DuoMatch for League of Legends on the App Store

Many moons ago, I dreamt of a Summoner's Rift where you could find people to DuoQueue with at the tips of your fingers. It's been a long road, which has involved me temporarily dropping out of uni to finish it, but a year later, I am proud to release that dream I had in the form of a free app: I present to you, DuoMatch!

#What is DuoMatch?

Of course, you are likely wondering what this app has to offer you. DuoMatch has been designed to allow you to find players in your country who match the criteria you are looking for in your dream teammate. These include cases where:

• You are an AD Carry, looking for a fellow support,
• You like playing with teammates over Skype, and need someone to coordinate plays with verbally,
• You are Faker, and need someone who isn't Platinum peasantry to duo with,
• You just want to find girls or guys near you who play League,

No matter what sort of player you are looking for, I have made DuoMatch with the sole intention of creating a tool which gives the League community the interconnection it deserves.

In the words of DMX, "Don't get it twisted". DuoMatch isn't Facebook for League of Legends. That would be useless.

Think of DuoMatch more as a mix between Tinder and AutoTrader. You are a skilled driver, in need of a copilot who can help direct you straight to victory. With DuoMatch, you can find that copilot, and many more to choose from. In this case, your copilot is a teammate of equal or greater skill to you, who you can communicate with over Skype (if you so wish) to navigate the Fields of Justice with vigour.

"To triumph!" -Garen

#What is does

Here are some of the snazzy things DuoMatch can do:

• Customise your profile with a profile picture, short bio, and in-game information,

• Search for Summoners by country, or search by entire continent if you fancy,

• Add people by sending them a DuoRequest. Once they accept, they are your DuoPartner. You can send them direct messages for free, WhatsApp style, and organise to play together,

• Add your DuoPartners on Skype for extra teamwork capability,

#About Me

Now I realise that you guys just want to hear about the app, you may not really care who made it. But in case you do, here's a story of how DuoMatch came to be.

I've been playing LoL since mid-Season 2, back in the days where the meta was an esoteric concept thyroids used. My favourite champion was Mordekaiser, for the simple reason that if I fed, I could simply ghost the enemy ADC when they died, and flip the game on its head. I always enjoyed playing with people that I knew over voice, and a lot of people I knew also enjoyed doing it much more than playing alone. Unfortunately, I don't believe I ever rose above Silver I, which is ironic for a guy creating an app based on finding good players.

Anyway, the years went by when I'd play alone, not really having any friends to play with, and I eventually started university. I had had an offer from medical school, but missed the grades, so I ended up studying BioMedical Sciences with the hope of entering Medicine afterwards.

Here, my brother introduced me to the concept of programming apps. In the space of 15 minutes, I'd decided that 3 years worth of wanting to do Medicine paled in comparison to creating sick apps for a living. So I spent the next 2 years honing my programming skills (which are still quite rudimentary), and making apps which I thought were pretty awesome whilst half-heartedly studying for my degree. One day, whilst meditating on ideas in my room, I suddenly had an idea for an app that could change the dynamic of the league community, if people thought it was as cool as I did.

After maybe half a year of working on this app, I realised if I were to release if before leaving uni, I would need more time. So I decided to drop out for the year in order to finish the app. Another few months passed, and after many hundreds of hours of coding, my app is finally in a place where I am proud to release it. With any good fortune, I will have indeed created something which provides the league community with a great service which can add a new social dimension to the fields of justice. If not, I will not regret. I am proud of what I have created, and will know I gave it my all.

It's a little intimidating to release something which has been quite personal to me for such a long time to the world, to receive its deserved praise or critique. But I have high hopes that it will serve at least a few people during its time.
