Malphite update concept
Passive - Stone cover How it looks: Malphite plunge hands into the ground near allied building and focus for a moment. It changes hue and surface appearance allied building for a while. ● can be accompanied by animation of small stones rise from ground, soaring, circling, and stick to building (or less)
How it works: Malphite cast W on target allied building in close range. Shield, armor and some magic resistance applied to building. ● Malphite don't receive a shield, otherwise W works as usual ● need to be very close to the chosen building and not be interrupted ● if W is interrupted, the passive skill does not go to recharge ● applied shield, armor and magic resistance depend on Malphite level and stats ● don't work on destroyed buildings ● recharge time same as Azir passive ● can't interact with Azir passive (extraordinary building)
Q - Ground Slam and Blast Shards (two active ability, two options/scenarios) How it use: Tap Q once and after cast time Ground Slam activates. Hold Q or tap two times before cast time ends, if Brutal Strikes active and mana enough Blast Shards activates (at chosen target location). ● for Blast Shards target location lock at end cast time ● possibly can move target location when casting (even if it lasts only 0.5 seconds)
First option Q - Ground Slam How it looks: Malphite lift hands over head and slam the ground, sending out ground shockwave.
How it works: after short cast time Malphite deals damage surrounding enemies. ● almost like current E ● physical damage ● have cast time (about 0,5-1 second) (common for both Q) ● can't be interrupted (same as galio W) (common for both Q) ● don't go on cooldown if Blast Shards is used instead ● area effect slightly moved forward, center in spot where Malphite arms hits ground ● wen in cast show small location area where Malphite do direct hit ● direct hit in center area do bonus damage or apply auto attack effect ● direct hit in center area may do small push enemies backward
Second option Q - Blast Shards How it looks: Malphite lift hands over his head and throw stone shards from arms. ● stone shards may hold together as under gravity/magnetic effect ● Blast Shards fly quick and scatter like shrapnel
How it works: Malphite throw at target location (like Olaf Q) stone shard, that detonates upon hitting an enemy (or reaching the end of its path) damaging and slowing all enemies in small area. ● an alternative to current Q ● have cast time (about 0,5-1 second) (common for both Q) ● can't be interrupted (same as galio W) (common for both Q) ● physical and magical damage ● active Brutal strikes like ammo for Blast Shards, not available without it ● don't have recharge time ● requires mana
W - Strengthening How it looks: Malphite plunge hands into the ground and focus for a moment, then stone mass from ground covers his hands and body (and/or just grow at him). ● stone mass move to and around Malphite like as under gravity/magnetic effect
How it works: Malphite channels for a moment and if not interrupted get shield and Brutal strikes. ● can be interrupted (but then it cooldown faster) ● shield strength scales from maximum health percentage and/or ability power ● shield possibly give some armor or magic resist to
Brutal strikes (passive ability, temporary basic attack buff) How it looks: Malphite hands are strengthened and larger from stone covering, it uses in Blast Shards or falls off when time run out.
How it works: Malphite basic attacks temporary impowered, stronger and do same (or almost) damage nearby enemies. Ability disable wen time run out or cast Blast Shards. ● almost like current W ● physical damage ● part of bonus attack damage maybe depend on Malphite maximum health ● have small maximum number of targets at first ability levels
E - Earth wave How it looks: Malphite grab earth/ground around himself and push/throw it forward creating earth wave. ● looks familiar with Gnar R animation, except wave
How it works: Malphite launch a wave, damaging and slightly push enemies back. In end ability distance wave stops and became a wall for few seconds. ● wave inflicts magical damage ● wave interrupts dashes and movement enemy champions ● enemies pushed in wave direction ● creates a slow area after wave ● wave don't go thru walls
R - Unstoppable Force (two activations) First cast (and movement) How it looks: Malphite plunge hands into the ground and focus for a moment, then do something with earth, goes underground and begin to move. ● Malphite may breaks/tear ground apart and dive in, use ground like some double hatch entrance or just being soaked underground (not sure what the best way). ● underground moving create some earth cracks, rifts above his current location (they do not disappear only at small distance from Malphite)
How it works: Malphite channels for a moment and if not interrupted become untargetable and begins to move forward. When time ends or there was no second cast use, Malphite just climbs out of the earth (can be slightly reduced cooldown) ● underground movement as in Sion R or Nunu & Willump W ● cannot be interrupted or slowed down after dive underground ● perhaps able to move under walls or obstacles (but slower movement) ● maybe earth cracks, rifts above his current location slow enemies ● becomes untargetable under the ground (like Vladimir W) ● still get area effect damage (or probably less damage) ● movement not hidden (cracks animation and sound) ● perhaps vision limitation when underground ● possibly can use Q under the ground (without stop moving) ● maybe can accelerated in some conditions
Second cast How it looks: Malphite break out from earth like underground explosion, tossing whole surrounding area for a moment and wrecking it.
How it works: Malphite deal damage all surrounding enemies, knock up enemies (or only most of nearest) and create area slow for few seconds. ● physical and magical damage all enemies in area ● second cast may also requires mana
