Support Concept using Gold instead of Mana

I always wondered how a champ that uses gold as a way to pay for spells would work. So I came up with an idea for one, though it's not nearly polished enough, I'd like to know what people think of the general idea.

Louis, The Business Tycoon

Melee, Support

Passive: Smart Investor All items in the shop have their prices cut by 4% for Louis and his allies. Louis uses his earned gold instead of mana. He gains extra gold per 5 seconds, increasing with level and bonus mana/mana reg.

<This is to help him deal with having to use gold for items and spells, plus some added help to his team since he is a support>

Q: Charity Case Louis throws his briefcase to a target location where it bursts into a circular pile of cash dealing magic damage. All enemies hit are charmed towards the center of the circle, unable to take any action until they reach the center. The AoE is increased depending on Louis' current gold.

<Basically the AoE hitbox gets bigger the more gold Louis has on him. You'd want to hit champions with the edge of it as it will take them longer to reach the center, increasing the charm's duration>

W: Embargo (Or maybe call it Frozen Assets?) Passive: Louis and nearby allied champions gain bonus attack speed. Active: Louis' next three basic attacks apply Embargo and deal bonus physical damage. Enemies affected by Embargo cannot be healed, shielded, gain buffs, regen health or mana/resource, gain experience, use active items or earn gold for 2 seconds. This cannot be stacked or used on the same enemy more than once every 20 seconds.

<I know it seems like a lot, but it's mainly a counter for healing/shielding supports to prevent any clutch heal/shield. Probably could use some fine tuning but you get the concept>

E: Added Value Axe An axe comes out of Louis' briefcase and he spins it in a small circle around him knocking away any enemies hit. If the enemy is a champion, they are stunned for 0.2 seconds. The stun duration is increased on champions with a positive KDA. +0.2 seconds per kill past 1:1 KDA, maximum possible stun 2.5s. Also deals bonus damage per enemy champion kill.

<This means +0.2 seconds X (enemy champion kills-deaths). Example would be an enemy who is 10/3/5. 10-3=7 kills past 1:1 KDA. So that's 1.4 extra seconds of stun, for a total of 1.6 seconds. Seems a bit weird, but it's meant to be a way to deal with fed enemies or prevent someone oneshotting your ADC>

R: Stock Market Crash Louis summons a gigantic briefcase that smashes a rectangular target area directly in front of him dealing magic damage. All enemies in the target area are feared for 1/1.25/1.5 seconds and have their armor and magic resist shredded by 12% for 3 seconds.

<Engage/disengage tool. Big hitbox but can only hit right in front of Louis>

Skin Ideas: Corporate Louis Groovy Louis Monarch Louis Pickpocket Louis Greedy Louis (7 Deadly Sins Theme?)

Lore: Didn't really think too much about lore, but I'd say he's from a poor family in Piltover. He didn't have an affinity for science like others who succeeded in the city, but he did have skills in business. He began helping others to market their products, making deal after deal and eventually building a financial empire that has the money to affect even wars. Besides his family, he doesn't care much about anything other than money, so as long as you have deep pockets, he'll strike you a deal.

Imagine a tall, smikring man wearing a custom made suit and a fedora or a bowler hat. That's Louis. I think this is a unique concept, though it could be difficult to implement. I didn't go into detail about damage, cooldowns, gold costs and stuff like that because this is just a concept, and the added layer of using gold instead of mana means it would need a little bit more careful thinking for balancing. I also think he would have mixed AP and AD ratios, or mainly AD ratios since we don't have many AD supports and maybe it could pave the way for AD support items. I don't know, but I would like to know what the community thinks of this kind of champion. I mean if we can get an assassin support like Pyke, anything is possible. Well, anything except Star Guardian Urgot item 3070 item 3070

"All enemies hit are charmed towards the center of the circle, unable to take any action until they reach the center. The AoE is increased depending on Louis' current gold."

This is extremely broken. With the current concept he'd have reached his full build quite easily mid game, this ability could very easily be made into "dog poo poo" or "broken as fuck." In combination with his other abilities, people could be CC'd for well over 10 seconds . . . this ability is basically an ultimate ability if you've saved up money. The champion would essentially be a ticking time bomb like the previous Poppy.

Previous Poppy = No way to gain gold but when she does get the gold, he is impossible to play against.

Another problem is snowballing. If he is passive, he is winning, but if he engages and succeeds then he is winning even more.

There are other problems, but I do like the concept; it's just that balancing something based on money would be a nightmare for champions that actually do purchase items.

Cool idea! Ithought you meant that he uses gold to cast abilties instead of mana lol

I was thinking maybe he'd spend gold to buff himself temporarily or smth? Like insurance affects that aren't potions hehe

This guy seems kinda busted in certain scenarios. Also, wouldn't having abilities scale with current gold gate him from buying items? Interesting Idea, makes me want to create a concept like this of my own..

No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No.

While a champion using gold as a resource is a cool idea, every bit of execution seems busted beyond belief, and no, I don't mean the numbers tuning.

Let's start with the passive. Cheaper prices for everyone? This basically negates the other team getting ahead because the ally side will have items cheaper regardless. Even if it was a small percent, Riot has never given a champion a straight buff to their team over the enemy team. Supports also don't need extra gold generation, considering they're balanced around NOT having as much gold. Ornn allows champions to buy 1 stronger version of an item they'll buy anyways, sure, but guess what? They have to pay for that with extra gold. As minor as this looks, it could basically give people enough gold to buy more than someone without that champion on their team would have. You shouldn't be straight up buffed just for having a champion on your team.

Q - Make them charmed until they reach the center with the AOE increasing in size depending on how much gold you have? What? This would be possibly the WORST CC in League of Legends. Supports are already based on not having gold, why not give them tons of extra gold while also allowing them a reason to NOT use their gold on a basic ability with ultimate like proportions? This could turn a teamfight into basically a won fight instantly. Why would you even need to buy items with CC this crazy?

W- This is straight up "Turn the tide in our favor just because" again. not allowing them to GAIN EXPERIENCE? I get that this is on a melee champion and tied to auto attacks, but removing experience gain from a champion is ridiculous, especially on top of all of the other things.

E- also, turn the tide in our favor by making the enemy who's fed stunned for longer? This champion's whole kit seems like "Let's just screw the idea that whoever's better wins and make it so that their lead is pointless".

R - His ultimate is probably his LEAST BS tool, but still pretty BS. He already has a stun, can negate everything an enchanter can do, a instantly won teamfight ability which is ALSO CC, and the cherry on top a fear with armor shred.

If you want to make a champion with gold based abilities, yeah, he could use some extra gold generation, but don't make him a support with loads of CC and abilities that quite literally tip the tide in your allies' favors in the face of the enemy team actually winning.

Also the idea that he's some sort of business tycoon I find also really ridiculous. The very least he could be someone like a sword for hire or a gambler, or even a Twisted Fate rework.

A support already has gold problems as it is. Requiring one to use their gold as a resource is just ridiculous. A better alternative would be to have him scale on his net-value of his items in his inventory. That's the only way I can see gold being used that wouldn't be damaging to the character or the game in general.
