Mythic Shard Exchange System

Wouldn't it be cool if riot implemented a system within hextech crafting involving the exceedingly rare mythic skin shards, where if you got a mythic skin shard but for a champion you didnt own/play you could exchange it in favor of a different mythic skin you might have been hoping for? It's a rather simple concept but it could make the whole mythic skins seem less of a cash sink if you had more control of what you got from random drops.

For instance: say you splurged on some of the new kitty capsules available in the shop, and you unbox hextech alistar... as a toplane main. you don't own alistar so the shard kinda just sits there in your inventory. With this system in play, you could then take that shard and change it to dreadnova darius, or hextech poppy. Both skins are mythic so it'd be an equivalent exchange, and you'd end up with a mythic skin you can actually put to use! (

Riot can of course tweak this to their liking, such as having it cost a bit of orange essence to convert the shard, or limit the choices of mythic skins you could exchange it to (since prestige skins function like mythic skins in loot and neo pax sivir was a limited loot option, though personally i would love to be able to get prestige kai'sa since i couldnt get it due to not having time to play during the event). I'd imagine they'd have to tweak how skin permanents drop if you own the champion, so that you'd have the option to exchange it if you please or just upgrade the mythic permanent directly. I'd love to hear if this would actually be possible or what issues might come up making this.
