Are the World Runes basicly Infinity Stones?

Based on the Cinematic, there is one empty slot in the vault, suggesting there are 5 in total. In the Ryze/Brand comic, the green Rune, the woman asks if it could "Bring her son back" Ryze affirms this, tho not in the way she thinks. This would give the rune a Resurrection/Healing power, instead of total annihilation like the Red Rune seems to cause (it would seem based on the flash backs it was the run responsible for that cataclysmic explosion).

They really share a lot of themes with the Marvel Infinity Stones, including that its folly to think that the average mortal can wield them. Im not gonna critic Riot in saying that is lazy writing if its the case. Rather, id like to see what the 5 World runes can individually do, and if there is some sort of Object that can harness their power.

Also what role they will play in the future Void War. If they are ever going to be used, it should be there.

There are somewhere between 12 and 16 "slots" for the world runes in that vault. You can see some earlier in the cinematic and the room appears to be built symmetrically.

Legendary Thanos Ryze Skin: "When I'm done, half of the roster will still exist. I hope they remember you."

I know it lines up in a cultural sense, but the idea of having a set of magic objects (especially rocks/gems) that are often multicolored to represent different elements or powers that they have, and are potentially catastrophic if brought together, is a fantasy trope that is far, far older than Marvel. It's a plot device that you can't really trace back to an origin point.

My theory, and its a crackpot theory, is that the runes all are like port keys to other realms of magic, and thus let magic flow between the worlds (thinking different realms like the Targonian Golden city in the sky, The spirit realm, where ever the watchers originated, the origin of the Sun Disk, and potentially where Nagakbouros comes from). Perhaps explaining the reoccurring theme of the floating rocks that look like inactive portals around Runeterra, like in Targon, Ionia and Shurima At one point they all were unified in a place we have yet to see revealed on the map, but humans took the power and divided it up. Each Rune has access to a different realm of magic, not all are innately Chaotic but all are incredibly powerful and the runes caused things like the Fall of the Blessed isles. NOW what if this block in the flow of magic has built up so much that the space between worlds ripped open, magic litterally bursting at the seams, and let the void rush into icathia...

Its almost like the old lore when different champions were literally just from different worlds, like Taric was just from a Gem world, and Malphite was from a different world called the monolith and Kayle and Morgana had their own world, (Same as Nasus and Renekton) and they all just got teleported to Runeterra... except the lore team took that concept and made it more intricate and deepened the story a lot

Next Ryze rework: No more Ryze. We now have Thanos.

I really wonder if this means that Brand really has the last world rune already.(kinda odd is the fact that the red rune looks like it could belong to brand)
