Today I am going to present to you #Zurel & Sec, The Unlikely Kin A zaunite genetic engineer who lost all but one to a terrible raid, found new purpose in raising and protecting the creation that survived. They are bruiser skirmishers and excel at flanking and setting up ambushes for the enemies.

#The Kit Passive: Parental Bond/Independence

Parental Bond Zurel (the human) and Sec (the genetically engineered assault tiger humanoid) share a strong bond in their father/son like connection. When they fight as one, their state is labeled as Together. While together they count as one unit and have increased stats. (Bonus attack damage, health and range are increased by 15%) If they are divided they are labeled as Separated. During that state, they have 15% increased movement speed towards one another. When Sec returns to Zurel because his health bar war depleted, Zurel will be angered, gaining 15% movement speed and 15/25/35 attack damage for 4 seconds (increases at level 6 and 11). For the 10 seconds after the initial forced retreat, Zurel is treated as if they were still separated.

Independence While separated; Sec generates vision in a 1100 radius and has his own health bar, comparable with those of vision wards. He starts out with 3 hits he can take before fleeing back to Zurel and gets one more hit per 200 bonus life. Otherwise he shares his stats with Zurel. Also he will attack units, having an 125 attack range. He guards a 200 radius around the end point of Storm/Throw, prioritizing its targets. He applies all on-hit effects. If Zurel passes through his domain, they rejoin instantly. When under a turret or both are further than 1500 apart or after 20 seconds Sec will automatically walk back to Zurel.

Q: Storm/Launch

Launches Sec into the targeted direction, dealing 40/90/140/190/240 (+45% bonus attack damage) physical damage to and rooting the first enemy unit hit for 1 second. If cast while together, it’s range increases significantly. The cooldown is lowered by 1 second for every unit Sec kills.

  • Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 seconds
  • Cost: 30/35/40/45/50 Mana
  • Range: 500 (Separated) / 750 (Together)

W: Tiger Punch/Making a way/Fury Claw

Tiger Punch: If cast while together they leash out in an area in front of them, dealing their attack damage (+10/20/30/40/50% attack damage) as physical damage. If a Hextech Disruptor is hit, it will shove them into the targeted direction. This applies on-hit effects. Making a Way: If cast while separated, Sec will run back to Zurel, ignoring unit collision and dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+8 per level) to the enemies he is passing through. Fury Claw: If activated during Storm/Launch Sec will jump on the first enemy hit instead of rooting it, clawing them for 80/110/140/170/200 (+50% bonus attack damage) over 3 seconds (6 Ticks). Also slows for 20% during the duration. When it ends, Sec will jump off, claiming his landing point as his new domain. All different effects have separate cooldowns.

  • Cost: 40/50/60/70/80 Mana
  • Range: 300
  • Cooldown Tiger Punch : 6/5.5/5/4.5/4
  • Cooldown Making a Way : 10 seconds
  • Cooldown Fury Claw : 20/18.5/17/15.5/14 seconds

E: Hextech Disruptor

Zurel can place up to 2/2/3/3/3 traps near him that take 2 seconds to arm. After those two seconds they will turn invisible. If enemies or Zurel or Sec step on it, after a one second delay (and an indicator), all enemies in the vicinity will be silenced for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 seconds and receive 60/100/140/180/220 (+60% ability power) magic damage. The traps are affected by displacement abilities.

  • Cooldown: 2 seconds
  • Cost: 30 Mana
  • Maximum stock: 2/2/3/3/3
  • Stock cooldown: 35/30/25/20/15 seconds
  • Range: 200
  • Explosion radius: 200

R: Double Cross

After 0.5 seconds Zurel and Sec are dashing toward the target location for a fixed distance, dealing 50/75/100 (+70% attack damage) damage to all units in the way. All enemies hit by Sec are knocked into his direction of travel. If they cross one another at a point, they deal 50% increased damage there. If they hit an enemy champion, it can be cast up to 2/3/3 times for 6 seconds after the initial cast before it goes on cooldown. Recasts have their Mana cost reduced by 25 Mana. (You cannot cast a third instance of you didn't hit a champion in the second)

  • Cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 120/100/80
  • Range: 750
  • Crossing point radius: 150
  • Width: 100
  • Knockback: 100

Explanation

When I was creating this kit, I wanted a unique buddy mechanic that would define the champion all throughout. Now, since League doesn't offer the kind of free controllable units I would have liked, I had to work around it. Hence, the passives. The passives ensure, that staying together is as rewarding as separating. Everything builds on that. Q is kind of obvious: Movement for Sec. Now interestingly enough it technically is a movement ability, but only applies to your "Pet". You could compare it to Oriannas Q, but since there is also the root , together with the passive domain setting, it does way more than just deploy a ball. The W seems really overloaded, but that's for a good reason: You should never have a 'dead' ability. All effects have their own cooldown and apply to different situations. Tiger Punch for dueling damage and setup, Making a Way for retreating Sec manually and the Fury Claw for between the two states. Actually it's only dead point is when Sec was beaten and flees to Zurel. But that should be a trade of for not planning and headlessly sending Sec in. The usage of E is simple: Place 'em, kick 'em around where you want to have 'em and trigger them in the right moment. And since you can activate them as well, they make a nice offensive tool too. The R is pretty straight forward: Mince them. Trigger all your traps along the way. Use the advantages of your and Sec's superior positioning to hurt them. That's it. Of course you could use it to escape, but waste that cooldown on that is rather questionable, especially with that rewards for hitting.

#The Story

##About Zurel & Sec

Zurel was born in Zaun. As many others, his future looked rather dim, because of the terrible poverty reigning supreme in his part of the city. But because of his curiosity and interest in science he worked his way into the College of Techmaturgy. He took special interest in genetics, chemistry and biology, and excelled at all three of them. After College he worked for several companies, yet never felt statisfied with what he did. Looking at the fall of Priggs industries he finally could put the finger on it: Zaun was too corrupt to grant freedom to anyone. But instead of leaving the city, Zurel had a better idea: He would raise his own army, take over Zaun and reform it to a Zaun even poor little Zurel in his slum would have loved. Following this ideal, he faked his own death and bought a small warehouse in a more secluded part of town. Unlike many other scientists in Zaun he didn't turn to hextech altogether. Instead, more in line of his goal of lasting, enduring peace, he turned to genetics, trying to breed super soldiers that could easily pick a fight with the heavy machinery. His first tries failed horribly. He was getting somewhere, but something was missing. He needed help. So he looked for other gifted individuals that were akin to biological science. And that's how he found Linda. Though the first contact was about business, the second already was way more than that. Linda and Zurel became lovers, all while Zurels experiments became more efficient. The project was in it's end phases, when an intruder killed Linda and destroyed the whole workshop. With his ideal scratched, nothing to his name and his lifework shattered into pieces, Zurel lost all hope. But one of the experiments survived. Thankfully he took it in, and gave it the name Sec. Zurel and Sec returned to the Slums to start a new life. He reunited with his family, hoping he can redeem himself with raising Sec. And even though Sec was pretty much supposed to be his servant, his fatherly love grew over the years. And Sec loves him all the more for that.

##Short: Birth by fire

“What do you want?” Oh no. This was not good. Uninvited guests in Zaun were never good. Especially not if they found your hideout in one of the run-down parts of town. “I am interested in your work”, said a voice with a thick accent, from somewhere beneath the armor of moving metal, “May I take a look?” Zurel though for a bit. If he denied him entrance, he would make himself an entrance. If he would let him in, he, and everything he worked on, was exposed. Whereas he couldn’t afford to move his stuff, he also couldn’t afford of someone knowing. He sighted. “You may”, he grumbled, turning around and leaving the door open. The guest soon followed. He introduced himself as some kind of hextech tinkerer, who stumbled upon Zurel’s workshop a few weeks ago. “It is impressive, really”, he said, “Genetic engineering in the hextech age. It takes something to do that.” Zurel nodded. And his plans were soon to fulfill. “You didn’t show me the main hall, did you? What is in…?” his guest asked. “That is, because things in there are dangerous and need quiet”, Zurel cut the stranger, “And whoever you are, I ask you kindly to leave.” “But Dr. Belrum”, the metal man said, “What if anybody knew of this place?” “You will tell them anyways” The stranger went for the big door. “What does it matter then?” He pulled the handle, before Zurel could keep him from it. Before them, the old storehouse expanded, thousands of growing tubes in store, each with strangely colored liquids and a fetus in it. The visitor stepped to the end of the viewing platform. “Crossbreeds? Very interesting, doctor.” Zurel sighted. “Yeah, all great, feline and human DNA as main components, several other DNAs to support their resistances to fire, poison, blades, bullets and whatnot. Happy?” The man turned to Zurel. “Sure am. But why all the hazzle? Is hextech not only cheaper to produce and to service?” “How is that any of your business?” This visitor really was annoying now. Be patient Zurel thought. “I just mean that these things are not only outdated but made of weak flesh” “Yeah sure, but they act independe…” “ZUREL!”, a woman’s voice screamed. Zurel turned around. In the doorway stood Linda, his assistant, clearly terrified. “Get away from that man! Get back here!”, she screamed, “It is Victor, he will destroy everythi...” She didn’t get any further, as a bright, violet laser beam pierced her heart. “Linda!”, Zurel yelled in disbelief and anger. As he wanted to turn to Victor he suddenly felt an incredible weight. He spiraled to the floor, just catching himself in the last second. “It was just about time to drop the act”, Victor said, his gravity field deployed and running. “What do you want?!”, Zurel asked again, pressing the words through his clenched teeth. “It is nothing personal, you know? It is just that there must be nothing standing in the way for the glorious evolution” He paced the room wandering from the balustrade to the supply tubes. “Your creations are pitiful compared to the things I can create, yet they might prove a nuisance later. Better to get rid of them now.” “How come you think so highly of yourself?! Robots are nothing compared to the living beings! I can create born magic users, I can equip my creations with force and durability that match yours! All while my minions can act by themselves, without spending whole years on their programming!”, Zurel spat hysterically. The shock still surged through his brain. Victor looked down upon him like an insect, and if he wouldn’t have worn a mask, his gaze surely would have been cold. “If that’s so”, Victor concluded, “Then this is way too inefficient. Let me get rid of it for you.” Victors laser cut through the incubators and Zurel’s eyes followed while he screamed. He felt the invisible weight pull him down more and more with every life destroyed by light, splinters and falling metal. Fires broke out, fueled by the chemicals that were supposed to protect the fetuses. When Victor was done, Zurel’s Voice was gone, as was every tube of sprouting life. And even though the gravity trap deactivated, Zurel felt infinite weight. “You had a Chance”, Victor said, “But sadly they hadn’t had their super skin grown yet.” With that he left, kicking Linda’s body out of the way. Zurel said nothing. He wanted to, but there was nothing to say. No word could fix any of what just had happened. He looked at the rubble. Eyed the rich finality with which the building crumbled, the fires spread and the air grew thick with gases and smoke, most of them poisonous. Suddenly he slammed his fists to the ground. “No! No, no, NO!”, he screamed in tears. No hope. Nowhere to go. Nothing left. “What have I ever done wrong!?”, he barked at the empty room, “Why does he succeed!? Why am I always getting blasted!? I had the plans! I had the money! I had the wits! I… I…” His voice broke. “I had friends… I had… I had…” He didn’t dare to look at Linda. Indeed. He had. He broke down, whimpering. “Why…”, he asked the cruel world, “Why can’t I have a little luck myself?” For a moment, he really listened. For a moment, he really expected the world to chuckle at him at least. But silence was his answer. He cried. It would end here. With nothing to fight for, nothing to hold dear, there was no point in fleeing. There was no point in preserving his life.

Then, he heard a faint cry. A scream. A scream of a newborn. He raised his head. The tears stopped. This couldn't be real. Linda’s voice echoed in his head. “Some subjects appear to be aging faster” Slowly and unsteady he rose to his feet. “They might be ready for harvest and further raising in the simulations” Shaky steps carried the man forward, down the stairs, guided by the cries. “What do you think? Are those first the strongest or the most curious?” The cloud of dust and poison brought him to his knees, yet he scrambled forward, with desperate determination. “I don’t know… Do you want to find out?”, he remembered himself saying. There! Under the rubble of a broken tube. That was where the noise came from! “What do you mean?” With strength he didn’t knew he had he heaved the heavy metal to the side. “I want to keep one for us, you know? So we could finally have… well…”, his own voice echoed through his mind. Out of breath, he looked down. He didn’t believe his eyes. In his memory Linda dropped her notes and hugged him dearly. His shaky hand reached for the baby. It was beautiful. Even for the standards of normal reproduction this little thing, covered with fine fur already, was a wonderful work of growth. The little guy still screamed. “Thank you darling, thank you so much”, he remembered her say, trembling and in tears. Carefully he picked up the little body and rested it in his arms. The baby cried and pressed himself against Zurel. “My, my”, he said, “All will be good” For a few seconds he just kneeled there like this, keeping the small one close, cradling him, incredibly thankful, that there was something to hold dear still.

With a loud crackling of the ceiling he was pulled back into reality. Suddenly he felt the gases in his lung and hat to cough hard. They still were in the greatest danger. How to get out of here? The exit was higher ground. The smoke already was in his face down here. Going up was a safe way to die. His gaze scanned the room. The walls were cracking already. Dangerous. But also the solution. He stopped and looked down at the small body in his arms. The little guy already had enough muscles to hug his chest. As if he was knowing they were in a pinch. He even had stopped screaming. ”Can we name him Sec?” Determination. Zurel looked up and started to run. It was all or nothing. Hit or miss. He had to try it. His body was filled to the brim with adrenaline, grim resolve running through his veins. As he accelerated towards the crumbling wall, the picture of the bright, wonderful woman with the brown, long locks, in her favorite white lab coat with a little pink flower button on it. Her gorgeous smile. ”Zac, like the cool goo guy?” ”No, Sec like the Secundus. The second, you know?” He put his all into the throw. His shoulder hit the wall with tremendous force… and it gave in.

“So how’s his condition?”, was the doctor’s question. “Stable”, answered the nurse, adjusting Zurel’s dirty bed in the hospital dorm, “Just a minor gas poisoning and a dislocated shoulder, nothing what couldn’t be fixed” “And what about his… kid?” “That little guy gives us quite some trouble. Grows too fast. I’d say that this issue won’t stay for long, his hormone levels are dropping, but we still can’t figure out what exactly he is” The doctor nodded. He sure was busy, but a case like this… you don’t get that every day. “While he was unconscious though…”, whispered the nurse, “He was muttering something about a Linda… and Zac.” “That cool goo guy?” “Maybe, dunno, but… hey!” A small shadow bolted through the doctor’s legs, past the nurse and fell before Zurel’s bed. An adorable little guy, somewhere between a tiger and a human climbed back to his feet. Maybe unsteady, but learning. Cursing the nurse lifted him up. “How can that little thing be so goddamn fast?” Then Sec slipped out of her grasp and jumped to the bed. The nurse was just about to collect him again, when Zurel’s hand stopped her. His stern blue eyes told her to go. Sec slowly came closer and then snuggled against his healthy arm. Slowly stroking his fur, Zurel looked down at Sec. Warm. Soothing. ”Anastasia would have loved to have a baby brother” “She sure would have”, Zurel mumbled, “She sure would have...”

##Appearance Zurel himself has a hard face, angular and manly. It has seen a lot of things, most of which were not very pleasant to say the least. Zurel has a bit of a bulky, imposing build, but still rather average compared to other strong men. He makes a good father 'figure'. On his back he carries a belt with several anti hextech traps. Imagine Sec as... well... an anthropomorphic tiger. Sec wears a bandanna, matching the team color, and some trousers.

#Quotes

Choice "We can overcome anything, right?" - approving growl

Spawning "Do you want ice cream after?” - approving growl If Zac is on the team: exited scream -"Yes, I know, keep calm, we'll get your autograph later"

Death: Zurel falls to his knees, then to the ground, Sec rushing to his side "Sec... Don't... look..." whine Desperate scream "Carry on... little guy..."

Moving "Come on Sec!"- groans growls -"This direction? I see..." questioning sound "No, I won't piggyback you now!" "If only Linda could see you now..." -> Seperated "Hope he is alright..." "It's not quite the same" "Kids need their freedom. Yet I am worried" "I heard about child abductions... on the other hand, he has claws."

Attacking "Get him, Champ" - aggressive growl "As long as you don't eat that filth, hit it hard" questioning sound -"No, they don't want to play" "Interesting structure... let's study it" -> Separated "I teached him good. He knows how to kill." "If he was around, I had to pretend I like you. Luckily he isn't around." "One day you will be way stronger than me. But I can hold my own." "For you, Linda" "For you, Sec"

Taunt Zurel assumes a proud stance, Sec climbing up his back and hissing. Sometimes Sec instead will make a funny face. "You don't know us, you don't know our story!" "I am fighting for my son. And he fights for me. A circle never wasted."

Joke Sec pulls on Zurels coat, than jumps on him and climbing around. Zurel does his best to get him off again, and finally puts him on the ground "Hey what... No! Sec stop it! Get off!... That's why I can't take you anywhere!"

##Interactions

Taunts

Any Lucian Lucian : "We know your pain Lucian. But don't let it consume you." "Death gets the best of us, but also

Any Kindred Kindred : "I accepted Lindas death, but mine will have to wait" "Strange how similar we are"

Any Orianna Orianna : "You are a testimony to human loss... and denial." "No puppet can replace a loved one. Your father should know that."

Ally Victor Viktor : "Know that we haven't forgotten" "You will pay"

Enemy Victor Viktor : "Finally" "You want to test his skin again?"

Any Kallista Kalista : "Revenge doesn't help anyone, just look at yourself"

Any Ekko Ekko : "I love your murials. Wish I could make one myself" "You didn't shatter time. If so, you wouldn't be alone"

Jokes

Any Azir Azir : "Your soldiers are nothing, they... can't... act... independent! Maybe for the better"

Any Kindred Kindred : "Let's see who is the... better... team... Sec, stop this! I am tying to be serious here!"

Any Zac Zac : "Hey mister, can we... uhm... (whispering) Sec... please contain yourself! (back to normal) Can we get an autograph?" "You are a cool goo guy"

Other

Triggering Sec's retreat: "Who did this? WHO DID THIS?! HUH?!" "Now it's personal!" "Don't cry, daddy will take care of this SON OF A B****!"

Killing Victor Viktor : "Should I feel better now?" "This wasn't for you, Linda, this was for everyone else."

When you've joked around Zac Zac , Sec will have the "Hero's Autograph" in his inventory. Whenever he is alone and no minions need attacking, he will get it out and marvel at it.

When together, Zurel explains Sec the sights:

Seeing the Drake: "You see this? That's a dragon. (uuuhhhh) Generally Dragons are pretty ill-tempered and egocentric, watching their reflection all day and attack anyone interrupting. But they posses unique resistances, some of which are in you too"

Seeing Krugs: Questioning sound - "Yes, those are rocks. They are pretty harmless, sleeping all day, you could play on them and they wouldn't notice. Those are awake though... But when you split them, you have two! Neat, right?." - sound of amusement

Seeing Baron: Hissing - "Yes, be careful with that one. Those void things are feared and hard to research. Mostly because their Researchers end up as their midnight snack."

Seeing Wolfes: Shrieks "Don't be so mean Sec, okay? This is an disability. You don't scream at people in wheelchairs too, do you? If anything you should accept him as he is and be supportive of his two heads. Okay little man?" - Confused nod

Seeing a Suirrel: "NO. Stay." - disappointed groan

#Tipps

##-> Playing with Zurel & Sec

  • Seldom it is useful to send Sec just out to the front in the minion wave. Try getting him to the side, and gain more options on your next Q
  • When Zurel returns beaten, don't get too cocky. You may have some movement speed and attack damage, but that is only useful when you are just inches from finishing them off. Better be save than sorry.
  • Note how you can trigger traps by yourself. That also applies if you get knocked into them or dash through.

##-> Playing against Zurel & Sec

  • Early Sec is pretty weak, try punish him for being out of place and deny most of their strength.
  • Be careful chasing them. Since they can activate their own traps, you might find yourself on top of one exploding if you follow them directly.
  • They might be two, but they aren't good at taking on more than one foe at once.

#Thanks (and stuff)

Thank you for sticking with me throughout this whole post (whoo)! This section is pretty empty for now, but later I think there could be my neighborhood (*wink wink, nudge nudge*) or other stuff I did, so stay tuned! Or not. I am just a guy you don't know. Don't let anybody tell you what to do. As a good neighbor I took a look at and reviewed a few of my fellow CCOS participants and I highly recommend to check them out too! Go see NM-8, the Shadow Strider for your different kind of prowl, Morpheo, The Dream Caster for waking up at September's end (heh) or Desruc - Fate Beserker for in your face damage.

"A zaunite genetic engineer who lost all but one to a terrible raid, found new purpose in raising and protecting the creation that survived."

and yet as he fights as if he works out every day at the gym? i know it cliche but what if Sec was the creation of his wife, brother, daughter etc That way it's like an adopted son, it would help explain why a genetic engineer is beating people up and getting mad when sec is low.

thats the only thing i find inconsitent in everything, cause i imagines a generic engineer and he's scrawny or geeky, not buff and tuff XD

aside from that, well done with everything else, sorry TL'DR his lore or story, maybe it explained it there why he can fight.

Feel free to check some of my stuff, feedback is much appreciated.

I was rather intrigued by this concept(the kit that is), not so sure about the lore and character. I feel like Sec should be an actual tiger, not some sort of weird hybrid. Just make Sec a tiger with modified brain cells so he is capable of intelligent thought and speech. The anger part of the passive feels a little out of place in the rest of his kit though, and you have one MAJOR problem. You speak about them being separated, but HOW DO YOU SEPARATE? You never mentioned what separated the two characters in any ability or the passive. Other than that, love the idea.

Note: Sorry if I sound mad, I'm not. I use caps for emphasis not for showing anger.

Feel free to check out and judge my concept, Krok, Ruler of the Skies!
