Champion concept (Rough first draft): Reginald, The Vagrant Knight. Would like opinions.
So I had an idea for a paladin/knight like champion and I wrote down a rough draft of the abilities I had in mind. Note that this is a first draft and has just concepts and very few numbers for scalings. I'm thinking he'd be a tank/support whose primary lane would be the jungle.
Resource: Cooldowns. I may end up giving him mana if I continue to work on him, but I considered him to be a resourceless tank at first.
Holy Fervor (Passive): (10 second cooldown) -using a ability heals allies around Reginald (small range I imagine) for 2%/3%/4% of his max health.
I want Reginald to be a frontliner who helps his buddies survive any focus they might get. This would also mean he can pull off some emergency in bot lane for his carry, but requires him to be on the offensive.
Smite(Q): (10 second cooldown) -Reginald's next auto attack deals X damage to a target (again, still working on scalings) and grants him a shield. -Empowered: Target is stunned for (X) seconds.
I want to make the damage of his Q scale of AD, but I do not want the shield to scale of his AD (originally I wanted it to be as powerful as his attack was, but that sounded stupid). So I might make it scale off his AP, health, or off of his resistances. This is also an autoattack reset. The stun is to help him prioritize targets (things will be scrapped, probably).
Channel Divinity (W): 18/16/14/12/10 cooldown.
- The next casting of Smite or Stalwart has a bonus effect.
This is sort of like
and
having an unholy baby and then a divorce. Like Rengar, there is an empowering effect in the ability, but it requires using another ability to activate rather than stacking charges.
Stalwart (E): (15 second cooldown)
- Reginald's health is replaced with 3 health tics (like a ward) that slowly decay over time. While in this mode, Reginald doesn't take damage from spells or abilities that are not empowered autoattacks (so
's Q still takes it down, but he'll be immune to the damage of
's Q). He is not immune to stuns or other forms of CC in this effect, but damage is ignored.
Empowered: Does not decay until an enemy takes down a tic.
This is probably his most unique mechanic (and probably his most unhealthy). This ability requires people to focus him so that he cannot just go and smite people all day (being resourceless means he'll be encouraged to build CDR, so he'll be able to smite people a lot late game) and they would have to use auto attacks to do so. So it's a pseudo aggro mechanic.
Now for why you do not want to ignore him when he uses this ability.
Holy Nimbus (R): Reginald creates a zone centered around him. This zone follows him and enemies in this zone that attack anyone but Reginald have X damage reflected back at them.
Empowered (still debating if he should empower this): Holy Nimbus lasts longer (still need to decide how long it would last and how big the zone is).
He drops this in a teamfight, brings up his E and thus calls everyone to his attention. Or the enemy team can run. Against juggernauts this probably wouldn't be as powerful since they can take what they dish out. But squishy champs like
or
would be in danger of taking heavy damage (unless they have lots of lifesteal I guess).
So ignoring the non existent numbers, how are these abilities concept/gameplay wise? Too toxic?
