i think he wold use it but as an extreme solution and will try all other options he had first
No, he would likely fear the threat of corruption more than his own death. Likely he would just try to survive and pick up all the broken pieces afterward.
... I dont think that Using a World Rune would stop a Rune War from errupting... In fact, i think that it would give a good excuse for starting the war.
"Look what that crazy bald guy did with a World Rune! WE HAVE TO STOP EVERYONE FROM USING WORLD RUNES WITH OUR OWN WORLD RUNES!"
Would he use a rune to stop a void invasion? Would he use a rune to fight the darkin? Would he use a rune to stop the shadow isles? Would he use a rune to deweebify Ahri?
I'm guessing no, no, no, and it depends if he watches anime or not.
Going back to the topic, I think a better question is if another rune war starts would he use a rune to put an end to it? It sounds like it's only a matter of time before he too becomes tempted to use one. Maybe riot should set up a new champion to be ryze's apprentice in case he needs someone to take up the mantle, and him either using one or sealing off some of his magical powers on purpose would be an interesting in-lore reason to rework him.
Ryze is Runeterras analogue for NATO in a post-nuclear world where World Runes are ICBMs. He knows that using a World Rune would only start an arms race it would be pointless, plus his experiences with Tyrus make him sure he can't trust himself to use the Rune responsibily. Ryze will always default to disarmament if a Rune War was going to break out. Extending the olive branch and working as a mediator between powers.
