Slight Changes To The Client Will Spur Players To Interact With More with Riot(sales, lore, esports)
@Riot SapMagic (?), other potention Rioters reading this, and my fellow summoners,
(sorry I couldn't figure out how to tag "devs" and with a quick 2 minute search on position titles and Riot SapMagic seemed like he would be able to give some solid advice or route me in the right direction).
I was curious if there was a method to change the order of your custom-made runes besides deleting them and redoing them which I've done one too many times :"D (they don't seem to be organized alphabetically, by rune type, etc). I've been only using one page mostly since the rune change years ago which nullified the need of multiple pages which doesn't creates a dissatisfied feeling because I've spent some serious money supporting Riot and purchasing these pages (and in no way does this entitle me to change the game at my whim or anyone else's, mind the Rioters). I would like to be able to control the order that they appear to help with changing runes on the fly for certain champions/different match ups/ play-styles as I'm beginning to become more serious with ranked. Is there some function that allows for the manual changing and ordering of the runes? Picking some of those up and waiting every year for them to go on the two for one IP sale; however, now-a-days I'm singling down my champion pool and would like to run multiple pages for one champ (ie keystones).
If these end up not being implemented I was curious where I could make a post to increase awareness, to see if this is something feasible. What Riot employee should I try to contact through the forum? This is the first time that I can remember writing something on the new forum so I'm excited for making my first post after lurking for sometime ( Especially on reddit).
Since I'm not a computer science/ software engineer, I may not understand the exact gravity of the project; I'm not entirely sure but it seems like if this would be a simple feature that would be add another layer of quality of life changes which you seem to already be playing with every now and then. to the client. The whole goal of the changes is to create a smoother and less frustrating League of legends experience that would be found instantly intuitive by the player base and reduce irritation by increasing the times that a player chooses the correct or desired rune page and not something incorrect or some random default rune page that may make no sense in most matchups (mistakes will still happen still to negligence/troll). This becomes even more critical when your'e say in your gold promos and your mid lane zilean bring conquer into an mobile assassin lane.
This would help also usher in newer players with friendly UI In stark contrast to a government website that I visited today trying to retrieve information regarding school
[ https://nslds.ed.gov/nslds/nslds_SA/ ].
Adding to this its important to keep in mind the unfortunate opinion of the common populous is that the client is lackluster or just the blatant claim of the player's distaste for the client ( we all have that one friend in the group, and if you don't have one its probably you ;), sorry to seem harsh I just want to be honest on what I've conversed with other players). This isn't a change that I'm demanding in any sort of way, I just want to improve the game that I've been playing since the end of season two. It would be a great quality of life change and it would be rewarding for long time players who own all of the rune pages and would like to have preset runes and not always hastily building it from scratch before every match. If this could be done it would improve the overall game quality as it could help prevent mistake with choosing an incorrect page or not finishing in time due to having a later pick and defaulting to the basic runes. With this improvement it could also stimulate the use of pre-made item sets for champs helping out less knowledgeable players on what to build. Lastly it would be an improvement to the client which is always something that's welcomed if not indifferent at the most! (increasing the opinion of the client and improving the user experience naturally causing players to gravitate towards playing league).
I understand that Riot as a company may have other projects/may be extremely busy/other priories/lack of manpower/budget issues that could be preventing a truly amazing client where most players will spend a large majority of time (trust me after have 12 days of in game play time; just sitting in client waiting around for friends to finish games etc. can be frustrating). Believe it or not I actually enjoy strolling through and window shopping at the in game store sales and my loot between every game and looking up skins online as I appreciate looking at stats and champion art. Furthermore an improved client can expect to see a small increase in sales (which I personally think that you guys have done a great job with all of the constant changing skin sales and new skins along with looking at cheap high quality VFX updated skins). Otherwise when the client is buggy and not responsive it can become bland to sit in client leading to most players tabbing out of the client which takes potential time spent on client gone which can cause issues with match making and missing queue, especially in the ELO that I'm stuck at people frequently have a hard time even get accepting champ select. On top of this there is definitely some sort of correlation between sales and time spent in client. Being more active in client also creates a stronger community where there are missions to do, visuals to watch and overall usage. Minimizing the time a player spends in the client could potentially lead to a loss in sales as the player may be unaware of certain skins/ sales because this information might require too much effort to get to(there is a lot of stuff in the shop). Personally I just discovered archeduke
and void
[(so worth because of sale) i purchased both out of sheer luck from browsing the whole store after coming in with plans to just buy beekeeeper
. I know cringe champs but i'm tired of not using champs "strong enough" to self carry/ make game changing plays by yourself. I kinda fell out of the jungle role after some serious burnout and the crab changes in 9.10. Check my op.gg I'm tired of getting massive winning and losing streaks back to back I feel like my mmr just gets rubber banded back and forth giving me solid team or just a bunch or toxic folks who aren't trying their best and lack basic fundamentals. At least I'm climbing slowly... [get me out of silver!] while looking at skins and chromas, etc. since I haven't been up to-date with this knowledge since wards skins where first introduced.
Good work with spending in more time on VFX which I feel breaths fresh air into the game and help players get hooked on cheaper champions with cheap skin options. (excited for the {{ champion:82}} rebuild and I really appreciate the little bit of love that was given to older champs with so many VFX updates). Regardless if all of this is too complicated and would just cause more bugs it was just an idea that I was excited about while spending too much time making runes and item sets. I would love to talk to someone from riot about this and to see if there are any interesting plans for the future of the client since its seems to only be improving( short of occasional-frequent client freezes all seems to be going in the right direction). Seems like some people are playing around with time causing lag at the worst time [
