The Parasite: Champion Concept

I was driving home one day from visiting my girlfriend, and being as we life close to an hour and a half away from each other, I tend to have a lot of time by myself to think about things. Sometimes, it's about school, others it's about some friend gatherings i'm heading to, and often, it's about League.

But this time, it was about a champion; a champion with no name yet, and one that I could not get out of my mind. I have the recording, but I kid you not, I pulled over, took out my phone, set it to record my voice, and I spoke my heart out to it as I continued driving. I named this champion, the Parasite... temporarily, of course.

The Parasite is a Melee Jungler, whose main role in a team is sustain and healing. If I had to choose two roles for it, it would be a Jungler/Support Champion.. Yeah, fucking weird. And that's why it's awesome. See, it doesn't do a lot of damage itself, and it has an incredibly low base health. Infact, if it were to jump into a teamfight, it would probably die in a heartbeat, if not sooner. But, with his neat interactions with other champions, this jungler is every players dream.

Oh, and on a side note: In my world, math doesn't exist. Just use your imagination and see what the abilities are first, before thinking something is OP.

So, lets begin, shall we?

So, im going to start with his R, since its kinda what make the Parasite do his thing.

Now just as a note before I get into the Parasite's R, it will be an ability that is available to use from level 1, but can be upgraded as usual, much like Nidalee's or Elise's. Though, the reason for this is because it doesn't come into use when clearing jungle, but it does come into play when you are wanting to gank, because...

  • R - After a 6 second delay, the Parasite jumps onto a friendly champion, hooking himself onto their back. The Parasite is visible to the enemy, but after an additional 6 second of not casting any spells or doing any abilities, he becomes invisible, still attached to the host.

  • The best way of seeing this ability is a reverse Tahm Kench W, but with a delay.

  • This is the Parasites main way of supporting the team. His abilities work differently and have different actions whether the Parasite is leached to a host or not, similar to a Rek'Sai's abilities having two actions whether burrowed or unborrowed.

  • Additionally, any healing that the Parasite receives while attached goes to the host. If the host is at full health, all healing that the host takes then goes to the Parasite. This will be explained in another ability as to why this is important.

  • Also, if the host moves into an area of true sight for the enemy, the Parasite loses his invisibility immediately.

  • The Parasite still takes damage from AOE abilities that land on the host, but cannot be targeted directly if seen.

  • And if the host dies while the Parasite is attached, the Parasite loses half his health as a punishment.

  • The Parasite can de-attached at any moment, with no/little delay.

Now that we know what makes the Parasite unique, lets see how his abilities work around this feature.

  • Passive - Building attack damage through items or runes/masteries increases the Parasite's life steal by a certain percentage. An example could be: having 60 AD could give him 5-10 percent life steal.

  • The idea behind this is due to him not being in the fight and only supporting champions by attaching himself to them, this passive would grant him an easier chance of doing an early jungle clear.

  • As well, this passive would allow him to deal damage with his attached-spells, converting the additional damage he deals with them to health for the host.

  • **Q - Leap to a target location, dealing damage when you land at that location. **

    • Realistically, I want there to be some form of disengage on this champion. With him being incredibly squishy, I feel a leap is kinda needed, especially to get away from failing teamfights or jungle invades. Or...
  • Q2 - The parasite skitters with his movement, increasing his movement speed and becoming immune to all hard cc (thresh hook, stuns, etc), and half resistance to soft cc (slows, etc.)

  • Either one of these Qs would satisfy me. If you have a better offer, please let me know below :)

  • W - Basic attacks and damaging spells heal the Parasite for an amount over the next 6 seconds. Realistically, if my auto attacks do 60 AD, i would be healed for say, another 5-10 percentage of that damage i dealt. Again, the math doesn't really matter, as I just want the concept to be out there, but if it makes it easier, it could boost the passive life steal by 1.5x. So having a 10% life steal, after activating W, you would have a 15% life steal (10% x 1.5 = 15%).

  • With an ability like this, he would be able to have a much healthier jungle clear, especially when having to worry about such low life and base armor.

  • As well, when he is attached to a host, this ability then works for the host.

    • Eg. If the Parasite is attached to an Ashe, and Ashe uses Volley, it does the normal volley damage.
    • But if the Parasite uses his W, and Ashe volleys, the Ashe would be healed for the damage she had done based on the math, but the Parasite would lose his invisibility for using an ability.
  • E - The parasite vomits on the ground, causing a tumor on the ground below him. Over the next 2 minutes, the tumor is visible, causing rot to slowly spread over the terrain. Once the 2 minutes are over, the rot stops spreading, and the tumor deflates, becoming no longer visible. The Tumor stays there for 5 minutes after it has reached full size, then dies. There can also only be 4-8 tumors on the rift at once, with the cap growing with level increase. If the cap is reached, the next tumor you create will destroy the first tumor laid. All enemy creatures/champions/minions that enter the rotted area, after a 10 second delay, have their armor slowly wither down 10% over 10 seconds. So if a Garen walks into the rotten area, if he stays in it for 10 seconds, the wither begins, reducing his armor he has by 1% each second, to a maximum of 10%. So if Garen has 100 armor, and walks into the rot, after 10 seconds, he will have 90 armor. (100 - 10% = 90)

  • Tumors are visible and targetable with true sight, such as pink wards or sweepers.

  • The Rot and the spread is visible, regardless of vision on the Tumor itself.

  • The Tumor cannot be targeted by minions or monsters, with the exception of Voidlings (cause they're bad asses), but true vision still needs to be there for them to attack it.

  • ** But if the Parasite is attached to a host, instead:**

    • The Parasite bursts out rot surrounding the host, lasting up to 10 seconds on the ground. Instead of having the delay, this rot immediately starts withering away all enemies' armor, still doing the 10% over the 10 seconds the rot is there.

    • A good 'Surprise' ability for revealing you're in lane and starting the gank.

I hope that you all got interested in this champion idea. Its been rattling in my brain for months now, and I think I have it the best I could explain it. Though, if you have any comments, questions, or ideas about a champion like this, please, reply and comment below. Thanks!

I think there should be more to gain from having the parasite being attached to you. Like, the Parasite could take some of the damage dealt to the champion or something along those lines. Would also make the life-steal make a little more sense, where you'd have to heal yourself up all the time before you could heal your ally. Anyways, let's look over the kit in it's entirety: Passive: 5% or so of ad added as lifesteal seems reasonable. Not too much, but if you build a lot of damage, it can be quite a bit. Nasus has 10/15/20% lifesteal, so if you want it to scale with AD, it should start lower than his, but scale to a higher number. Q: A small jump with a somewhat low cooldown that deals a bit of damage seems fine for a Q. Only problem is, it's useless if you're attached to an ally. You should add a second part of the spell, something you can only use when you're attached to an ally. Whether it's a sped-boost, a shield or whatever is up to you, but there should be something. W: His passive is already lifesteal, he doesn't need a lifesteal buff. This spell needs to be something different. I'm not sure what could go into it's place, but it needs to be reworked. E: I like the idea of creating these areas around the map, but... You seriously need to rethink what the areas are supposed to do. If the thing is visible for 2 minutes after deployment, it can't be used in a fight. If it only takes effect after 10 seconds of standing in it, it can't be used in a fight. If it only removes 10% of the enemy's armor, it doesn't do much in a fight. Just think, Vi's Denting Blows removes 20% of the enemy's armor after 3 punches. If yours should be scaled to that, it should remove ALL the enemy's armor, if it had to have a delay of 10 seconds, which is way too strong. The armor-shred doesn't work and if it's visible for 2 minutes it can only be used against jungle creeps. The host-cast has the same problem, though I think it's a creative way to still use the same base skill. The idea's nice, but what happens within the area needs rethinking. And of course the R: If it's global, a 6 second delay is fair. If it's not, have a maximum of 1 second delay or it'll feel too janky. The invis thing works as is. Otherwise, as I said before, maybe the Parasite should take some of the damage the target takes and I really need to know, can he actually attack during his ult? If yes, what is his attack range? If it's still melee, he will likely never get to attack. If his damage would be added as an extra attack each time his host attacks, it would be too OP, so does he get something like a 400 attack range or something? If he can't attack at all, then what use is his Passive? I know maths aren't a thing in your world, but there needs to be an indication as to how he attacks. He doesn't have any damage spells and as you said, he's too squishy to be a front-liner, so he'd need to be inside of an ally to survive ganking. If the ally is ranged, then he won't get to attack and as so, his ganks won't work. Overall: Love the theme, but as you said, math isn't in your world and as so, I think a lot of people have been scared of looking at it, because it seems unsalvageable with the right perspective. I also think there are problems with the idea of the character overall. Personally, thanks to the passive, I would likely play him as a support, attach to my ADC and build full AD, blasting the enemy down, healing my ADC in the meantime. Generally, Idea's great, but it needs some work and I'm not just talking about numbers.
