2019 Lore Tournament - Day 12: Homecoming vs Roots of a Poisoned Tree

EDIT: Adorable Malphite wins with 24 to 13 votes. #####~~ Here I stand - and here I'll stay~~

Yup, we got hit by vote manipulation, but the funny thing is that it didn't even matter. Engagement in the votes barely dropped. In fact, I didn't even notice until Lewanor pointed it out to me. That alone should be enough to tell that it's irritating, but not really effective to downvote-bomb threads around here.

So, fuck the bots, I'll keep doing these posts until the end.

#####What will you do when the land itself turns against you?

Today, two different heroes fight against two very curious enemies: The Spirit Realm and the Void.

In the first story, Homecoming, Master Yi once again returns to his village. Something has upset the spirits, and the whole place is overgrown with vines. He clears them like he has so many times before, but they will come back again. Soon, he will have to burn it. But not now. Not yet. In the second story, Roots of a Poisoned Tree, miners from Zaun encounter living rock, which introduces itself as Malphite. He tells them they should not dig deeper, for there are otherworldly creatures trapped in the stone by him. They leave and let him collapse the tunnel. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/365550473429909504/648237903100510229/WT7mmUN.png

I gotta say, Roots of a Poisoned Tree for me. It's just a fantastic surprise to see Malphite, and his bluntness. "OH. SORRY." When he's asked to stop moving lest the cave collapse.

I'm going for the Roots, just cause it was so cool to finally get some Malphite lore. Also, I didn't really like that Yi story. Also I really liked that Malph story. It was nice.

As heartfelt as Homecoming is, I'm giving it to Roots of a Poisoned Tree.

Malphite is a delight, and the horrific implications of Voidborn using the caverns left behind by the God-Willow's roots to traverse Runeterra is...terrifying, to say the least.

Also that slang. I know that slang. I live among people who used that slang, and are AS HARD TO UNDERSTAND. I relate so hard to that.
