Shurima is based on the real-life Egypt
So it makes sense that she looks like an young Middle Eastern girl. In fact I would find it odd if her splash art didn't looked like what it is now. She is pretty beautiful to be honest
I feel this is important to say, but Shurima is based on the popular interpretation of ancient Egypt.
I honestly don't see why people don't like her appearance. It's much more unique than someone like 
. I think it's cute.
I really don't get the hate on Taliyah's appearance, but I suspect most of it comes from sheltered bumblefucks.
It would make just as much sense for her not to look like middle eastern girl, as Sivir doesn't, and as at least big parts of ancient Egypt population didn't.
Face it, Taliyah looks Arabic only because someone at Rito wanted to express their oh-so-not-islamophobic worldview in times of ISIS and Refugee Crisis.
Not that it's necessarily a bad thing, but that's a fact.
Why don't people also complain about Azir? If Taliyah is not what a pretty girl is supposed to look like in 'Murrica, then neither does Azir fit in with my 'Murrican concept of leadership birds. In 'Murrica, my inspiring bird got dem dere hwite face and dem dere browny furr, and we-a-calls him the bald eagoll. Frankly, I am offended and shaken by Rito's obvious pandering to politically correct non-'murrican leader birds. Golden birds is preposterous and unmerican.
Anyone else getting a Toph Beifong from "Avatar - The Last Airbender" vibe from her, or is that just me?
Ok, idk people was complaining about her physics O.o I think she is cute and definitely matches the character's origin, her ingame design looks soo pretty! the flow of her movements is great.

Besides, if that were the case, then we would have already seen the new opposition faction called the Inhibitor State of Ionia and Shurima (ISIS for short), in which case there would have been several bombings in Demacian theaters and airports, but we wouldn't want that in the lore would we :/
