The Big Problem I have With ZAC's Lore

One thing that infuriated me with Blitzcrank's lore was how, when I read it, reminded me of what I thought of when I thought of ZAC. I thought this same heroism should be shown in ZAC's lore.

For the record, I'm not angry that Blitzcrank is a hero. More heroes in a place like Zaun is always good. I'm more angry that they pretty much gave ZAC's more characteristic trait of being a hero while giving ZAC this mess of a lore.

Let's look at ZAC's character itself.

In the game, he was usually calm, giving funny lines to say during combat, and was really a complete pacifist if you look at his lines. ("Sorry about the pain")

In the lore, he's VERY emotionally unstable as seen in the lines that say that he could be a hero OR a monster that could cause fear or trepidation. Sure he may retain the original characteristics of a lovable blob, but it makes little sense to add this Mood Ring aspect to him as a once calm and light-hearted blob can turn extremely hateful in an instant.

So here's my question: WHY GIVE ZAC A MOOD RING MUTATION?

(Mood Ring Mutation: The ability to imitate surrounding emotional stimuli like happiness or anger)

I still don't understand the intent. Was it to make him emphasize more with other people? I guess you can make that argument if it wasn't for the fact that Blitzcrank sympathize fine with other people without some stupid mood ring mechanic. You can say that it was his coding, but I doubt that his coding also granted him his sentience. Furthermore, the role of a mood ring mutation still seems overkill to me to make a living creature sympathize with others, and even then, it has been WIDELY shown in his color story that all ZAC wants is to be bathed in happy feelings, NOT SAVING PEOPLE IN THE SUMP. He knows that bad things happens in the sump, but doesn't even freaking bother because of this dumb mood ring mechanic.

In my opinion, the ZAC lore is a complete utter mess. There seems to be a massive inconsistency between in-game and the lore and it seems to be missing his identity as the lovable hero of Zaun, and I feel like the source of this entire problem stems from the mood ring mechanic.

So I ask again: What's the point of it!?

Yeah I don't really like his new back story either, I feel that because his parents stopped guiding him he became the way he is now. The Zac we have in game seems like a completely different Zac than the story gives. I can't imagine the "new Zac" having the same levels of charisma the current Zac has because he is always hiding out of sight and watching life from the outside. I don't know why they made the changes, it kinda makes Zac cliche.

You are jumping to conclusions here.

Zac does care about others and not just because he wants to feel good himself.

And I think there were several reasons for Zac to get the mood ring-thing: 1.To differentiate him from Blitzcrank.I mean they are both friendly nonhumans that save people,so it was likely important for riot to differentiate them.

2.It kinda explains how Zac could interact with others when he didn't even have eyes or ears.I mean how else would he have felt the presence of others?

3.It also explains how Zac can know that something is wrong, while he is a mass of goo that simply runs through the pipes of zaun. After all he can't see the outside world from these pipes,so how could he know if something was wrong?

4.It does add a bit of conflict towards Zac.After all Zac has now to struggle with keeping his calm in dire situations, when he receives all kinds of negative energy.
