I miss Irelia's old sword

While visually Irelia was mostly upgrated with her VGU, I really liked that weird psychic sword irelia used to have. It stood out in league and in other games because I can't think of anything else like it. Now it's gone, and I'm a little sad. Now irelia's new blades feel kind of generic to me. It's kind odd for riot to go that route. I have to ask why riot did that.

I mean take her surfing animation when homeguard is active. That would have looked a lot better on the old sword which would have been much more surfboard like. Doing that animation style on these daggers just breaks my sense of disbelief. Couldn't riot have made her W and E work with the old sword? I'd think the W would have definitely worked and the E might have worked with the right animations.

I just don't get why they scrapped the old weapon for something that doesn't really stand out in the crowd.
