Senna, the Lantern's Light (Revamped from Senna the Vindicator.)
Awhile ago, there was a discussion on Reddit regarding an ultimate Lucian skin that presented itself as his wife, Senna. That evolved into an idea regarding Senna as an independent champion, and I created a thread with the first concept art ideas. There were a lot of kit ideas suggested for Senna as a fighter, or a midlane mage, or a support, and you can view her original lore and kit here from the archived thread.
Truth be told, I didn't much care for the concept art after awhile of looking at it. It didn't feel like Senna, and it didn't really closely follow Riot's images of her from Lucian's login screen. Yesterday I finally sat down and redrew Senna, using Riot's art as a reference and submitted it back to Reddit.
Now with bonus (goofy) splash and her skin-tone corrected to be darker. Or more blue. Also drawn by me:

This is the second concept, her skin is too light.

Hopefully that image displays properly. I am in the process of painting a Vindicator Senna skin using her original costume because a few people have asked me to do it.
My idea for her is very different from the original proposal. I imagine her as a high-utility, long range support. (Lucian/Senna botlanes vs. Thresh/whoever botlanes? Or even Senna vs Lucian botlanes! Opportunities for all sorts of awesome taunts and actions, right!?) This is the original lore, by DangerousSteve, with some modifications by me:
-
Once a defender of the weak and slayer of all things Undead, Senna was an unbridled force to be receded with. With her relic weapon in hand, she would gun down those of undeath until they could no longer rise and were finally put to rest. Her husband Lucian always at her side - the one true warmth in her life, her home and her love - together they trekked a righteous path, defeating corruption and bringing safety and warmth back to those they saved. That is, until they came face-to-face with their most devious and sadistic enemy yet - Thresh, the Chain Warden.
-
Senna and her husband fought with all they had in them, determined to silence this terror of Runeterra once and for all. But the Warden was more cunning than either of them had first thought. Using Lucian as a feint and distraction, Thresh took advantage of Senna's fear of losing him and struck the final blow. Senna felt the scythe dig into her very being, retching her soul free from her body. The last thing she saw before being imprisoned was the horror upon Lucian's face as she screamed his name silently, then all went black.
-
Within Thresh's lantern, Senna stayed - imprisoned with countless other souls, each screaming in terror or sadness, unable to get free. Senna tried with all her might to find a way out, and fought constantly to rally the other spirits around her. It took time, but Senna, with the help of the other spirits around her managed to break free of Thresh's lantern, emerging together with an explosion of light that flung them into the far reaches of Runeterra. Escaping had a cost. She came out a shadow of her former self, her ghostly body formed by magic. She could feel a new strength within her, as well as the whispers of the haunting voices of the Shadow Isles spoke to her. They compelled her to give in - to join them in undeath. Senna fought back as she had in life; she refused to be like the monsters she once fought. She refused to be like Thresh or any other denizen of the Shadow Isles. She went into exile to master her own spirit once again, her fervor to fight the undead and defeat Thresh renewed. Channeling this new strength given to her by the energies from the spirits she helped free, she harnessed the spectral energies as her own to use them against the corruption that made her. She made a name for herself fighting the undead once again, and made her way to the League of Legends in search of Lucian.
Rather than undermining Lucian's lore as a undead-fighting badass, I thought that introducing Senna would give Lucian renewed purpose on the rift, to either take revenge against Thresh or to even fight against Senna to return her spirit to death, and peace. I know there was a lot of concern regarding having to change Lucian's lore drastically and I hope this version of her lore puts some of that to rest. I would love to see the dynamic of the Shadow Isles expanded and I think having Senna on the rift would help with that. I think her purity of spirit and inner resolve lends her to being a support. Also her abilities changing allows Lucian to keep her pistol and keeps Lucian's kit and lore intact.
I'm not much for creating kits, but here's my best crack at it. :) I'm thinking of her as a relatively long ranged, AP, high-utility support.
So there's that! If you have ideas for her kit or lore, please post them. :) There was a kit here but Ravencroft's idea for one is much better. :)
EDIT: Regarding her skin-tone. She has black facial structure with high contrast between her lips and her skin, suggesting she's probably of mixed race. Calm the hell down. Concepts can be changed.
I myself am working on a support champ whos arch type is a cleanser, so like how Soraka is centered around healing (i think?) my guy is centered around cleansing and removing CC effects, and i try to make his abilities and play style match that niche. IDK if ur going for the One Who Lights The Way arch type, I think id be really cool if her abilities were centered around somethin like that, I think it would give players a clearer picture of how she'd be in the game. So if you could tell me if Im wrong or not thad be a huge help so I can help you!
