About The Dreaming Pool...
Hi everyone! It's your favourite Syndra boy Caithresh talking! With the recent Soraka update, I decided to plunge back into my reading of The Dreaming Pool (which is an awesome story btw, thank you Anthony Reynolds for writing it!) and continue my theories and research on Syndra. So, without further ado, let's get into it...
Syndra's powers
Apart from the obvious ones we've seen (like her telekinesis, dark sphere creation and matter creation), there's one passage that still bugs me.
Sirik screamed, but there was nothing she could do. With a flick of her wrist, Syndra sent the orb hurtling toward, then through, her brother. He gasped, all the color draining from his flesh, and sank beneath the waters.
Now, I know what you might be thinking, that she just sent it and that the sphere cut Okin's flesh, leaving a whole into his poor body. That's possible, but I don't think that's the case. There's no mention of blood, for instance. Overall, I think it would've been described. No, I think the dark sphere went through Okin's body without hurting his body. My guess is that it did something to him, but what? Let's see...
- We are often told that Syndra's dark spheres are some representation of her anger and bitterness. Knowing that she also has some form of empathic power, could it be that her dark sphere did something to Okin's mind? Not quite sure it's that but it's a possibility.
- My favourite hypothesis is that her spheres jeopardized to poor lad's magic and and/or soul. Her dark spheres destroyed the Ghost-Willow's magic, do it doesn't seem too far-fetched that they could do the same if they were to go through someone's body. Just as a reminder, this is what her bio says:
It flared with volatile strength, the orbs like pearls of negativity that leached the spirit magic from the world around her, draining the ghost-willow of its life essence.
Soraka's appearance and Syndra's future
I mentionned that in a previous post, but I'm gonna flesh it out.
We can safely assume that the Seer from The Dreaming Pool is Soraka. On Soraka's updated universe page, Syndra's one of her related champions. We also know that Soraka travels through the world sometimes, and the description in the Dreaming Pool fits. There's no confirmation but I'm 99% sure it's her. Soraka sent Kalan to watch over the Dael'eh Ahira. She even told him that if he ever were to deviate from this task, his children would be lost. He could've been anywhere to Noxus, but Soraka said this specific place. Why? Because she knew that the assassins would come, that Syndra would be set free. Question is, what is the connection between Syndra being freed, and Kalan's children prospering? Here are my guesses...
- At some point in the soon-ish future, someone and/or something might try to invade Ionia (it could be Noxus again, or it could be... Let's say The Black Mist). That would put Kalan's children in danger (assuming they are still in Ionia). Syndra would play a great part in that war, perhaps leading to victory or something, thus allowing the children to be safe. In her current mindset, Syndra is nowhere near helping Ionia in a war, but she will grow. This path is really interesting, as it would allow Syndra to unleash her full potential in a war, and that's something I'd really like to see.
- We don't really know what Syndra's going to do next. Assuming she decides to go berserk on Ionia, the people of Ionia will be forced to unite against her. She's an incredibly powerful mage, and in term of raw power, I'd say she's the strongest human mage we've seen so far. Ionia would need armies to take her down, in my not-so-humble opinion. Maybe this unity will allow Kalan's kids to survive? I'm not much of a fan of this theory, as I don't want Syndra to become a villain, plus I'm guessing that such a conflict would result in terrible losses for Ionia so it's unlikely.
- Someone told me yesterday that there's a high chance Kalan's children would be bullied because their father is a traitor (I mean, to them of course. It was his nation or his children, tough choice huh?). Now this might come off as a surprise, but what if Syndra came across them while travelling through Ionia? What if she sees them being bullied? After what she's been through, I think that maybe she would help them? She might not be a caring, loving person right now, but I think seeing someone going through what she's been through might encourage her to have some sympathy.
That will be all for now. What do you think about these theories and hypothesis? Do you think I'm getting close to something, or do you think I'm delusional? To any rioter that would pass by, would you tell I'm on to something? I know that "Impossible to see, the future is", but the slightest clue would be super cool!
