There's a lot one could do by adding in a Genie, as they have great significance in Middle Eastern folklore. It'd be a perfect fit to have a Genie in the Shurima scene.
Any thoughts? Would a Genie be a good fit? Or is Riot trying to steer away from Middle Eastern stuff?
As a Middle Eastern myself, I'd be totally down for that. I think Shurima is super cool because I'm Egyptian and there are clear ties between the two, so adding even more stuff like that would be sweet.
i'd think the first thing Riot would need to do is ask what aspect they want to focus on to make a genie "archetype" while changing the rest to feel unique to League.
some things i can think of: Faustian wish granter imprisoned spirit some mundane item or weapon that hold intellect and power.
but the visuals and themes of a genie sounds like a great idea.
A genie support would be so cool! I Imagine their passive would give passive gold to nearby allies.
That or a Djinn.
The genie archetype might work, but it is pretty generic, so they would give it some kind of twist to change it up.
Shurima is more Ancient Egpyt inspired tbh.

At first glance, that looks like it could be a skin for JanJan-Chan, Cass, or Aussie. On second thought, that sounds like it should be a soraka skin because her ultimate is called wish. On a third consideration, do we want a good genie who is a faithful helper or an evil Jinn who twists wishes to fit his own needs or desires?
My biggest problem with a Genie is I don't see riot having the technology to pull it off. What do I mean by that? Well a genie is suppose to grant wishes or serve others. In game, I feel like that champion's kit wouldn't be a support but would be a flexible one that has to morph based on the team's needs either by reinforcing the team comp or filling a hole. So I'm thinking it'd fit best as a jungler, but I don't see riot trying to do it correctly because that champ would be a nightmare to balance at best and would require a neural network at worst.
I'd like to see Varus' sister actually be a Genie before she got Darkin'd. Having similar abilities to a Genie, while maintaining the Darkin spirit. Like how Rhaast maintains Kayn's Shadow Magic.
A genie could fit but it might need some kind of "ancient artifact", void or ascension deal
A genie character would be fun even as a in game champion they could really get creative and do some kit around the wishes and deals theme
