@Riot Changing the "support" role to Commander

my oh my you guys have a lot on your plate rework after rework, dynamic que, role selection... Not to say you haven't done a good job because you've done a fantastic job of keeping the game fun and fairly balanced. But I thought I'd throw my two cents in an area that I see is a huge problem throughout every elo in every realm the support role. No one wants to play it and most of the ones who do play it, play it because they have a short que time. So here's the pitch. Same based champions just whole new role that isn't a Ward bot or the adc's bitch. But more of a General on the rift a "Commander" if you will. With active items that ping a target to make them worth more gold xp etc. Some ways of manipulating the waves in each lane to prioritize pressure and objectives on the map. For example there are no caddy minion waves every wave is the same except the Commander chooses which lane gets the cannon wave so if they feel the top lane has the most pressure they select that lane to have the caddy wave because it's more likely to crash into turret. This may be silly but in my mind I can see these simple changes adding huge unseen carry potential to a generally unpopular role. Thanks.

These are interesting, interactive ideas. Unfortunately, I think one of the primary reasons the support role is unpopular is that people generally like to get credit for things. They want to be the legendary team member, not the one with 30 assists. By nature, the support role does not satisfy this desire. Many of the things achieved by the support go unrecognized, and although these are very cool concepts that could have potential, I'm not sure that they would change this fact much. Most people would rather their work be very apparent, no matter how impactful it is. There may still be some who would play support more if these changes were implemented, but I wouldn't expect a drastic increase in the role's popularity.

Hm. The idea resembles placing minion spawns in certain lanes on the Starcraft MOBA "storm the fort." I remember really enjoying the strategy added by blitzing certain lanes. Could be fun. Also the bointy placing idea is a nice toucj because it reminds the team to stay with support when roaming jungle, and not get everyone picked off.

Wouldn't they have to change the controller subclass as well
