Matchmaking is broken...

I just got matched with a guy on his 2nd ranked game EVER after playing League since Season 5. How does this guy get into my game. like he's not even done placements. I'm mid silver/low gold elo, but he should not be placed in this league with people who are clearly more experienced then he is. Needless to say we hard lost and everyone was toxic and god awful and was just a bad time for me :/

Surely there is something in the algorithm that stops new players getting matched with clearly higher ranked and more experienced ones so this stops happening. Because neither me or the guy new to the game enjoyed the experience, so it's just a waste of time for both of us and makes the game worse.

Anyone else get stuff like this happening? I know high elo matchmaking is just as bad with diamond/Plat players in challenger and they get destroyed as well. it's just a mess.
