[Ao Shin] Fuck it, I'll do it
"Ao is the family name of the mythological dragon kings, who rule water and weather. This tells us right away that this is a powerful, elegant being, above the concerns and rules of men. Shin can mean many things, one of which is prosperity. It also means a rising storm. Ao Shin embodies this elemental duality, capable of raining good fortune on his allies and, in the very next breath, bringing stormy, thunderous ruin upon his foes."
Basically what I get from this is that Ao Shin is a support. But he is not a play-maker support. Instead, he is a really powerful and superior being that watches over his allies from above the clouds and gives them opportunities to make plays by themselves, while at the same time letting out all his furry against his opponents.
Ao Shin gives his people rain but they still have to work for it if they want to harvest something. and when he gets mad, he gets very mad!
with this in mind I tried to create a kit that:
- has an overall passive kit, without having a passive game-play (that would be boring)
- makes him feel very powerful, specially when he is taking out his rage on his opponents.
Passive:
Ao shin flies high above the clouds (like he is permanently knocked up or something). While in the air, he:
- can fly over terrain and units
- is completely immune to everything
- using abilities causes him to land and become vulnerable.
- Ao Shin cannot move while he is on the ground. (still in discussion... maybe he can)
- Ao Shin cannot rise while under the effect of hard cc
- using summoners or active items causes him to land on the ground for 2 seconds. and they will only trigger after the landing animation is complete
Ao Shin cannot auto-attack
Q: Thunder (no cost) (3 sec base cooldown - 0.5 sec cooldown with 2.5 attack-speed)
Ao Shin lands on the ground and summons a lightning to hit on a target. then he quickly rises again.
using this ability gives him stacks of "charge" that can be used as a resource for other abilities. gain 1/2/3/4/5 stacks per cast
this attack can critically strike and scales with 100% AD + 30% AP. it does not proc on-hit-effects but procs spell effects like a normal ability. the cool-down is based on attack-speed. it deals magic damage. it can be used on structures.
W: Rain (toggle; cost: 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 stacks/second)
Ao Shin leaves a trail of rain behind him that speeds up his team-mates and reduces the duration of incoming cc.
5/6/7/8/9/10% bonus movement speed 10/15/20/25/30% cc reduction
E: Mighty Rawr (10 sec cooldown cost: 6/7/8/9/10 stacks)
Ao Shin lands, channels for 1 second and then emits a rawr that deals magic damage in a cone in front of him. this will stun all enemies hit for 1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds
ranged (500 maybe?) scales with AP (70% scaling?)
R: Storm 120/100/80 sec cooldown (costs 9%max hp/second to cast)
Ao Shin gains movement speed and leaves a trail of storm clouds behind him that cover a wide area. Enemies inside the affected area are stunned for 0.2 seconds every 2 seconds. The storm deals flat true damage per second too all enemies. (20/40/60 (+1% Ao Shin's max hp))
The player can interrupt the ability or it will turn itself off once Ao Shin runs out of hp. He will then get tired and be forced to land for a time based on his missing hp (up to 6 seconds at 90% missing hp). The ability will have full cooldown regardless of how long it was used.
(his ultimate can be changed to have a lower cooldown and allow him to walk like a normal champion on the ground. but he stays on the ground while the ultimate is on cooldown instead of 6 seconds.)
I really hope people like this xD
his passive is probably broken but he can't really do anything alone so whatever... he can get some vision on the enemy but if he actually tries to do something, he will die. his summoner spells are also delayed to prevent smite-steal tactics with him. his Q is the same as auto-attacks, his W doesn't affect him, his E needs 1 sec of channel and his ult actually makes him die faster...
his Q does a lot of stuff:
- having auto-attacks would be a pain to deal with because of his passive... so this Q removes his need for autos.
- it helps to balance him because having a skill like this is more predictable than auto-attacks.
- also, it gives him a game-play mechanic to make him less boring (a manaless support \(^o^)/ )
his W is his support ability. if a team-mate is being chased, you speed them up and reduce cc on them, but they have to run by themselves. if they want to engage, you give them tools to stick on the enemy but they have to work for the kill. I think that this ability fits his theme perfectly.
his E has a very strong impact. you deal some damage to your enemies while stunning them at the same time. but it also makes you very vulnerable because you have to channel 1 second before it goes of. this ability represents how mighty Ao Shin is.
and now his ultimate... I really wanted to capture the "bringing stormy, thunderous ruin upon his foes" part... you can cover a whole lane with black clouds that will fry your enemies and stun them every 2 seconds but you pay a heavy price. if you are full hp, you can use this ability for 11 seconds and after that you will have to stay on the ground with 1% hp for 6 seconds without being able to move. you should probably not use this ability for so long... and even if you use this ability for so long, it doesn't mean your opponents are going to stay under the clouds for the whole duration.
...
I think that's it... if there is anything you didn't understand pls ask...
Edit: (stuff from the comments)
Ao Shin doesn't necessarily have to be immobile on the ground... we can decide later if he can move on the ground or not...
Ao Shin is a support class, but I had no specific role in mind when I made this kit. it's up to the players to find out where he plays best.
examples:
top:
ultimate deals tons of damage and you have a lot of sustain to recover after using it. also gives you sustain to use your E in the front-line.
mid:
your Q is really strong but you are more squishy. you will probably get out-damaged if you try to 1v1 though. you have to play safe and wait for the right opportunity...
support:
kind of a mix between top and mid... you have medium hp, medium ap and you get 50% crit + 20% ap with zeke's to buff your Q's for a bit.
because of his passive, your mindset has to be completely different from every other champion. Ao Shin can't kill enemies alone, but he can't die either. you can face check any brush or objectives, you can invade the jungle to get vision... just use your imagination... you can go wherever you want without getting caught.
also...
,
and
are probably the best summoners for him. he doesn't need flash.
I came up with something because of the "walking on the ground problem"...
what if we chance the ultimate like this?
- reduce the cooldown
- he stays on the ground while the ultimate is on cooldown.
- he can move like a normal champion on the ground.
