Obviously, these bushfires are dangerous. Estimated 500 million animals dead (8,000 Koalas included, if I'm not mistaken), 24 people dead, 5.5 million hectares (approx. 21,000 square miles, I believe) burned, 1,400 homes destroyed (3,000+ buildings, I believe). It doesn't help to have the hot, dry weather that's been present, and it doesn't help that the government (for some inexplicable reason) has refused to allow people to perform controlled burn-offs (which help reduce the danger of bushfires). Several factors have come together to make this years bushfires particularly dangerous, especially for New South Wales and Eastern Victoria. Given it's not quite the middle of summer yet, probably expecting another 2-3 months of bushfires before it starts to settle down properly.
One thing to keep in mind is that, ultimately, bushfires are a natural way of life in Australia. They've been happening for thousands of years, long before Europeans ever set foot on the land, and it's something that the people living here have had to come to terms with (similarly to how someone living in Tornado Alley would have to come to terms with the danger of tornadoes). Honestly, I feel like media outlets have been exaggerating the nature of the bushfires in that regard, this kind of thing isn't wholly unusual, but it is obviously a terrible thing when it happens to this extent.
So far as a new Firefighter skin in LoL as a charity even type-thing, I'd be inclined to say that Nautilus is an ideal choice (being a water-based champ), as his armour could be designed to represent the protective gear that the firefighters who deal with these bushfires would be wearing; all of that heavy gear that protects them from the intense heat. Perhaps a design that could show people how dangerous it actually is to be near the bushfires when they occur, and the kind of danger that all these firefighters are actually in to just manage what's happening.
It might be a good idea to try and reach out to the OCE Riot team, as they might be inclined to push such an idea with Central and "ignite" a charity event that may help the people and animals affected by the fires, and the firefighters who are out there protecting them.
