I am aware of the newly-released Soraka story, and while it would certainly fall under the rules of this contest, it was released far too late. We can't change everything (again) and because we are already close to the quarter-finals, we would have to redo a lot of the contest. Sorry! [sg-soraka]

#2018 Lore Tournament: Day 15

Today's stories focus on the hidden shadow's beneath the beauty and glory of two lands of Runeterra. In the first story, The Eye in the Abyss, an Iceborn Frostguard soldier makes a journey into the Howling Abyss, where the dreaded Watchers rest. In the second story, Stains on a Name, the Ionian hero Irelia reflects over her legacy as the savior of her nation, and the price it has cost.

The Eye in the Abyss by Anthony Reynolds Sivgar, an Iceborn warrior of the Frostguard, takes the honored journey into the Howling Abyss with fellow Frostguard companions Olar and Halla. The three of them take the long journey to the bottom of the wide chasm, unknowing of the horrors that await them at the bottom of the abyss...

Stains on a Name by John O'Bryan Irelia, the famed Blade Dancer, is a hero of her people, and the girl who, alone, turned the tide of the war between Noxus and Ionia. However, the violence the war-and she-have brought to this land have left scars that seem unlikely to heal. Irelia considers the legacy of her dancing blades and whether her legacy has truly brought her people peace, or has only incited more war.

I love Irelia, really. I mean, no I hate her in-game, and her lore isn't that appealing to me, but I really like her story. Especially this one, it was really good. But come on, The Eye in the Abyss was just dope. I enjoyed every bit of it really. Ant in Oz has outdone himself on that one. So my vote's for the Freljord. I think tomorrow will be a bad day for Syndra tho haha.

Eye in the Abyss is incredibly well written and very representative of a huge part of Runeterras histosry so I have to give it up for that story

I chose Stains on a Name, for the same reason as The Cage: it connects better with emotions and focuses on a character we really know. While the Eye in the Abyss is certainly interesting, the characters didn't pull me in like Stains on a Name did with Irelia, nor give that interesting perspective on the morals of violence and war.

By the way, since Soraka's story came technically during Pre-Season time, I think it's safe to save her story for next year.

I feel like this is a bit unfair. Not that Irelia's story is bad, but The Eye in the Abyss is one of the best stories we've seen so far.

The eye in the abyss had some really awesome horror vibes, and actually made me feel confused for a second when it cut to him looking at the eye. Really amazing writing with that thing creeping up the abyss and into the MC's mind. I really hope we hear from him again. He and the girl were really cool.
