Ok hear me out. LoL, but an MMORPG
The League creative team has spent so much time world building and creating deep and intricate backstories for champions. Hundreds of stories (cannon or not) have been written and yet when it comes to LoL proper, none of it really gets expressed. As a player, I feel that the world of Runeterra has so much potential and I would love to be able to explore it for myself. Being able to see the divide between Piltover and Zaun, explore the wilderness of Freljord and Shuriman ruins, or even discover the secret location of Bandle City.
My idea is, the player wouldn't play as a champion. They would be able to create their own personal avatars and create a customizable kit with different abilities and playstyles(many of which derive from league champions). More so, we would be able to find and interact with champions in their own environment. It would honestly be a dream come true. Some champions would fight you, some would seek your help, some would become allies, and some could be terrifying bosses. And with all the different factions in league, your character could be able to join factions and be taught techniques unique to each group, like Zed's shadow assassins. You could become a pupil of his and be able to learn different abilities and maybe gain different stats. For example by rising the ranks, completing missions, or defeating a certain somebody, you could learn Zeds shadow dash (or other abilities). You could also travel a ways to Ornns mountain where you could interact with him. Ornn would forge gear and masterwork your already owned items for you if you find him (for a price, right?) You could then possibly become one of his followers, after much persuasion, where you could increase your knowledge in blacksmithing. And while exploring and doing quests, we would also be able to find rare items that are in the actual game, like the BOTRK. There are so many more possibilities, but I just think it would be so much fun to be able to actually explore the world of Runeterra, and I don't think I'm alone in that thinking.
