Wukong Rework Idea
This rework focuses on improving Wukong's theme of being a bruiser who has deceptive abilities. In my opinion the current Wukong fails to really make that theme interesting and is a more minor part of his kit. I would like to introduce some changes that improve on that but also partly change his play style, tho its still not to far from the current Wukong.
Passive (Swift Assault): Gain 30% armor pen for 2 seconds when first entering combat with an enemy champion. (10 sec cd)
This passive Is simple but adds a mechanic to Wukong that gives him a window of opportunity to win fights that would otherwise break even or be disadvantageous.
Q (Deceptive Volley): Wukong throws out a ranged attack that does AOE damage in the targeted area. When casting this ability Wukong gains invisibility for .75 seconds. This abilities projectile / animation looks Identical to his E dash ability (unchanged)
This adds range to Wukong's kit. However, its main purpose is to be used to fake out your opponents, when cast you will go invisible and the ability appears to be Wukong casting E traveling to them. This can add mind games both ways; The opponent will be unsure If your E is actually your Q or if the Wukong is throwing out his Q for poke, but is actually about to all in using his E
W (Decoy): upon activation Wukong gains stealth for 2 seconds and drops a stationary clone at his feet. The clone stays in place for 6 seconds. If reactivated Wukong will swap health and positions with the decoy (much like zed w). If Wukong casts 2 or more abilities after using W he will be unable to swap back.
Before we talk about the juking potential of this ability I would like to explain some of the restraints in place. Wukong may NOT swap back to his decoys position after using 2 abilities because that would allow him to trade without taking damage back, almost like having a Leblanc W and Ekko ult all together. That being said its worth looking at the deceptive possibilities that ability offers. 1st of all, there is the common trick where you sit still to make an opponent believe you have casted W. But now lets say you did cast W and you and your clone are both visible, you may stand still to make your opponent believe u swapped back, or even swap back but sit still to make them think that you really didn't switch back. It can get deeper than that, but Im not going to get into it.
E (Nimbus Strike): Dash to a target location and deal AOE damage upon arrival.
This is basically the same exact ability as his current E, but does not require a target to cast. As stated before, the Q and E will initially look Identical until the ability has finished.
R (Cyclone): Completely the same, May be changed damage or cd wise for balance purposes.
Q and E So this rework adds many instances where you can fool your opponent into believing you had used your abilities in a completely different manor than how they were REALLY used. Additionally there is a lot of potential with his W and his Q/E. Wukong is capable of casting 1 ability without becoming incapable of swapping back, he may cast E into a bush or over a wall, and while traveling, swap back but stand still. His opponents will be left chasing after the clone that he sent into the fog of war. To add more layers of deceptiveness, Wukong may actually dash to safety then stand still and make the opponents believe that he has swapped back. There is even more depth to this kit that has not been discussed, but just think of the possibilities, and add the fact that he could also use his Q instead of E this whole time.
Wukong still gets to keep his really fun engage with his dash + ult, and he gains poke in lane alongside his heavily buffed decoy ability. That being said Its clear that some balance changes are necessary as expected, and sadly Wukong looses his really fun enhanced auto attack with the use of his Q.
So what do you think? tell me any of your thoughts. Thank you for reading, and have a nice day! < 3
