Mordekaiser's Connection to Elemental Metal

So we now know that beings get their magic powers by being connected directly to their element (and the elemental plane) in some way. I'm not sure if people are just born with these connections or if they can be obtained otherwise. Anyway I thought of this concept for Mordekaiser if he were to get metalmancy as his magic type.

Mordekaiser is born with the power to manipulate metal, turns out this is quite rare among the already rare users of magic, infact there can only be one user of this power at a time. Eventually he manages to become the sorcerer king of eastern Valoran after the great Darkin War. Turns out his abilities were quite useful against armored combatants in battle. Mordekaiser then decides he wants to rule over the world forever and willingly sheds his mortality with the help of his court sorcerers. In doing so, he binds himself with the spirit of Metal and becomes the first 'undead', a hulking revenant of steel and shadow. This means no one else can inherit the power of Metal, until he is gone. His dark reign would last several hundred years before... well, the story basically continues as normal from now with his skull being stolen and stuff.

Anyway, i'm really bad at writing stories and there's lots of gaps in there but there ya go.
