I'm quite disappointed in how the Lore has been handled

I use to follow the lore a lot, it was what I originally only posted on the forums for, and as someone who really enjoyed alot of the old lore, I feel as if the new one is just so bland and boring...

Lore depth The new lore looks big and fancy, although realistically speaking all of those paragraphs I see most the time represent filler text. Twitch's lore for example can be summed up as: -Twitch is a giant rat with a crossbow -He likes dirty things -He'll murder people who take or mess with dirty things Granted, his old lore isn't that much different, but I expected a much deeper character or understanding of Twitch rather than just the same thing we already knew with some added in flavor text.

You then have lores like Trundle's, Skarner's, etc. Who's stories were fairly nice, and then Riot removes their old lores entirely and turns them into what feels like background characters rather than individuals...

"Who's this Trundle guy?" He's just some king of a troll tribe who works with Lissandra

"Who's this Skarner guy?" He literally just sits in a cave doing nothing but guarding it...

**Summoners & IoW ** This is something Riot's lore team tried to go out of their way and explain why they wanted it gone, and I honestly cannot agree with their reasoning at all... Our lore since the removal of IoW have yet to even have anything that would be contradicted by the IoW. In fact the removal of IoW contradicts new lore instead... Take for example Bard's lore, which takes place presumably during the Noxian invasions at Ionia. The plothole here is Noxus only invades Ionia because the IoW setup a peace treaty between Noxus and Demacia, therefore Noxus shouldn't of invaded Ionia in the new lore unless Riot is trying to imply Noxus conquered Demacia and moved on to Ionia.

P.S Story & Art, I hate these two sections being stuck together under a single forum, it makes it hard to find lore threads and I honestly left lore discussion entirely because I just didn't want to bother digging though art threads constantly...

I stopped caring about the lore ever since they "changed" the lore of half the champions. Lore isn't supposed to "change". What if they change it again?

Just asking an innocent question here...where is the "Lore" and how can i read it?

Let's see... Agree with what you're saying about lore. It's been beaten to death by many, but it just sucks that we can't have something new to talk about with this because there hasn't been much in terms of lore recently and Riot hasn't talked to anybody here about lore.

As for separating the boards, it's possible to separate the boards into subforums. But, it's not too hard to separate art and lore threads imo

The attack on Bard Mountain happened ruffly 50-60 years ago, because the old dude that is talking about the three Bard lights in the sky was the little kid held by his brother in the Bard Mountain video. We could be dealing with more than just one Invasion of Ionia and even that, this was just a small party of Noxians soldiers attacking a remote mountain village.

The fact is the retcon has done little to limit their lore, and most of the new lore they've put out would go great with IoW.

The implication was that Noxus invaded Ionia for their relics of power. Hence why they went for the random village with the artifact of doom in it.

As a legitimate master of many different genres of lore, I feel safe to say League is in a rather good if not amazing spot to expand into having real lore. Right now it's just descriptions about cities, factions, certain people and their relationships. But the little lore offered is pretty good and due to how large Runeterra is and how many characters there are and how much technology there is, it would be easy to make plenty of good, entertaining lore.

As much as I don't like the way they handled the lore issue, seeing complaint after complaint after complaint after complaint about it is really getting old.

Riot was put into a rough spot with this one - They didn't like the IoW and the direction it took the lore for a long time (Darius release was often cited as the point they gave up on it) but didn't have the manpower in Narrative to clean it up quickly. This caused the community to call them out for not communicating, which they weren't doing because they didn't know how they wanted to handle the situation. So they got in a catch-22 - They could either communicate and announce their plans despite not having a suitable replacement (causing complaints like this one) or they could keep silent and not say anything (angering the community even more). They chose the former.

They're replacing the lore slowly but steadily. The Great Retcon was announced on September 2014... which means they have to replace 5 years worth of lore. They've had 8 months. Even if they started working full tilt on new lore since the release of Darius in May 2012, a commonly-cited point, that would have given them roughly three years to redo the previous three years of lore while continuing to make new lore at the same rate (doubling their workload) with higher expectations, shorter deadlines, and a constantly-shifting internal structure (as Narrative can't seem to hold its leadership nearly as long as other departments).

Complaining about it isn't going to make anything happen. Just let it go and carry on. Nobody's saying you can't enjoy or discuss both the old lore and the new lore. In fact, Riot likes discussion on the old lore, from what I've seen, since it helps give their own writers perspective on how the community views the champions and lets them know what's important to us. It increases the odds that we get what we want when the retcon wave washes over our favorite champions instead of getting surprised like we did with Trundle, where nobody knew what we liked about it until it was changed, or Jayce, whose lore's take on Viktor was so poorly-received that it got flamed straight off the PBE server until it got rewritten.

I sense that the lore hatter just dont like anything lore related explained to them so thats why they downvote comments with lore explanations. I dont get them nor anyone that isnt a fanboy would as well.
