[TOYING WITH TWILIGHT CHAMPION CONCEPT] Bobby, the bug catcher
IMPORTANT NOTE: I apologize for my terrible English, I’m still trying to learn the language (I’m not north american), but I hope you all understand and make yourselves comfortable to correct me, because I made this in Portuguese first — you can read it clicking here — and now I’m trying to translate it. Thanks!
Will “Incorvo” Gasperin.
Whats up,
It was recently shown on the fresher Champion Roadmap (October, 2017) that the new champion will be a burst-damaging mage, it will be funny and will bring some really new mechanics and never seen abilities. Besides, there were some “clues” (some keywords that can show us something about its concept). You can read it by yourself in English clicking here and in Portuguese clicking here.
Thinking about it — but not only about it — I’ve made an simple analysis and a prediction attempt, but it’s more up to “wishes”, trying to figure out some stuff about the new champion concept and so I created a self made champion. I just want to point out that everything written here isn’t official and must not to be taken seriously or something like that. I’m just showing people a creation and that’s all.
I didn't make anything complex yet, but I see him like a comical-waggish-insane-crazy little yordle, looking like those Disney’s child characters, a little cross-eyed and “missing bolt”. He belongs to Lulu’s same forest and there will be a lot of special interactions between them.
Bobby, the bug catcher, at the same time he grows a hidden love for Lulu (that of course he is not assuming EVER — boy’s pride stuff), he wants to catch Pix to implement his collection of bugs because he just can think about Pix being a “great cool bug” to him.
As to his appearance, I imagine him quite short (as he is a yordle, the same height of Lulu), purple and messy hair with a beetle topknot on the top of his head (that he always “set/fix” with a spit. He will be kinda cross-eyed but in a cute way, his front teeth will be separated and bigger than the other teeth (not SO MUCH, always cute). His clothes are similar to Bam Bam from The Flintstones but with other print, not a saber tooth print (something more “bug-gy and buzz-y”). His weapon is a great and magic bubble maker from where the bubbles and sparkles are fired. Besides that, he has a “friend” (hate and love comical relationship), called Foxy, the squirrel (yes, the famous squirrel from Lulu’s quote “That squirrel looks familiar”). His kit is full of references about her.
I hope you can “get” how comical and funny I would want this character could have been and let it clear that his “love” for Lulu is something that he will never assume, but he feels it. You can let your suggestions and maybe I can bring his entire lore some day.
-> Bobby, the bug catcher
[P] This squirrel really looks familiar Bobby can collect bugs by searching them through the whole map and clicking the right button when he find it out. Sometimes, Foxy, his almost-friend squirrel, can bring Bobby some bugs if they are stuck in a enemy champion (Units “smelling purple” in other words). All collected bugs give him a stack of “Gotcha!”.
Gotcha!: Other Bobby spells gain extra effects according to Bobby’s Gotcha! stacks, but at least one bug is missed by firing abilities (increasing by abilities’ level).
[Q] Bubble spreading Bobby uses his bubble maker net to blow an amount of bubbles in a cone area in front of him. Bubbles catch everyone who they touch (including allies, neutral monsters, etc) and apply Drowsing & Asleep effect.
Drowsing and Asleep effect (new kind of CC): unit affected gets drowsing first and it can’t be reversed once it is on. Then the unit falls asleep which gets static and immune to CCs until it goes away or unit uses an ability, basic attack, be buffed by an ally, be hitted by an enemy. (This is a soft CC, so it isn’t broken at all for a Q ability).
Besides that, no matters how they escape from the bubbles, all enemies affected get marked by “Bubbling” for 2 seconds, which grants them to take extra magic damage according to Gotcha!’s stacks, but it can only be applied by other Bobby’s stuff, and “Smelling purple” for 5 seconds, which allows Foxy to attack them.
[W] Better see the prey Passive: Bobby gains extra movement speed for each Gotcha!’s stack.
Bobby climbs a nearby terrain and get its summit. Once there, he reveals an area around him and all his other skills gain an extra range. After 4 seconds or when he takes damage, he falls down to the ground and receive immediately the boost of movement speed from the passive of this ability.
[E] That Smells Purple Passive: Foxy attacks all enemies “Smelling purple”. Foxy’s basic attack hits according to Gotcha!’s stacks and causes magic damage. Besides that, Foxy can only attack 1 time within 2 seconds, no matters who is the target.
Active: Bobby fires a magic compost in a straight line that blows up at the ending in a circular area, letting all the enemies affected with “Smelling purple” if they are hitted. by the compost.
Smelling purple: enemies lure bugs and let them bounded by their bodies (up until 7 bugs according to ability level. Besides, Foxy can only attack enemies smelling purple and catch bugs stuck on them.
[R] Goodbye, bugs! Bobby sends ALL his bugs (resetting his Gotcha!’s stacks) in a target enemy, silencing it meanwhile it’s taking damage. Damage is equal to the Gotcha!’s stacks before the use of the spell and a base value (magic damage).
When the spell ends (1.5 seconds afterward), all the bugs run/fly/jump away in a hurry, damaging enemies they pass through. Bobby can try to catch some of them before they disappear in the jungle.
