LoL FanChamp Spotlight featuring Ghepetto, the Demonic Puppeteer
I've always wanted to get my own champion concept out there in the community, I just never had very good or developed ideas. Then Kalista and Harrowing 2014 were released and I was inspired by the cinematics. Over the last few months, I've been putting together my own version of Riot's official champion spotlights, that I call FanChamp Spotlights. I want to release a final video on my YouTube channel, but here's the concept art I'm going with (drew it myself, I'm kinda new to graphic design, so...) and the script I'm going with. At this point it's mostly set, but if anyone has any suggestions, please comment and tell me what you think. I might make more. Enjoy! P.S. First time posting here, so be gentle please ;)
Welcome to the League of Legends Fan-Champ Spotlight
Featuring Ghepetto, the Demonic Puppeteer.
Once a simple puppet maker, Ghepetto used his elaborate puppet shows to entertain the masses of Noxus. After witnessing none other than the Glorious Executioner himself in action, Ghepetto wanted to bring the same kind of bloody entertainment to his shows. Thus, he began his research into the dark arts, and, through a sacrifice of flesh and blood, gained the power to bring his creations to life and use terrifying abilities. As a marksman, he specializes in harassing his opponents with a mixture of DPS and burst-y abilities. With his puppets at his beck-and-call, he uses them as a primary resource for most of his abilities. Players will have to micro-manage their numbers in order to keep up their damage potential.
Abilities Ghepetto’s Passive is Never-Ending Tinkerer. Ghepetto just can’t stop making puppets, even on the field of combat. Every time he kills an enemy minion or lands a basic attack on an enemy champion, he completes a sixth of his new puppet. If he out-right kills an enemy champion, whatever puppet he’s currently working on is automatically completed and the counter resets. Once complete, he tucks it away to be used later for his W, E, or ultimate ability. Even if he’s out of combat, any progression made on this passive is preserved. The passive caps at 10 puppets, at which point, Ghepetto gets increased physical damage. If he has less than that, he instead receives an attack and movement speed boost. Note; Ghepetto can only have one of the two stat boosts at a time. He cannot have them both through his passive. Ghepetto’s Q is Doomed Puppet Stand-In. Ghepetto launches a target ally minion in a straight line skill-shot, dealing a reduced amount of damage to each enemy it passes through. Upon reaching its max range, it explodes dealing damage to nearby enemies and granting Ghepetto the gold and experience for that minion. Two things to keep in mind with this ability; firstly, the explosion cannot be triggered before it reaches its max range. This means you’ll need precise aim to deal the most amount of damage. Secondly, the effects of this ability change depending on what type of minion you throw. A caster minion will deal magic damage, a melee minion will deal physical damage, and a cannon minion will deal a mixture of both. Minion buffs such as Banner of Courage or Baron Buff are not factored in. Also, it can’t be used on Super minions; they’re too big! Ghepetto’s W is It’s Show Time! Ghepetto roots himself and summons a puppet from his passive to fight for him. While this ability is active, you control the puppet as if you were controlling Ghepetto. Everything, from walking, to attacking, even to item usage. The puppet is a melee fighter and has attack damage, attack speed, and movement speed that scale with Ghepetto’s level. It can also apply on-hit effects, like Red buff or Lifesteal, transferring any benefits back to Ghepetto. Instead of health, it’s on a timer system that the enemy can speed up by landing basic attacks and/or abilities on it. While Ghepetto himself is vulnerable for the duration of the ability, the range the puppet can move within is very large, and if you target an enemy unit within a certain area around Ghepetto, the puppet will dash between him and the enemy. You can also re-cast this ability early to expire the puppet and un-root yourself. One last thing; Ghepetto can’t bear to part with any one of his creations, so when the puppet’s timer expires or when you re-cast this ability, Ghepetto will pull the puppet back to him, leaving a short-lived trail behind and refunding 3/6 on his passive. Ghepetto’s E is Workshop Whirlwind. In addition to the mana cost, Ghepetto disassembles two of his puppets and conjures a flurry of broken parts in a target area that deals damage every second for 5 seconds. The area of this ability increases for each point put into it, but the damage increases for every enemy killed within the flurry, double increase from champion kills. Ghepetto cannot progress his passive by normal means for the duration of this ability, but any basic attack that hits an enemy unit inside the flurry will double the completion rate. So if you land three basic attacks, you’ve completed a puppet. Congrats. Ghepetto’s R is Grand Puppet Palooza. Ghepetto unleashes all of his puppets in a target area. For the duration of this ability, his puppets are out of his control, dealing damage to every enemy in the area, then imploding for one last burst of damage. The number of puppets used for this ability is equal to the number of puppets Ghepetto had through his passive, at the time the ability was cast. Damage increases for every puppet. Once the ability expires, he begins with zero puppets in his passive, which cannot be progressed for the duration of the spell and for a short period of time afterwards.
