i don't think that i'm the first one who think about this but..... you can make an option just like invitation but it's not an invitation , it's a challenge !! we search for a game and go as enemies not allies . just a new button under "invite friend" called "challenge friend" (custom games are not bad but it's not with the same pleasure u know) :D think about .... i know you can do it ;)
