Champion Concept: Bjarnvald - The Northern Thunder
Hey all, a little while back I got inspired to have some fun and design my own champion. As you can probably guess from my summoner name, I have an interest in Norse mythology, which has always attracted me to the Freljordian characters, namely

, who were two of the earliest champions I picked up when I started playing. One thing I always found cool about their kits is that you were rewarded for running headfirst into battle, and become stronger and stronger the more punishment you take.
So with that theme in mind, I set about creating my own viking beserker. Unfortunately I'm no artist so what I have below is only his stats and abilities, but I imagine him to look like somewhat of a mix of Thor (who you might be able to guess Bjarnvald is heavily based upon) and Johan Hegg of Amon Amarth, basically a dark, brooding, god of thunder. In addition to my lack of artistic skill, I have little knowledge of the finer points of champion balance, so some of the numbers below are probably a little wack, but the basic idea is still there. Passive – For Victory or Death
If Bjarnvald is dealt 10% of his maximum health as damage over 3 seconds, he will go into a fury, surrounding himself with electricity, causing his next ability within 5 seconds gains bonus effects. (15/12.5/10/7.5 second cooldown at levels 1/6/11/16) NOTE: Will have visual effect showing when buff is active

Bjarnvald winds up his hammer before swinging and dealing from 50/65/80/95/110 (+0.6 bonus attack damage) up to 100/130/160/190/220 (+1.2 bonus attack damage) physical damage to all enemy units in front of him. Does 66% damage to minions and monsters. NOTE: Area of effect covers about a 120-150o angle, centered in front of Bjarnvald. Swing should probably be vertical rather horizontal, so the damage can be applied at equal time and not be desynced from the animation
Passive Bonus – Deals an additional 30/50/70/90/110 magic damage and knocks back units hit a short distance.
Cost – 60/65/70/75/80 mana
Cooldown – 10/9/8/7/6 seconds

W – Thunderclap
Bjarnvald’s next basic attack becomes charged, dealing an additional 15/35/55/75/95 (+0.4 bonus attack damage) (+0.4 ability power) physical damage to the target. Deals an additional 40/55/70/85/100 (+0.3 bonus attack damage) (+0.3 ability power) magic damage to up to four nearby units.
Passive Bonus – Slows the target by 80% for 1 second.
Cost – 40 mana
Cooldown – 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 seconds
Range - Self
E – Northern Storm
Passive – Enemy and neutral units hit by Bjarnvald’s basic attacks are marked for 3 seconds.
Active – After a brief delay, Bjarnvald calls down a lightning strike at a target location dealing 50/75/100/125/150 (+0.4 ability power) magic damage. Units hit are slowed by 15/20/25/30/35%, decaying over 2 seconds. If a unit is marked, they will be stunned for 1.25 seconds instead.
Passive Bonus – Stuns all unmarked units hit for 0.75 seconds instead of slowing.
Cost – 70/75/80/85/90 mana
Cooldown – 16/15/14/13/12 seconds
Range - 900
R – Divine Fury
Passive: Bjarnvald gains 10/15/29% life steal and spell vamp, decreased by 50% when Divine Fury is active. _NOTE: Want some sort of health regen ability here to help with healing from the active after a fight. Not really sure if I like this one, but it's what I have right now _ Active: Bjarnvald creates a lightning field surrounding him that deals 20/40/60 magic damage per second to nearby enemies. While active, the cooldown of For Victory or Death is reduced to 2/1/0 seconds.
Cost – 3% max health per second
Cooldown – 70/60/50 seconds
