The Black Rose..?

I’ve been playing League for just a bit and I’ve always became interested in the lore behind the games I enjoy. After looking into a bit of lore for League, I quickly became interested in The Black Rose. From what I’ve seen (and can remember) they're an ancient organization in which each member is skilled in the dark arts. I know our LeBlanc is the current leader of the organization and that Vladimir and Swaim were once members, while Elise has had connections to the organization, I’m curious who else holds a place in it. I’d personally like to see a new champion that is currently in The Black Rose or perhaps a reveal that a preexisting character (such as Lissandra) once had part in it. Anyways, I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts despite this being a mess of a post. :)

Firstly, Swain was only a member of the Black Rose in the old lore. Currently he is their arch-nemesis. Leblanc and Vlad are like founders while Elise shares some interests so she works with them. Now the part that is not canon yet is:

  • Cassiopeia's fate. She did go to Shurima and found that tomb for a reason. But why and who sent her? Swain also says The payment for her suffering in Shurima, a black rose. Maybe it was a final test before her true joining to the rose?

  • Sion's Resurrection. Why and how he was ressurected? What he does when is not in a war exactly? Does Noxians know about him, was he dropped on a battlefield before? I mean there will be awaken part but thats the future lore.

  • General Du Couteau's whereabouts. It was the Black Rose that dealed with him in the old lore. Now? Who knows. Nobles and urgot says it was Swain, Swain says he is not. Katarina serves Swain, Cass is implied to be with Black Rose. Talon is completely unknown as always, time moves on but we are yet to get some canon stuff on him. Still searchin' for the General and Swain implies he js dead.( I doubt it though.)

I hope we get a meaningful Noxian this year. Thank god they gave us Kled, which is such an important addition for a nation that didnt get a champion since Draven and Darius.( They are almost released at the same time.) I currently have my eyes on the new assassin. I hope it's a Noxian champ. And as personal desire, I hope its a champion that can solve the Du Couteau family's long left arc.

Vladimir never left the Black Rose. Swain was never part of it.

Well with Elise and Vladimir, Cassio is also a part of the Black Rose! As you said this is an ancient organization that seats very powerful individuals all invited by Leblanc herself Im assuming.. Lissandra was never a part of the Black Rose and they will never write her as a part because the Black Rose BR are a part of Noxus and Lissandra is a devoted freljordian and she would never work for them or with them. Besides Lissandra has her own version of the BR as the Frostguard in the Freljord! One more thing: she is the Ice Witch, so with that alone she doesnt fit into a place like Noxus, especially considering the fact that the Frostguard is much older than the current Black Rose :) Although I do see why you could imagine her being a part if them, all the magic and power!

Like The Iceborn said, Cassiopeia is hinted to also be a part of it.

Cassiopeia needs more depth indeed, she has to be in the organization, but I can't remember a rioter confirming this.

And I agree we need more Black Rose members, perhaps a new champion to extend the faction ? Might only happen after a while, that's why I wish a full Leblanc rework !

I truly wish Riot would take advantage of such an interesting part of the lore.

A political cabal filled with dark nobles, sorcerers and sorceresses? Sign me up.

Not to mention this same cabal is led by an ageless witch who brought down Runeterra's most powerful warlord while jumpstarting the Noxian empire AND manipulates the events of Runeterra? SIGN. ME. UP.

Mordekaiser's update better give us extra info on...

  1. Morde's relationship with LeBlanc.
  2. Whether or not the Black Rose existed at the time of Mordekaiser's reign.

In a future lore update (praying for a Noxian champion soon) I hope we find out just how involved the Black Rose is in the events of Runeterra and what their true end game is.

I mean come on, this could be the Illuminati of League.

Reviving necro- threads which already had their time to shine is against Universal Rules and as such I will be locking this thread to make sure it lands at the bottom of the howling abyss. I would strongly encourage looking at how old a thread is before commenting on it.
