Tarlaag, the Darkin Swarm (Champion Concept)

Appears as a glowing red orb. Upon using an ability, Darkflies (Small black and red gnat-like insects) swarm around his orb, causing it to grow into a more humanoid form. He is a hive mind, and the more Darkflies (passive stacks) he has, the more arrogant he becomes. His voice also starts to echo/layer more with more Darkflies. *

Gnawing Swarm (Passive): Every time Tarlaag uses an ability, he gains a stack of Gnawing Swarm. Each stack lasts for 4 seconds (7 stacks max) and is refreshed upon using an ability. Each stack represents a "Body Part" that Tarlaag obtains and gives a unique buff (based on level) depending on which parts Tarlaag has.

[Stacks decay over time, taking a total of 15 seconds to decay fully if you have 7 stacks. 1 stack is also lost whenever Tarlaag is hit for 20% or more of his maximum HP with a single hit. (Stacks lost this way retain the amount of time remaining until the next stack decays. Ex. Tarlaag has 5 stacks and 2 seconds remaining until his stack decays. He gets hit for 50% of his max health from an ability. He now has 4 stacks and 2 seconds remaining until it decays.]

1 stack (Torso) grants 5-60 armor and magic resist. 2 stacks (Left arm) grants 3-20 AD and 5-30 AP. 3 stacks (Right arm) causes every other basic attack to deal additional magic damage equal to 15%-40% of Tarlaag's AP. 4 stacks (Left Leg) grants 4-35 flat movement speed. 5 stacks (Right Leg) grants 10%-25% Bonus movement speed. 6 stacks (Head) grants slightly increased vision radius, auto attack range, and range on his Q and W. 7 stacks (Wings) grants 40% bonus movement speed, reduced to 20% if he has been damaged by an enemy Champion in the last 2 seconds.

Conjured Ray (Q): Tarlaag channels briefly (.5 seconds) and then releases a powerful beam from his core and his hands (if he has any). Enemies hit by multiple beams take 100% extra damage per beam. The cast time is decreased by .1 second per hand that Tarlaag has upon casting the ability.

The targeter for this ability is a straight line skillshot. The beam that comes from your core lines up directly with your cursor, whereas the beam from your hands are fired from slightly to the left and right of Tarlaag. This allows the beams to cross, and only converge on the spot your mouse is over. This targeter allows you to change up how you want to use this ability quickly in the heat of battle. Fire it with your mouse close to Tarlaag to fire a wide range spread shot that is less likely to miss at medium range, or hover farther from him to shoot a narrow triangle blast that is harder to hit but also hits harder.

Hive Mine (W): Tarlaag tosses out a ball of energy that attracts Darkflies. It takes .5 to reach its destination no matter how far you throw it. The ball explodes on contact with enemies, dealing damage and applying CC (starting at rank 3) depending on how many stacks Tarlaag has when the Mine detonates. If the ball does not hit an enemy, it will sit on the ground for 3.5 seconds, revealing a small area and detonating when an enemy enters its range or after the 3.5 seconds.

Hive Mine does 10% more damage per stack of Gnawing Swarm that Tarlaag has at the time of detonation. It also applies a 7% slow per stack for 3 seconds (49% slow max) and a root at 4 and 5 stacks (.75 seconds and 1 second respectively), or a stun at 6 and 7 stacks (1 second and 1.5 seconds respectively).

The way I tried to design this ability was to be a form of CC as well as a way for Tarlaag to get his flies to scout out an area for him and do his dirty work. My idea was that the more flies he has, the more that are attracted to the Ball when it explodes, causing more damage and more intense CC depending on his stacks. In making the mine take .5 seconds to reach its destination and staying armed there for 3.5 seconds, it allows for its damage and cc to be calculated using the stack Tarlaag gained from using this ability. Ex. Tarlaag has 3 stacks of Gnawing Swarm and he throws his W into a bush. An enemy walks into it as it expires and explodes, taking 40% bonus damage, being slowed by 28% and is rooted for .75 seconds.

Reposition (E): Tarlaag dashes a fixed distance in a direction. This dash can go through terrain. The dash range is increased slightly for each leg that Tarlaag has. If Tarlaag has his wings, the range of the dash is increased again, Tarlaag can choose any destination on the line to dash to and he becomes untargetable during the dash.

Part of this ability I feel is to give his Flies some depth. If you're playing as a swarm of evil flies, you'd expect to be able to fly around. The more flies he has, the farther they can carry him, but until he gets his wings and can fully control the dash, his flies carry him too far, causing it to go a fixed distance. As you level up this ability, its mana cost and cooldown decreases. Tarlaag's main weakness is that he is very squishy and weak until he gets all 4 of his abilities and enough mana and cooldown reduction to reliably cast them and keep his passive stacked.

Fetid Call (R): Tarlaag calls upon the full power of his swarm, gaining max stacks of his passive for 12 seconds. During this time, he also gains up to 40% AP, 35% AD, 50% Attack Speed and 20% cooldown reduction ( based on the rank of his ult) which can overcap the attack speed and cooldown caps. Every time he uses an ability while in this form, his empowered passive's duration is increased by 1 second to a maximum of 25 seconds. At the end of the duration, Tarlaag loses all stacks of his passive.

I wanted his ultimate to be a kind of last ditch effort to save yourself when you are getting ganked or need to fight in a teamfight. The fact that he loses all his stacks after the duration runs out means that if he uses this early game when he doesn't have enough mana or CDR, he will be a sitting duck when it runs out. This also means that he could have 100% CDR in URF, which would be a sight to behold.

*Tarlaag has the lowest base defense in the game, having only 35 Armor and 40 Magic Resist at level 18. But, with only one stack of his passive, he has 95 Armor and 100 Magic Resist at level 18 with no items, making him one of the tankiest champions. Since you can always see how many stacks of his passive Tarlaag currently has by seeing how many parts he has formed, you can decide whether or not to engage him at a glance.

I know that this kit is a bit bloated, but I wanted to design a champion that would actually take skill and practice to master, while still being easily counterable (unlike the current top tiers). Feedback is appreciated
