And players lost their shit? Players said they would quit, or not support the game. One guy even threatened to sue Blizzard over it.

Let's not be the next Overwatch, people are freaking out over the fact that Neeko is gay, like it totally ruins the champion, like it ruins league for them. You guys need to focus more on the character and not her orientation. Yes, Neeko being gay is a part of her character but it is, in my opinion, a minor thing and shouldn't really be the topic of the debate on the boards.

Lets all chill and do some yoga.

Well, there's a difference here. Neeko was released as a lesbian unlike the overwatch characters whose sexuality remains a mystery until Blizzard actually reveals it.

Neeko was never, in her brief lifetime as a champion been considered anything BUT a lesbian so no one has an excuse for being upset here.

Remember when company's were actually intelligent enough to know that virtue signaling was a bad idea and then attacking their customers once they react badly to it was an even worse idea. Like do you guys not have phones?

Companys need to be financially punished whenever they dip their hat into the political ring, 1/6th of their total profits for each offense.

My issue is that it was actually somewhat subtle in her Lore and Gameplay (it probably would have been something I would have realized on my own after a few games of playing her) and then a Rioter went out of his way to be like 'OH AND BY THE WAY SHE'S GAY'.

Like, fuck off. Let her in-game interactions and lore speak for itself.

Just pull a Scathlocke and be like 'i dunno does her lore say that she's gay wink wink'.

I'm fine with a lot of stuff but people need to be a lot less obnoxious about it. Like, cool she has a Portuguese voice actor but she's not any country's champion (I saw some irritating Brazillian guy the other day referring to Neeko has 'our' (Brazil's) champion).

Extra comparison:

Neeko is champion #143 with minimal exposure outside of her initial release trailer.

Tracer was the face of Overwatch, the main "protagonist" that was all over advetisements, media, the box art and more.

Neeko is a face in the crowd. Tracer is in the literal spotlight on Overwatch

I don't think anyone much cares that Neeko is gay. I think some people care that not only is she a toxic creeper, but there are somehow many players who think this behavior is perfectly fine and excusable just because she's lesbian (and "wears her heart on her sleeve"... what a garbage phrase).

I mean, i don't really care if she is or isn't gay. That's not at all the reason why i like her.

But even if she's gay and she may speak of other female champs more fondly than male, that doesn't mean she has had a relationship with every champion she mimicked.

I kinda like Varus' reveal on his 'preferences' whether or not it's true that the couple he possessed were actually gay I think they way they presented that side of himself was pretty elegant. There was a lot of passion and expression of brotherly love and the likes.

From what I gather reading about Neeko is that she expresses that part of her in a straightforward, blunt, and childish manner. Granted she is supposed to come off as a young and cheerful character but to me I just think it's a bit shoehorned. Just have a character say it openly and that's their character bio in a nutshell!

Actions speak louder than words is all I'm saying.

I can sympathize more with Varus' backstory more because of how intimate their relationships were when told through the comics and music video.

Neeko just says she likes moist clams. Wowowow so in depth right?

That's what bothers me.

It's the same principle with Zeds or Yasuo's saying shit like "I'm so good" as they flash their mastery 7s badges. But then end up feeding 4/9/7 KDA. Like it's all talk and you end up looking a like a shit show. Of course everyone's going to hate you.
