League of Legends Special Ediition Comic & Interior Art | Marvel

I'm sure we've all heard about the Marvel/Riot collab.

But it just occurred to me how this is going to be all manner of weird if they make a comic featuring a champion and then drastically rework their appearance. Like imagine if Ashe's comic comes out, sells gangbusters, gets a bunch of people interested in playing League (and by extension, Ashe) only to find that the Ashe in the comic looks, acts and "sounds" nothing like the Ashe from the game.

Although on the other side, it'd be cool as hell to see a champion update/visual rework shown in the comic before the game.

going forward, they'll probably keep with whatever continuity they write in the comics.

They’ll likely only focus on champions whose appearance they’re relatively happy with. So when they get updated there will be some continuity.

Also, I have a sneaky suspicion this comic push is more for player retention and returners rather than getting brand new players.

Some may come of course. But I was under the impression that LoL was rather ubiquitously known among gaming communities. Whether they play or not.

I'm not at all bothered if a character can expand their narrative beyond what the in-game version could ever hope to represent (so long as the champ isnt currently need of a vgu anyway). That's kinda the fact of the matter with building an unrestricted lore.

If they anyone is going to be majorly depicted in the comics, they probably won't be a direct translation from Game to Comic, allowing a very possible VU (Ashe doesn't even look the exact same in the comics either, she's wearing pants for crying out loud, it's a miracle!).

On the other hand, if people really feel that connected to a Champion who appears in a comic, Riot would probably try to keep the essence of that interpretation of the champion when they get reworked.

They likely will focus on champions whose physical appearance/identity is rather solid for now.

And as long as it only changes the outift,they can justify it as just a new outfit.(like Captain Fortune)

Dude, they can just claim they're in an alternate universe. Whenever something doesn't logically flow, just say "infinite universes" and it's k.

ehh not really, if riot changes a design later on it won't really matter the comics will just be of the champs old look. But I'm 100% certain they're communicating with each other and know when or how a champion has changed, so any visual changes will be told to Marvel before they make the comic. Like the upcoming Kayle and Morgana reworks have probably already been communicated to Marvel noting that they will change appearance, so maybe hold off on the comics until they come out on live

I don't mind if they have permission to use some moves of the Marvel heroes, to a reworked champion. My first thought as an example would be Thor to Volibear. I'd love that.

It'd be good if more reworks were like Akali's, how they evolve their lore and art based on their previous stories. I love that Akali's new lore is literally that she got tired of being a generic girl-ninja and set off on her own. I wanna see more of that. Maybe Ashe can finally embrace her role as leader of the Avarosa and take on the colours of the Freljord.
Or maybe her stylist just tells her she looks really tacky for the leader of a clan [slayer-jinx-wink]
