Updates to Old Legacy Legendary Skins

I know there is only a few of them but I'd really love to see an update to these skins to let them live up with today's standards of legendary skins.

I also know that creating a legendary skin is no walk in the park either, especially with all the effort you guys put into it nowadays.

But it just makes no sense why these skins are still priced at 1820 rp when most of them are simple model changes which costs about 3 times less than than model changes today,750 rp.

Reasons to update the old legendary skins

  • Provides a massive fan service to all the people who brought those skins so long ago.
  • The skins already have a concept/ main idea
  • Re-releasing old skins is less work than making a new one
  • Legendary skins make the most money
  • Creates more interest in some of these older champions
  • Improves the champions thematically
  • Opens up new opportunity for lore
  • There doing it with older/outdated champions, why can't they do it with skins? (this is one of the strongest points I think)
  • And again, these skins have really cool ideas behind them why let that go to waste.

Some of the legendary skins I'd like to see updated at some point

Annie in Wonderland

Red Baron Corki

or

Ice Toboggan Corki

Alien Invader Heimerdinger

Firefighter Tristana

The Magnificent Twisted Fate

In the end, all I think this would be is a nice quality of life update for these champions.

Maybe a better approach would be to just release the skins at a lower rp cost (like 750) and just compensate those who brought it or turn the skins into 1350 rp so they require less work to make and again compensate those who already brought it.

Anyway this would be a really cool way to bring back some of the older champs into the spotlight for a little while.

Let me know what you think and thanks for reading. Don't forget to upvote. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Note: (I know I didn't include legendary skins that are already out that also need work like Cooperate Mundo or Gentleman Cho'Gath. I just wanted this whole sort of re-release thing to seem more possible in Riot's eyes and not overwhelm them.)

This is also my first post, let me know how I did.

I totally agree with your argument. The only thing that i find not fitting is adding Firefighter Tristana to your list. Not long ago did this skin get a full remake (the whole champ in fact) and the VFXs on it are great. I'm personally one of the owners of said skin and enjoy it ^^

Yeah, I agree. Even something small like an SFX change and a recall animation would make them ten times better.

Wait, it's suppose to be 1850 RP?! In that cae she deserves being in the list since a new vo is kinda manditory at this price. Tbh i have no idea since i got this skin for free before it even got remade XD

Well if its off the store, unless there is a vault sale, it really shouldn't matter the price of these skins. Many people get these skins for free anyways..

Reworking a skin takes just as long as making a new one, since they have to re-do literally everything except for the concept. If you ask me, getting a new legendary skin is way better than just making an already existing one better, AND it would be more efficient money wise. They can't reduce the price either, since that would be a massive dick move to players that already own them.

A few things to address. You open with saying legendary skins aren't easy to make, then list them as being easy to make. Even revitalizing these skins would take an astronomical amount of time and resources. There's art for particles and animations and polishing up the older champions. Then there's the task of recruiting, hiring, and recording a new voice actor, which is not a quick process, it takes several months to manage all of that. Remaking these skins sounds easy on paper, but in execution, it's not so much. As for your other points, they are updating champions, yes. They're also updating their old skins with those champions. Every skin you listed, except the 2 Corki ones, are champions who were updated in 2012 and 2013, and they made the choice to retain the nature of their legendary skins. You see, back in the day that these skins came out, new particles, new models, or new voice lines merited an 1820 price tag. Things that now cost 975 would have been 1820 back when the game was in its early years. This is why Annie in Wonderland was 1820 (Tibbers changed) and Firefighter Tristana (Water particles). These skins were retired because they no longer fit the pricing standards for skins, but being legacy, they still are available at times if people want them.
