New Mage Idea: Midlane Karma 2.0

Okay, so personally I'd like to see Karma reverted back into a midlaner but I doubt that's going to happen, so instead here's my idea for a new mage but with an aggressive version of Karma's playstyle.

So basically, a melee-esqe mage that likes to stay in the thick of the battle, but without the support skills (current Karma), dashes (Sylas) or long-range abilities (Orianna).

Now I know what most of you are thinking and you're probably right:

  • We already have a Karma.
  • This champ would probably still end up being played as a support anyway.
  • How would a Karma-clone work in a teamfight with little to no support skills?
  • Isn't that basically just an AP Juggernaut.
  • What about Sylas?

Yes, those are all valid points and concerns.. but I just miss AP Karma's playstyle (bully mages)! Orianna is fine but she's too long ranged to feel like a true bully and her shield means that (like Karma) you start to fall into a pattern of supporting your team, rather than carrying them. And yes, we just got Sylas.. and now he needs an evil, twin sister!

Seriously though, I should have posted this years ago (my bad), and Sylas fits the theme perfectly. But what if Sylas and Syndra had a baby: a split-pushing mage that could duel with assassins?

His/her ultimate could be the same as Karma's but used to switch between altering their base abilities to deal with single targets and teamfights. I love Karma's tether (W) too, so we have to keep that as well. R+W could allow you to recast the ability a second time, so you can tether a second enemy player (mini Morgana ult).

What do you guys think: a split-pushing, short-range, bruiser mage?
