Hey, guys! My name is Ilendyl, a casual player of the game League of Legends that love to think about new champions that could be implemented in the game. I don't write concept to see my champion in the game someday, I only do it because I like doing that. This is my second champion concept: Nathanial, The Plague Doctor! I have always liked healers in video games and when I came to the rift for the first time, I was excited to play one, but I found out that none of the few healers really fit my style. Also, I noticed that there is no concept of Healing Over Time in this game. So… you know how about this champion will be :) . He is based on Healing Over Time and takes advantage of long fights. This concept is separated into 4 parts:
- Champion description: What the champion looks like.
- Lore: The story behind the champion.
- Abilities: Each of his abilities and how they would work in-game.
- Strategies for every stage in the game(early-mid-late).
Before you start reading this concept I want to let you know that I decided to skip the stats because I think it isn't the numbers that make a good champion, they can be easily buffed or nerfed if the champion is not balanced. Here is an example of words I will be using to replace those numbers: «…dealing a huge burst of damage and slowing for a small amount for a moderate amount of time…». Also, note that English is not my primary language, so be kind about mistakes. I thank you all and have fun reading!!!
- Champion Overview: Nathanial is a human male that resembles plague doctors during the Black Plague back in 1346-1353. He wears a large detached black leather coat with a fancy vest in it that looks elegant but that has been ravaged by time. On all his pieces of clothing, it is possible to see many holes that have been patched. To hold his coat, the doctor attached belts that pass over the chest and each containing an incalculable number of syringes filled with a greenish liquid. These same belts are joined in his back, leaving room for two immense sheaths, each containing huge-sized syringes. In addition, to hold his various surgery tools, he wears a large black leather case that overflows with bloodstained bandages and rusty scalpels. Finally, he wears a raven leather mask and a round hat. He wears holed gloves that fit the style of his coat. There is also a chain holding a big vial of glass containing a dangerous alchemical solution.
2.** Lore**:
No longer able to take care of Nathanial, his parents placed him at the door of a major hospital in Zaun, when he was a baby. Growing up amongst doctors, Nathanial learned quickly how to give first aid and to do operations on patients. At that time, Zaun was an important ally of Noxus, because the city was offering biochemical armament for the invasion of Ionia. These unstable weapons were often affecting enemies and allies and all the survivors were sent to the hospital of Zaun to be healed. One day, a patient die, infecting his doctors and starting to spread a plague throughout the hospital and the surrounding neighborhood. Thanks to his extraordinary constitution, Nathanial was the only survivor from the disease. He decided to dedicate the next years of his life to make the plague disappear in Zaun. Ten years after this tragedy, he bought the hospital from the city's government and renovated it, making him one of the most important doctors of the city, and even of all Valoran. With no more challenges for him, he decided to join one of the most violent places where his help would be appreciated: The League of Legends.
«The life of a man worth what he is ready to sacrifice to keep it.»

- Abilities: In this part, I’ll cover what defines a champion: his abilities. Each ability is separated into two parts, one where I explain the abilities and one where I clarify it and explain their animation.
(Passive) –** Take your medicine**:
- Ranged basic attacks against enemy champions heal (scales with champion levels and ability power) the nearest ally in a moderate range over time.
- Melee basic attacks make the target bleed for a small amount of damage (scale with ability power) for a short time.
Melee basic attack cannot apply the bleed effect more than one time. Another basic attack will only reset the timer on the bleed effect in the debuff zone.
(Q) - It will sting a bit:
Moderate cooldown per charges.
Active: Nathanial throws a huge syringe in front of him that hits the first enemy champion it encounters, dealing a good amount of damage over time (scales with ability power) and slowing for a good % (scales with ability power). This ability has 2 charges that recharge over time.
Passive: Nathanial gains additional attack range against champions that have been hit by this ability for 3 seconds. The speed of the animation scales with attack speed.
While casting the spell, Nathanial will stop for a moment and will have an arrow in front of him to indicate the direction of the spell. The more attack speed you build, the less the animation (this also mean that the syringe will go faster.) will take time, leaving less time for an enemy to react.
(W) -** Perfect remedy**:
Long cooldown.
Active: Nathanial throws a vial of greenish liquid on the ground, dealing a small amount of damage to every enemy hit and healing every ally hit over time (scales with ability power). After 1.5 seconds, the liquid solidifies and roots every enemy in the zone for 2 seconds.
Passive: Basic attacks against enemy champions reduce the cooldown of this ability by 1 second and 2 seconds if the same enemy was previously hit by It will sting a bit.
The vial is thrown instantly and is destroyed on the ground, kind of like Twitch's W. The zone is small but the vial can be thrown from a long range. The liquid starts changing color when it's about to solidify to indicated enemies to leave.
(E) –** Bloodstained bandage**:
Long or Huge cooldown (depend on the target).
Active: Nathanial puts a bandage on a target ally champion or building granting the target a huge permanent shield (scales with ability power). Only one target can be shielded at a time. Nathanial puts the bandage during up to 10 seconds, moving or pressing E again cancels the channeling. When the spell ends or is canceled, the target gets a shield based on how long it has been bandaged. While being bandaged the target is rooted. If the target is a building the cooldown is doubled.
Every movement or spell cast will cancel the channeling of the spell. Every second gives a better shield but the shield is given after the casting time. The permanent shield is not indestructible, it can be destroyed with damage only; it only lasts forever if the target doesn't get damaged. Also if Nathanial starts to bandage another target, the previous target will lose the shield after the second target gains the shield. The shield will change color to indicate that he will be removed soon and a timer will be put in the buff zone. Note that Nathanial can count as a target.
(R) – Cure the plague:
Huge cooldown.
Active: Nathanial throws his best alchemical poison on the ground causing all enemy champions in the zone to take a small amount of damage (scales with ability power) over time and slowing their movement speed by a huge %. Every tick, every damage dealt this way will be equally divided to heal all ally champions in the zone (scales with ability power).
For example, if there are 3 enemy champions in the zone, 2 ally champions and the spell does 50 damage every tick, this means that every enemy champion will take 50 damage and every ally champion will be healed for 75: 50+50+50 = 150. 150/2 = 75 per tick.
- Strategies:
Hopefully, Nathanial is not a hard champion to play and this part will cover early (laning) phase, midgame phase, and late game phase as a support but also as a midlaner.
Supporting as Nathanial:
Laning phase:
Thanks to his Q, Nathanial is a great poking champion and can be compared to champions like Sona
or
Nami. With your Q, try to hit enemies champions and land a basic attack after that with the additional range. In the early game, you should be aiming for safety and almost never engage. Use your W to zone and to prevent engages of the enemies (You can throw your W on your adc to heal, and prevent enemy champions from engaging on him). DO NOT use your E on your adc while he is farming. Instead, try to give a shield before the minions arrive in lanes and when pushing towers when your adc isn’t moving. Your ultimate is almost useless in a 2v2 fight so you should never use it aggressively. It is useful when the enemy jungler is ganking to retreat safely.
Mid game: This is where Nathanial shine. Your Q is one of the best poking ability in the game thanks to his long range and the free basics attack you can land after. In this stage of the game use your W to zone, but mostly use it aggressively, for example, throw a Q at a location and throw your W to split the enemy team to be guaranteed to land a Q or root a target. Your E is Useful in poking fight at mid and can also be used to shield an ally while doing dragons, Nashor, or while pushing for a tower. Your ult is overpowered but only in a team fight, it can be used in any engage, either by your team or the enemy team.
Late game: Your Q, W, and R are used liked in the mid game. Only your E is used to shield towers and helps while the other team is engaging.
Playing Nathanial as a midlaner:
Laning phase: Playing midlane is almost the same as playing support. Your Q is again, used to poke and land a basic attack after. Use your W to engage and take a kill with another Q. You should always use your E on you or the turret if the enemy champion is pushing fast. Your ult is fine for engaging or to prevent a gank by the enemy jungler.
Mid game: This is exactly the same as playing support. You should bring utility to your team and damage in poking fight. Do not take kills, Nathanial, has a lot of utility and can still be useful even with no kills. You should let them to your other champions that need it in your team.
Late game: This is exactly the same as playing support.
Thanks to everyone who read all this concept. This is the part that I like the most. Where I get feedbacks from other players in the game. So please, upvote if you like the idea and if not, don't be shy to downvote. If you think that I forgot something important or if you have any question about the champion let me know in the comments. I will be happy to answer the best as I can. Please take a minute to answer the poll.
Also, I am looking for players with some skills at drawing to put more colors in concepts (champions and skills). PM me if you are interested.
