My twist on Talon
Hello,
I am, or rater I was, a Talon main before the rework. I loved to play Talon because it had both burst potential and a certain outplaying power in its kit, with a fair amount of cc. It had also a fair amount of problems, and I looked up to the rework to solve those (particularly the "you can go in or you can go out, not both" playstyle).
Sadly, I don't think the rework was a successful one, like the one of
or
. The loss of the blink reduced your range and outplay potential, and while the parkour is a fun gimmick it usually requires a lot of coordination with your team and is almost useless in lane. I also felt the loss of ms a lot. Moreover, a lot (too much) of your damage is in your passive. I may be biassed here, but when I play against a Talon I'm almost always able to block the combo just by dodging the second part of Rake.
Well, the assassins rework was a year ago. Why talk about this now? Because a couple weeks ago I followed a train of thoughts and found myself thinking how would have I made the champion different based on the lore and appearance of Talon. Now I would like a feedback from the community. Maybe my twist is too similar to other current champs
, or maybe it's overloaded. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it:
-
Passive - Bladed Cape: Some of Talon's ability make him spin, swinging it's cape and cutting with the blades attached in a melee area. The targets take some physical damage and a very small bleed over 2s. Talon heals for the amount of the bleed. The bleed doesn't stack and instead refresh if the passive is applied more than once, but if Talon applies it three times before it ends the bleed greatly increase (double). _«I always wondered why Talon had blades on its cape but no ability uses them. While similar to the current passive, this one should be easier to proc and less powerful. The bleed damage is thought to be very low, nowhere near the current one. Also the 3-hit proc can be achieved only using his full combo, Ulti included, in melee range. The "life steal" is to fulfil Talon's fantasy to be a duelist able to fight of a thousand noxian assassins.» _

** Q - Noxian Diplomacy: ** First cast: Talon next aa is empowered and reveal the target for some time. _«Like Talon's old Q it is an aa reset that is not targeted. Can be used on towers. The reveal ensure he can follow enemies in bushes after the engage» _ Second cast: Talon can cast again the ability, within 3s, too lunge in a certain direction. It deals damage to the targets hit. «Skillshot in a line. Can be used as a gap closer or to combo the next abilities.»

W - Rake: Active: Talon spin (activating passive) and throw 3 daggers in a fan-shaped area, dealing damage and slowing champions hit. The blades stick the ground where they land. «More or less in the same radius of his current w, but instead of coming back for more damage the blades are a setup for a combo» Passive: Each time Talon picks up a blade from the ground he gains a damage amplification (10%-20% or similar) for a (very) small period of time. Picking another before the effect ends refresh it and increase the amplification by a small percentage (1-2%) «This should be a way to reward the player for positioning correctly and exploit the most Talon's mobility. The damage amplification should not be able to go over the roof, but the chance to pick up more blades in an extended fight should help to deal with more tanky enemies if used properly.»
-
E - Leap (of Faith): Talon jump up and land in the target position (it's a blink), spinning his cape. After landing he picks up all the blades in an area, damaging enemies that they pass through. The blades fly to Talon in a curve path (same direction of the spin). The damage amplification Talon gets from this blades it's halved. «Either an engage or an escape, this ability is thought to give Talon outplay potential and to dodge. It should be the centre of the combo if used properly. It is a skill shot (blink to a position in range) and not targeted on units.»
-
R - Assassin's path: Talon spin (proc the passive) throwing a lot of blades that stick to the ground; the blade deal damage to the enemies hit. Talon also became invisible and get a great amount of ms for 4s. While invisible Talon automatically parkour over terrain he would go around (no CD on the walls). «This mesh Talon's current E and R abilities. It can be used both as an executing tool, to engage, to fall back, or to follow someone running away. As I mentioned, only if used aggressively it can proc the 3-hit passive. Work well with
because in the same time you could go through more walls.»
Another change I would find meaningful is an increase in ms.
Well, this is it. My twist on Talon. I hope you liked it. I know most likely it's overcomplicated and oversaturated. Maybe with this kit he really could go
and say "I'm your father". Anyhow, I would really like to hear what you think about it.
Have a nice day.
