Pretty big plothole in 'The Bird and Branch'

I love this story as much as anyone else, and I'm really excited for the new champion, but there's a gaping hole in the teaser that really should be addressed: how does a young girl from a remote desert waste understand and communicate with a)Noxians and b)Yasuo, who grew up in a secluded monestary on the other side of the world?

As Tolkien elves and hobbits could: Westron (or Common Speech).

Pretty sure League lore has always operated with some D&D-esque Common language assumption.

Universal language.

Yasuo is also a seasoned traveler; he can probably speak more than one langauge.

Everyone speaks the same language in Valoran. There are other languages, but they seem to be more historic as the world has become connected. You could say this about everyone to be honest. How does anyone understand anyone from a different nation?

Even if we ignored the concept of a Universal language. Wouldn't the Noxians have taught their soldiers the Ionian language so they could better fight their enemies? Taliyah was originally fighting against the Ionians after all before she fled from the Noxians. As knowing several languages is the sign of a learned person. It also does make sense for Yasuo to know several languages as his entire character is "The Wanderer".
