Does anyone else feel like skins lately aren't as fun as they used to be.

Primarily I'm referring to the new harrowing skins and the newer pool party skins.

I honestly attribute a lot of it to the splash arts. But also because of the themes and how the champions look.

First off the splash arts. I understand and appreciate the idea of shared splash arts. And i really like the idea of the shared splash arts for the cheaper skins (Marauder and Warden for example) But I honestly feel like the more expensive skins honestly don't deserve it. Like Take the new Vi skin for example. Looking at that you see it and think "Whoa, check that out, she is a demon now, and she has all these crazy effects, her voice is different too! DUDE!" That was my exact reaction, and honestly put e in a spot where i decided to start saving IP for her. Because that skin FEELS like it should be a 1350 skin due to the drastic change to who she is (hence, theme) We took a piltover enforcer, and changed her into a demon, that has to be the coolest thing i have seen. (the same can be applied to the project skins, All of them were ripped way from what they used to be and were given new identities. To this day i still want to know who the samurai was in the video that Yi kept seeing.) These are the skins where I really feel like I am getting my monies worth.

But on the flip side the recent Pool party skins and harrowing skins have kind of left me disappointed. I say with the idea of the themes and the splashes in mind as well. The splashes for them look cool dont get me wrong, but it feels like it cheapens what im buying, It makes them feel less unique and more like "You purchased this skin, who has this piece of this picture" Like i said before, totally cool with 750 skins, because its not meant to drastically change them. But with the harrowing skins, and the recent pool party ones. I felt completely turned away from buying them. For 1350 im getting this small part of a large picture? Like pool party Rek Sai, the skin honestly turned me away from her. I felt like it was more of a "Spend this money to change their skin color and give them funny in game particle differences. and now she has a jetski" Sure its funny, but after 10-20 game is it still going to be cool or do you suddenly feel like now you paid money for a change to a champ that was less then you thought. I felt the same way about Guardian of the sands Xerath... And when it comes to the themes certai champs dont feel like you are playing something 100% different from what you previously had. Vi looks and feels different. Zombie slayer Jinx feels like she has a different hair color and then different cloths. It honestly doesnt feel like it would be worth the money. And I say this owning almost every skin (save the ones i mentioned above plus others that fall in that category) for all my champs.

But its just my opionion... and as for a TL;DR

TL;DR Shared splashes make the skins feel cheap, and when the skins that feel cheap dont feel different. Why is the skin fun?

So you'd rather go back to recolors like swamp master Kennen?

well yea, most skins are for the same exact champions that just got skins 2 months ago or someshit.

Imagine if talon, zed, yasuo, ezreal, azir, mordekaiser, viktor or any actual badass champion got high quality skins on a regular basis instead of ahri jinx and vi getting skins every few months.

now im sad thinking about how cool a new talon, viktor or azir skin would be :l
