Death Match (team) Mode Suggestion
Let me cut this right away, I've seen some of the other posts but I'm just gonna have a field day here and give reasons on each of the 'logical' points. Actual feedback would be nice, but we know about trolls and how they'll pop up without any aid or suggestions of making these ideas 'better'. And yes, if there are bushes, there will be minions, cannot cater to one's mechanics and ignore another's, right?
-
Starting off with full build and max level. -Reasoning: Most are use to League as a farm and counter play type of game (TTL, SR especially). By removing the worry of actually farming, you will have to focus on opponents more instead of, "Hold them mid, I need to grind bot to catch up / out scale them." Which is another mechanic I would guess but in most of those cases, it would end by 'end game' anyway, and that's what deathmatch would represent... and End Game battle.
-
Scoring: First to -insert random average kill number in a game here and add 10?- -Reasoning: By having a team death match, the first to get a score of 50 or the game total kills of 100 ends the match. In the later case, the team with MORE kills will be declared the victor (51-49, the 51 wins naturally).
-
Location: A new spherical map or test it out on SR / TTL or whatever is best. -Reasoning: As each holds it's own advantage, we cannot deny the familiarity folks have (mostly with the Rift) so can always try it out there, though a new map can permit more design fun. Ruins of Piltover, Return to Bilgewater, whatever feels more... appropriate. The newer map can have the edge of not worrying about the next point as a design flaw or making it look 'empty'.
-
No other Objectives. -Reasoning: This is a bigger one that will most likely hold back the idea of being pushed. Everyone is use to tower grabs, inhib kills, and to the nexus they go... fine. But in a team death match, it's more of a brawl situation (a little more "Fair" if you would like that word, than 'ARAM')... Without towers to run behind and dance around because no one's going in, it'll force a little smarter plan and strategic champion selection. "We can't go in without a tank!" will no longer be a fall back line. It's a Death Match, have at! You're not pushing towers, you're not pushing inhibs, not pushing Dragon or Baron, you're trying to kill the opposing side off before they get a higher score than your side or get to 50 first, or whatever.
-
Pros. -As a different type that isn't based on farming and pushing any other objectives (Short of KILL that
right NOW!), it'll be something many of the players outright are not use to... but so was Doom Bots... Hexakill... Ascension...
-Gives a faster game mode... though not sure about Queue times because, change is strange. But surely someone has
'd pentakills or
'd an entire team right off SR in under 15 seconds. Guess, like in ARAM, you'll adjust quick or just let them rack up score eh? -
Cons. -Change. It's a thing people don't like. Let's leave that at that hm? -Ya dun goofed. This is a thing too. You pick poorly, your team gets ROFLstomped. Think if that as more of an... ARAM you have brought upon yourself. -Favored champion. Yes, people are gonna pop up with the clear OP powers, but at the same time, it will help teach others how to counter that, or learn to deal with them. But since there will be a kill cap topper, least the matches won't be too long if you have a
rolling around out of bushes 2 shotting folks because, well, who would use a tank in this game mode right?
-Feedback. As a 'newer' game type, this would be important on scaling how the scores should actually work (first to 50, best of 100, what not). Can tinker around and have a good clean plan.
This is just a rough draft, so helpful criticism is appreciated.
Summary: A game mode that does not focus on farming as you would have your max level and full gear and does not focus on objectives other than, "Kill the members of the opposing team." And yes, you can shop when you die, and the basing thing... I don't really know, so... again, aid in making this cleaner would be good.
Because remember, when you suggest something, give a starting point instead of, "Hey, let's have a Team Death Match thing!"
Good luck on the Rift and I dunno, do long division or something?
