For Demacia
Just finished reading this 'short' story and boy was it good. I especially liked how a lot of Demacian aspects were portrayed in this story. Like how the people respect and idolize those of the royal family like the Crownguards, not out of fear but out of true respect. The story also shows the fear and distrust Demacians have for sorcery and mages; which makes Demacia something along the lines of Camelot.
The characters of Lux and Garen are also more developed in this story. Garen always seemed more of a simple and dumb warrior that just fights for 'Demacia', but it is shown that Garen may be a simple man, but he ain't dumb (explicitly mentioned by Lux). I also enjoyed the characterization of Lux being the spoiled brat in the family where her parents pampers her while Garen is set to high and strict expectations. But instead of being an entitled princess in her adulthood, Lux becomes fiercly strong, independent and a true warrior worthy of Demacia. Furthermore, the introduction of the Dauntless Vanguards were welcome, even though they seemed plain and cliche, there is still room for much more future development.
The tone and atmosphere in the story were also on point, giving the readers a feeling of being in a demonically possessed town before the appearance of these said demons. The feeling of calm, relief and excitement when meeting the Dauntless Vanguards after a scary encounter in the woods showed the aura of the heroes perfectly.
My final point of appreciation was Garen's lines, which were on point in making him seem dumb, but not dumb. One memorable line was when the party witnessed a town-scale demonic possession, and Garen just declared: "Sorcery." It was a massive 'no-shit' moment and it felt so Garen-like as well. 11/10 Garen characterization.
Make more long lores like this rito. Good job. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
