[CHAMPION CONCEPT] Aininia, the Maven of Mirrors
NOTE
This champion utilizes an idea of mine which would offer the player diversity that RIOT so dearly desires. To understand what I mean, please review this thread: Ranos, the Blade Dancer and also was supposed to be a true champion concept based on negative responses of: Mara, the Broken Mind but apparently not many gave me feedback so here is the real user of Mirrors. Any and all feedback/discussion is greatly appreciated to help further this concept's viability.
Aninia, the Maven of Mirrors
Aininia, the Maven of Mirrors is a high-mobility, control mage that can make most distances or angles meaningless.
Passive - Glass of Night
After being in battle for an extended period of time, Aininia adjusts her mirrors to be stronger for the coming battles. Every 6 levels she recieves a different upgrade for her abilities: Smoked Glass, Hardened Glass, or Tempered Glass.
Q - Shards of Self
Aininia throws a shard of glass that deals scaling magic damage and applies a temporary bleed effect (AP). Upon hitting its first target, the shard will split into 3 shards that will spread outwards from the target's body.
Smoked Glass - Black Shards
Aininia's shards no longer shatter outwards, but instead, upon hitting their target, will shatter into three pieces of glass that will circle around to hit the main target again. Black Shards will apply a stronger version of her Q and will apply a slightly longer bleed effect.
Hardened Glass - Hardened Shard
Aininia's shards now have a slight knockback effect that, if used well with her Mirrors, can push an enemy towards you. Hardened Shard, due to it's fortifications causes it to not be able to shatter into three other shards but will deal more damage to the main target and have a satisfactory knockback range.
Tempered Glass - Tempered Shards
Aininia has tempered her glass, meaning it shatters into more pieces. Upon hitting a target, 5 shards spread out from the target and each does a substantial amount of damage. Note that depending on the distance or enemies, one target can be hit by 2 or more of these. The main shard loses some of its main impact damage and bleed in trade for more AoE.
W - Mirrors of Selves
Aininia throws a mirror in a targeted direction while dropping a mirror next to her current position which has its face follow Aininia so she can easily cast through it. The mirrors have various interactions with her abilities. If Aininia or an ally casts an ability towards the mirror, the ability travels through the other mirror and is given increased range and damage. However, only Nalia is able to physically walk through her mirrors which can be destroyed after 3 hits. NOTE that Aininia has 2 charges of Mirrors of Selves and yes, W can be cast through her already placed mirrors. If cast on a wall, it will be similar to Bard's Magical Journey, except 2-ways and Aininia cannot be pulled, stunned, etc. mid travel. Note that when throwing a mirror through a mirror, the first mirror is placed to face towards the mirror you threw it through while you can direct where mirror 2 is facing.
Smoked Glass - Smoked Mirrors
Any allied ability that passes through Smoked Mirrors will gain further increased range and damage. Smoked Mirrors now also has a longer cast range.
Hardened Glass - Hardened Mirrors
Aininia's mirrors are now impossible to break, but now are on a timer. In addition, any allied ability cast through a Hardened Mirror will gain a knockback or a stun effect that has a significant range (If an ability is already a knockback or stun then it is amplified). Determining whether it is a stun or a knockback depends on the damage of the ability. Lower than average damage (scales up over time) will result in a small stun effect, while stronger casts get a knockback.
Tempered Glass - Tempered Mirrors
Aininia has tempered her mirrors for an interesting result. Any allied ability that passes through Tempered Mirrors will shatter the mirror, but have it's shards follow the casting. Whatever the ability hits, the mirror shards will hit then spread out to damage surrounding targets. Depending on how many mirrors have been shattered, a certain number of shards will follow the ability. (1 shard per mirror) And now she can hold THREE charges of mirrors.
E - Reflecting Glass: I may need to change this ability
Any enemy ability(non-ultimate) that hits Reflecting Glass will soon find their own ability surging back towards them for an equal amount of range. Dealing only half of the actual damage upon reflecting towards an enemy, the ability will be faster and Aininia will be unharmed. Reflecting Glass shatters after one use.
Smoked Glass - Dark Reflections
Aininia takes and augments the intercepted ability to have slightly more range and damage when the ability flies back at the enemy.
Hardened Glass - Hardened Reflection
Hardened Reflection can now reflect two abilities, and will apply more speed and range to the rebound.
Tempered Glass - Tempered Reflection
Tempered Reflection can reflect the exact ability (damage, speed, and all) back at the enemy caster, but upon shattering, three glass shards will also shoot out, dealing 1/3 the damage of the main rebound to anything around the initial cast (prioritizes enemy champions)
R - Shatter
Aininia throws a small glass prism that ignores units and walls towards an enemy champion. If the Champion is successfully hit by the ability, the prism enlarges and traps the enemy in a 3 sided pyramid of glass. While the enemy needs to break the glass before he can do damage to his surroundings (3 hits per side), allies of Aininia will be able to have their attacks go through the glass to hit the trapped target. Furthermore, the prism sends out 3 reflections of the trapped champion which each bear a trait of glass.
LORE: May need alterations
On a hill near a village outside of Noxus, there were two people who wore cloaks against the cold night air."The moon is a beautiful thing, isn't it?" Aininia turned to the speaker, eyebrow raised. "Beautiful?" relpied Aininia, "What's so beautiful about it? It's just a big, white ball in the sky." The speaker, an old man, laughed, "Yes, I suppose that is true enough, but look at it from a different perspective and tell me what you see." Aininia turned back to the sky, not responding. "They say," continued the old man, "that in Piltover men study the moon. While we can't go there ourselves, they claim that the moon is indeed just a 'big, white ball in the sky' that doesn't produce any light." Aininia frowned, "No light?" she said skeptically, "So what is it exactly that has this whole place lit up?" The old man smiled as he said, "Come, there is something I wish to show you." Aininia turned to him and shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant while actually being slightly curious.
After walking back into town, they arrived at a house. No, a shop for- "Mirrors?" Aininia asked, frowning. The old man, he said his name was Reddo, unlocked the door and looked at her whith his smile. After they both entered the shop, Aininia stared at the room. In the center was a single light source, yet the building was radiating light. "The only light in this room," said Reddo, "is here. I use my mirrors to enhance the light throughout the front and back of the shop." Aininia looked around and frowned, "So are all of these mirrors merely display?" "Nope," replied Reddo, "all the mirrors you see are for sale." "wouldn't that mean-" "Yes," Interrupted Reddo, "every mirror bought would darken the room bit by bit. I like how poetic it feels." Aininia, listening with half an ear scanned the mirrors. All were well crafted and in immaculate frames. "So, that's how you see the moon?" she asked as she turned to Reddo. "A mirror?" Reddo cocked his head slightly, "Go on." "You said that according to Piltover Scientists, the moon is just a big, white ball. Most of these mirrors are clean, which allows light to be easily reflected. A pure white ball should then also reflect what light it can get." Reddo smiled slightly. "And what light would be reflected?" Aininia considered for a moment. Most other stars are far away and wouldn't give that much light, so..."The sun." Reddo nodded in approval. "Yes, it takes the sun's light and makes it its own. A mirror shows someone or something from a different perspective. It can also show one's own soul... I wonder, what will you see?" Aininia turned to him with a look of confusion. Reddo, beckoned her to follow him into a side room.
The room was dark except for one source of silver light: a mirror in a golden frame. It seemed...different. Reddo stood next to the mirror and gestured for her to stand in frnt of the mirror. Aininia moved up to look into the mirror, to see...a young girl. Aininia blinked as she recognized the child: a younger version of herself. At the side, Reddo examined with interest. The little Aininia in the mirror moved independant of the real one and the background shimmered into a small village, not the same as the one she now lived in. "A memory." Aininia said. "A memory I try very hard to forget." The little girl in the mirror was smiling as she played with other children, but tears were rolling down the girls cheeks even as she seemed happy. "I played with the other children, telling myself that they were my friends, but I knew that I wasn't one of them. They used me for entertainment, and though I knew that I wasn't their friend, that they mocked me, I still preferred to pretend they were my friends." Aininia frowned slightly, "I don't remember the tears that day." Reddo nodded, "It shows your memories, but also shows what you really felt at those times." Aininia glanced towards him, but turned her gaze back on the mirror, feeling that she needed to see something. The child grew into a young adolescent with beautiful long hair, a wide grin, and a sword at her side. She wore a dirty set of clothes, but her eyes didn't posess the glee or excitement of adventurers. The eyes, dark and green, stared back and the only emotion that could be gained from them was loathing. "I followed everyone else, always the faithful pup nipping at my master's heels. They wanted to leave the town and go adventuring, but I never wanted to. They asked and yet I still followed." Aininia felt a tear roll down her cheek. "Why did I follow? On that day, I left the village and they led me through a forest. They thought that it'd be funny to leave me behind, lost in those woods." The mirror shimmered and showed her weeping next to a tree, darkness closing around her. That darkness was her own thoughts. "It was then," continued Aininia, "that I decided to walk away. I had no intention of going back to them, with their fake smiles and false love. No intention of mirroring what I didn't feel towards them." Yet again the image shifted into the same girl, but she lacked the smile. With dark eyes, she moved through a building silently. She plucked an apple from a table while pocketing an empty silver flask. "I was found in that forest by a small group of thieves, who let me share their fire when they saw I had nothing. It wasn't until I left that they noticed that one of their purses was gone. They quickly found me with the intention of killing me, but their leader saw potential and trained me." Reddo continued to watch, but said, "You were what circumstance made you then?" "In a manner of speaking." Replied Aininia, "Though it was more like if I saw something I had to be like it. Know your enemy, the saying goes. So I watched and learned to emulate others for their skills, talents, and looks even. It made it easier after I met a mage who I tried to rob." She nodded towards the mirror as the hand with the apple was grabbed by a man in a dark robe.
"Once again, instead of killing me he saw something. He claimed that I had a power that was, as he put it, intriguing." Reddo studied her and said, "The ability to mirror others?" Aininia nodded and the image showed her learning under the man. "It was still somewhat difficult, but I was able to do everything he did after a couple of tries. After teaching me the basics he only said, 'I can teach you no more, but if you were to look on yourself, I wonder what you could be.'" The mirror shone brightly for a moment, then settled back into its normal state. Aininia blinked. The room suddenly was lit by an orange light of candles. Looking around, she saw Reddo holding a small lantern. "Girl," he said, "you have an interesting past." He nodded to the mirror, "Touch the mirror's glass. In all my years I have never met anyone like you. Taking something from another and adapting it to yourself." Aininia turned back to the mirror, slightly confused. "I don't think I can lift this, it's my size." "I don't mean lift it," said Reddo, turning away, "I mean just touch the mirror. It has already accepted you as it's master and will travel with you now." Frowning, Aininia hesitantly moved to touch the mirror which pulsed slightly as her hand moved closer. Upon touching the glass, she felt a warmth that ran through her as the mirror flashed brightly and vanished. Aininia looked around frantically, thinking she had broken it. "Don't look so suprised, Aininia." Reddo said, sounding tired. "The Glass of Night is attuned to your spirit and will allow you to summon it at will. Be sure to bathe it in the moon's light tonight to power it up." Aininia turned to him, "What happened, I get that this is some form of magical mirror but where is it?" Reddo grinned as he turned back towards her saying, "Long ago a woman with hair as white as snow and a blade that resembled a crescent gave me that mirror." Said Reddo, nodding at her. "She told me that, on a night where the moon shone bright, I would find a person that would be able to use it. I sat on that hill for several years, waiting for anyone, taking everyone to this room; but only you know what it's like to be something or someone else." Reddo walked out of the small room whistling a tune she had never heard before, leaving her alone." Aininia considered for a while before walking out of that room. When she finally did, she left a couple gold coins on Reddo's little counter and walked out into the night.
