Ideas for New player rewards, incentives and New maps.
I will thanks Riot first, Riot, thanks for making something ive always dreamed about in this game, which is, the loot and crafting tools. The game is free but to really enjoy and for Riot to keep it running we need to buy stuff and spend the RP. However, the game should provide free content for you to unlock if you perform well. The way this concept is applied both balances risk and reward and doesnt result in any loss to Riot. It actually enhances the competition in the game. More people will play , which means the queues are shorter, people learn more champs, and everyone is much happier and less toxic due to the fact that currently the only rewards in the game come mostly through the silver and gold bracket end season rewards, and that wouldnt be the case anymore. Now I believe that the season rewards should be the top of the reward pyramid the end of the ladder and the ultimate goal. However, if we could have incentives, such as this current new system which gives u free unlockable content as long as u perform well, people would enjoy the game much more, with a greater usage of the LoL product as well as an promoting, and fostering loyalty towards the game as a videogame hobby for the main player base of LoL. Thus its my belief that incentives into this type of rewards will improve the general mood of the community and lower toxicity to great extent througout the servers. And Riot should build and work upon this solid base to provide greater incentives over time.
Now the ideas. I wanted to share three thoughts I currently believe would enhance the product, of these there are 2 additions to the reward system.
Additions to the reward system.
- Achievements for collecting content: League can be a great game and consistent good quality players should be rewarded for specific reasons. For example, most of the games you get through steam have an achievement page. I think this should be adapted so that under 4 or 5 specific conditions based on importance you could get a ward, icon, champion or skin reward. Like, if u have every champion in the game, or every champion which fills a role, lets say every fighter champ, or every mage, you would be rewarded. In the case of having all in a role lets say, you would get a profile icon for that role, or a ward icon. In case you have every champ in the game, after 2 or 3 days, Riot could give you a low cost skin for one of your main champs on the role that you most consistenly have played in the last two seasons (which gives you a good average). On giving the rewards, Riot should ask the player if he accepts the reward, for he might want his main to be changed throughouht progression and could want to get the reward later on or in the next season so it goes to his most liked role. There should be 3 achievement brackets for skin/champion possesion.
AND,
- KDA and performance rewards: League can be a hard game sometimes, and sometimes you are the one carrying your team consistently throughout the games. Being that the case, I personally believe that rewarding players on their kdas could go a long way to make league a more competitive and enjoyable game. If people have good incentives to better their numbers, they will do just that, instead of winning the wrong way and being heavy on their teams, this will result in better games througout the servers. So i believe players should be rewarded if their numbers are consistently good. There should be brackets for 2:5 to 3:5 kdas, 3:5 to 5:0 kdas, and for 5:0 kdas and above. Three brackets, here you can play with the rewards and be progressive. Also special rewards to non toxic players.
So in all you would have 3 types of rewards people would normally work for, and 4, the ultimate goal, which is the season reward. 4 types of rewards in all. I do know as a player that you normally have 3 or 4 skins for the champs you use. you normally do 3 or 4 per role and you have atleast one skin for each so the money is already there. Now this type of changes would make the the community move towards a great competitive, teamwork based, non toxic, and enjoyable game for most of the base. More than that, the great increase in customers would result in more income for the game , which would bring up the final point I want to adress.
Final Point:
NEW MAPS.
Currently the two main maps most of the fan base use is summoners rift for normals and ranked, and the aram howling abyss map. The game currently has 129 champs. but only two maps to really use them in. Which is something that should be addressed. The lore in this game has a unique, special and great potential. So far we get changes to lore and sometimes rare champion reworks. But the problem is that there are 129 champs so adding content the community would like is a extremely long task with a low impact on the game if its done through the champs individually. There is a better way. With new maps, entire factions of Runeterra can be addressed, like Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Frejlord, Shurima, etc, instead of being champ per champ based.
Ideas for implementation: We need a winter snow map based on the frejlord, a desert map based on shurima, a pirate map based on bilgewater, a map based on the demacian empire, and one on noxus, one of the Void etc, until all factions have their map. Now making them different than summoners rift would make the game much more complex unnecessarily. So its my belief that it would work better if the maps were based on summoners rift, so that most if not all of the plays and all the game lets you do on summoners rift when you control a champion is the same on the new maps. The changes could be based on this:
- The map looks like a factions region.
- The minions and towers reflect a faction.
- the jungles and monsters are made according to a factions role. Changes would be applied to scuttle, dragon and baron, visually and in sounds but same stats same everything, just a different look.
- Red and blue inhibitors and nexus towers and nexuses each represent an idea inside a faction and the other another idea inside the faction Ex. Bilgewater map with captain fortune and gankplank bases. Shurima map with azir nexus and xerath nexus.
- Every new map has a new tileset complete with new visuals and new sounds.
- There are slight weather effects based on the maps.
- The corners of the map reflect the faction, ex. space for void map, desert canyons for shurima, mountain peaks for frejlord, the sea for bilgewater, etc
This idea of the new maps can be summed up into one line: Skins for Summoner Rift. Its been 5 seasons, and the Institute of War has made progress.
About the timing of the delivery of new maps, it could be atleast 1 every 6 months, until all factions are addressed. Imagine fighting in space, in the Void, or in the Deserts of Shurima, or The Snow peaks of Frejlord, basically all around the world of LoL, the potential of the new maps is great.
Finally I must say that I enjoy giving feedback for I think Riot is a company that listens to its customers as much as it can, and I wanna thank Riot for this great game.
