Trying to be helpful

Seems like-
Any attempt to be helpful in a game- as far as providing direction for players- has been met with my immediate reprimand as of late this season. I am all for preventing people who detract from the community from playing the game, but lately i have found myself in riots cross hairs and each time it seems that the ban comes Easier and easier. What i can not comprehend is why riot provides me with a set of chat logs, but doesn't seem to review them themselves.

Not i am no challenger tier player, but i have been playing since season one and have some understanding of the game. If i see a TEAMMATE making the same mistake over and over i try my best, in a positive manner, to help correct their play. More often than not this leads to said player just being furious. Not a big deal if one person is mad, but by the end of the game they have rallied the team to believe that i just flamed and tilted them. Now i get ban for trying to be helpful.

Just curious who thinks that people who constantly report people for unwarranted negative attitudes should receive a chat reception ban instead of placing blame solely on person they, and those they have convinced to report, report. The current system is helpful, until people tyring to be helpful have chat logs showing such and receive 14 day bans...

WTF riot; why have a chat if it just tilts people who need help and gets people with the best intentions of doing so ban? Maybe just expand those in game hints; explain positioning in them and how team fights function for those who don't choose to learn them, but still have power to report others.

You've really got to do something to rethink report/ban and match-making; one 100% encourages the other and visa a versa

Every person is different. Some may realize a mistake they made upon it going sour while others just want to play the way the play. Perhaps some out there take being given advice as condescending (even if you explain it in a positive manner, as you say!) or may feel embarrassed/humiliated. Have you considered asking if they wanted some advice/coaching (as not everyone does) first? If you enjoy helping others get better, you could also inform the lobby via post-game (not recommend, but inform) that you enjoy coaching/helping and to friend you if they're interested. You'd be surprised how many players do aspire to be better! The beauty of online gaming is that everyone plays and thinks differently! So if they feel you're trying to change it, some may react with hostility - especially mid game when stress/tension may already be thick. Or, instead of saying "Vayne, you need to position yourself in the back", word it differently. One example would be, if you're playing a supportive Champion, you could say "Alright, Vayne, let's team up! You poke them from our back and I'll protect you!"

As for Riot, they do review their Tribunal and have a great support staff - have you considered opening a support ticket with them if you feel you were wrongly punished?

Hope I was able to shed some light and help! [sg-kiko]
