How powerful is a world rune?

Since the World Runes Event is coming, their powers and capabilities play a huge role. So how powerful are they?

  • it is said world runes are capable of shaping lands.

  • They seem to have different aspects in power. Possibly all of them are destructive, but affect different areas. If I go from Brand, I would say at least some of them are elemental.

  • The biggest evident about their power is Brand IMO. Only champion that directly uses a world rune, within the soul or not. He is incarnation of a world rune, and gives me the idea world runes are at least semi-sentinent (maybe even malicious if we go from Brand.)

Anyway. Brand, as a destructive force of nature, was capable of fighting 2 of the most powerful of the Ascended in their prime. Nothing is known about what happened in fight, but we know he survived. If we assume, Nasus and Renekton did not leave him behind because they sensed something terribly going on Shurima Capital, it is safe to say he, and of course a world rune, are equal to Nasus and Renekton together at worst.

  • Brand in his sarcophagus was imprisoned for a millenia. It is huge duration compare to what Xerath did, which is another entity used the same sarcophagus and shattered it less than a day. That's not entirely wrong to say Brand is weaker than an ascended in a level like this. But that doesn't mean a world rune is weaker. It is also possible a world rune may sacrifice its power when it finds a "host".

  • Ryze, as an arcane mage is enchanted by runes undirectly, even if he doesn't use them. That likely means world runes are corrupting (no shit sherlock, says Brand).

  • Ryze is terrified by what catastrophe world runes can cause, plus Rune Wars were world ending level.

TL;DR World runes are freaking powerful. I would say they are in this levels (referrenced their highest amount of damage they can cause):

In a vessel like Brand:

Cosmic beings > Xerath > Brand > a demigod > Nasus or Renekton

A world stone in its purest form :

Aurelion Sol > a world stone > rest of all.

Quote from Ryze's bio showing world runes being used:

They had escaped halfway across a mountain range before the battle erupted. Ryze suddenly felt the earth fall away beneath him. The ground seemed to retch and squeal, while the sky above them recoiled as if mortally wounded. Tyrus grabbed Ryze and screamed unheard commands, but the words were swallowed by the unnatural silence around them. For the first time, they were witnessing the effects of two World Runes at war.

Seconds later, reality settled. Ryze and Tyrus clambered to the ruins of a nearby peak and looked back upon the valley where the two armies previously stood. Below, they saw insanity—destruction so massive that it defied all physical sense. The armies, the people, the very land itself were gone. An ocean that was previously beyond a day’s journey was now rushing to meet them. Ryze could only fall to his knees and stare into the great hole left in the world. The devastation was complete. Nothing remained. Not even the village he once called home.

I agree with everything you said except for the runes corrupting Ryze. They just alter his appearence and buff his magic because of the constant contact with them.

Question: what will be the names of the capitals of Shurima, Demacia and Noxus?? At the moment, their names are all " The XXX Capital". Plz. This is not a name of city

Reading this led me to re-read the Ryze's story and I have an important question:

Ryze was on one such menial errand when he received word of a new cataclysm, this time to the southwest of Valoran, in Icathia

**Icathia? At southwest of Valoran? **

Two options come to my mind:

  1. This lore is outdated so we can't use it as a reference anymore.

  2. There was only one central continent (actual Valoran + southern) in the time of the Rune Wars.

Bonus 3) Just an error?
