INTRODUCTION

Hey everybody, Fugertech here again. Today I want to share a concept with you all that is quite WIP at the moment. At some point I hope to be entering him into a CCOS, probably CCOS December (which is next month), so if you're interested then there's that.

Ok, now you need to bear with me through this next part. This champion is (brace for impact...) a sniper champion.

NOW WAIT!

Hold on there Buster Brown(s)! I know what you're saying to yourselves. "Jhin and Caitlyn are already sniper champions! We don't need another one!"

Well I would like to disagree. Here's my reasoning: While it is mostly true that Jhin and Caitlyn fit parts of the sniper niche...that's just that. They fit parts of it. We don't really have a champion who prioritizes settling down in a spot and waiting for the perfect opportunity to grab a kill. Sure, both Jhin and Caitlyn have lets that get them down on their knees in a position to fire off these powerful, long-range shots to get kills. But the rest of the time they're just like other ranged champions...just with a lot more basic attack damage.

Now Caitlyn fills the niche a bit better than Jhin as she can keep enemies at range with her net and her traps. Jhin still focuses on running Mach 5 at the poor soul who he just managed to W, despite his W having immense range. But neither of them truly, truly snipes. In my humble opinion, at least.

With Hush, I've tried to design an ADC/mid-laner who hates getting close to people and would much rather sit back, wait for the perfect opportunity, and take his enemies out from the safety of his team or tower. As such, his kit focuses around his Q and the interactions he has with that; his other abilities don't really reward him for getting close to enemies. That being said, I'm very on the fence with how his kit currently looks and how other people think he would play. So I think now is the time to introduce his kit and explain my thought process behind each one.

STATS

Health: 435 - 1421 (+58 per level) Health Regen: 5.0 - 13.0 per 5 (+0.47 per level) Resource (Secondary Bar): 0 - 100 (Explained in Passive) Attack Damage: 58 - 109 (+3 per level) Attack Speed: 0.645 (+2.46% per level) Movement Speed: 335 Attack Range: 615 Armor: 25 - 59 (+2 per level) Magic Resist: 30 (+0 per level)

Note: His health and health growth are purposefully a bit worse than other champions. This is mainly due to the fact that Hush is all about staying away from enemies, so such gameplay is encouraged by all aspects of his being.

ABILITIES

Innate: Leading Shot: Hush's autoattacks whilst in a Sniper’s Nest will lead the targets he is firing at, predicting their path of movement. The higher his Patience level, the closer the predicted shot will be.

[Passive] - The Waiting Game: When standing still, Hush gains Patience at a rate of 1.5 Patience per second he stands still, doubling this rate when he is in a Sniper's Nest. Moving disables his ability to gain Patience until he ceases moving, and will drain 1 (+1.5 per additional second) Patience per second he remains moving.

Hush's basic attacks deal 50% (70, 80, 90% to Champions) of his current Patience as bonus damage to targets he hits. Attacking Champions drains 8 Patience (per Champion hit when he is in a Sniper's Nest), but attacking minions will not.

[Q] - Sniper's Nest: (Passive) When within 550 units of allied Turrets or Inhibitors for 5 seconds, Pate sets up a Temporary Sniper's Nest that he can enter and exit at will. Temporary Sniper's Nests only last for 90 seconds. (Cooldown: 120 seconds)

(Active) Hush settles down with his sniper rifle in the target location, becoming immobile and gaining 475, 500, 525, 550, 575 bonus autoattack range until he moves. His attack speed is additionally set to 0.5, 0.65, 0.8, 0.95, 1.1 and will drain 10 Patience per shot if he has enough.

When Hush autoattacks in a Sniper's Nest, a red line that is visible to allies, enemies, and himself will appear where his intended shot will travel. After 1.2 - 0.5 seconds (based on current Patience), the shot will damage all enemies in a 85 unit wide line to the edge of his range. Shots fired from Sniper's Nests give only 50% of the benefit from on-hit effects, including bonus damage from The Waiting Game.

Cooldown: 22, 21, 20, 19, 18

[W] - In My Sights: [Toggle On] Hush's autoattacks mark enemies as Under Fire! for 5 seconds. Enemies that are Under Fire! move 10, 14, 18, 22, 26% slower when Hush is in a Sniper's Nest and they are within his range. The slow doubles if they are struck by one of his autoattacks.

[Toggle Off] When Hush is standing still for at least 5 seconds, his vision range is extended by 175, 225, 275, 325, 375 units. This effect does not trigger while he is in a Sniper's Nest, but he gains the extended vision range for 4 seconds after entering one.

Cooldown: 15, 14, 13, 12, 11 Patience Cost: 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 (per attack)

[E] - Heartbeat: (Passive) When within 800, 700, 600, 500, 400 units of enemies, Hush gains 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 stacks of Adrenaline per 0.5 seconds he remains that close, up to a cap of 100. For every stack of Adrenaline he has, his movement speed is increased by 0.25, 0.3, 0.35, 0.4, 0.45%. At 100 stacks of Adrenaline, the movement speed bonus is doubled for 3 seconds but rapidly decays, and afterwards Hush is Unfocused for 10 seconds. Adrenaline decays at a rate 50 stacks per second when Hush is out of proximity for 2 seconds.

When Pate is Unfocused, he can not regenerate Patience and will attack 15% slower.

(Active) Hush calms himself, removing all current stacks of Adrenaline and the Unfocused debuff. For the next 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6 seconds, his autoattacks will wound enemies below 30, 35, 40, 45, 50% of their maximum health for 5 seconds, dealing 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 (+2% of missing health) true damage to them over that duration.

Cooldown: 30, 28, 26, 24, 22 Patience Cost: 45, 40, 35, 30, 25

E REWORK IDEA: [E] - Heartbeat: (Passive) When standing within 550 units of an enemy Champion, Hush's Pulse will begin to grow at a rate of 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (+1 additional stack per 0.5 seconds) per 0.5 seconds. For every 25 stacks of Pulse he has, Hush gains 5, 7, 9, 11, 13% bonus movement speed when moving away from enemy champions. At 100 stacks of Pulse, Hush automatically becomes Unfocused for the next 12 seconds, but doubles his movement speed buff for 2 seconds.

(Active) For the next 5 seconds, Hush becomes focused on killing his enemies. His autoattacks wound the target enemy (or all enemies struck if he is in a Sniper's Nest) for 3 seconds, dealing 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 (+15% of AD) true damage to them over that duration. At the end of the duration, Hush becomes Unfocused for the next 7 seconds, reducing his attack speed by 14, 13, 12, 11, 10% and halving his ability to gain Patience.

[R] - Never Saw it Coming: Hush channels for 1.75 seconds before becoming camouflaged for up to 10. While camouflaged, Hush gains the bonus movement speed from having full stacks of Adrenaline but will not gain the Unfocused debuff. Targeting an enemy champion with this ability while Hush is stealthed will cause him to channel for another 2.25 seconds as he prepares a final shot for his enemy.

If he successfully retains vision of the enemy until the end of the channel, Hush fires an amplified shot that deals 125, 350, 575 (+100% of bonus AD)(+13, 26, 39% of missing health) physical damage to the enemy champion. All enemies within 1000 units of the target are granted a 10% increase to their movement speed for 1.5 seconds afterwards, increased to 20% if the shot kills the target. Additionally, all the area within 700, 600, 500 units of where Hush fired the shot from is revealed to them for 3 seconds.

Cooldown: 120, 100, 80 Patience Cost: 50 (at all ranks)

LORE

Hush is an odd character, to say in the least. Not very much is widely known of his origins, other than he had his beginnings in Piltover. But many can make similar claims; after all, the City of Progress is quite the bustle of commerce and activity. Hush himself does not offer insight into his past, instead giving one of his all-knowing grins and a rather grandfather-ly chuckle. Besides, how dangerous of origins can an old man such as he have?

As it turns out, very dangerous origins. Born to a wealthy Piltoverian family as Marquis Dubois, Hush took an early interest in all of the arts. Painting, singing, theatre, writing, even special fox-hunts he went on; Hush adored it all and wanted nothing more than to spend his life pursuing those things. But fate had decreed that he was not to do so, and in a terrifying HexTech accident near his home Hush lost everything. His parents, the lifestyle he had known, everything burned in the terrible fire. Smoke inhalation scarred his lungs, morphing his voice from a gentle baritone to a scratchy and horrendous thing. His arms were also damaged in the fire, and the doctors who looked at him assured young Marquis that he would have trouble ever using them.

But Hush has never been one to simply give in. Knowing that the fire had been no "accident" after top Piltoverian investigators had taken a look at the scene, Hush decided that revenge would be the only true way to continue on with his life. So using what little money he had inherited from his deceased parents, the thirteen-year-old Marquis began looking for ways to exact said revenge. He attempted to learn different methods for achieving his new dream, but soon found that the scarring on his lungs and arms made anything of the physical nature nigh impossible. All hope for his plan of revenge seemed lost, and a now sixteen year old Hush began to lose his drive for it.

That was, until he discovered the art of sharpshooting.

His breathing, while labored, was already highly steady in terse situations and he didn't require great arm strength to life or fire the sniper rifles he wielded. So for the next seven years, Hush trained and trained, improving his accuracy, his stability, and most importantly: his Patience.

On his off time, the now-adult Marquis investigated every lead, every semblance of information, that he could find in relation to the person who'd started the fire. More time passed, and soon he could sight, fire, and reload his specially crafted (and not legally obtained) rifle within the period of a few seconds. But more than often, he did not, instead choosing to wait Patiently and pick his opportunities to take out his opponents. One thing that he never could have counted on, however well he might've planned everything once discovering his new hobby, was the fact that his mind would suffer the consequences of such focused hate.

His mental condition rapidly declining, Marquis fled Piltover to escape from the iron grip of the law. So it was in seclusion where he finally snapped, and Marquis Dubois was no more. The blood of innocents stained his hands as he adopted his new persona; Hush. So began his reign of terror; people were found dead in the streets, in their homes, anywhere that had a good vantage point within a hundred meters. If Hush even so much as suspected they could be related in any way to the murder of his family, he killed them without remorse. On the outside, he was a gentle wandering traveler who had taken his strange passion with him. But on the inside, he hungered for vengeance and death.

A strange fate indeed, but one that Hush himself easily could have avoided. Interestingly enough, he chose not to avoid it. One ponders why the silent killer would choose such a path, but no matter the reason behind it, Hush is most certainly a force to be reckoned with. Even all these years after beginning his psychotic tendencies, these years that have turned him old and withered, Hush still knows all of his tricks. Be warned Summoner; when Hush has you in his sights, you will never see him coming.

APPEARANCE

http://laminmartin.com/charactersgallery_files/vlb_images1/67._a_quarter_past.jpg

(Artwork does not belong to me, but it's bomb af)

Hush is no longer as young as he once was; his beard and his normally slicked-back hair are greying noticeably. But behind the gas-mask he puts on when he's ready to go exact his twisted form of "revenge..." well, it hides his expression fairly well. Some speculate that he picked up the mask afters seeing a certain eccentric serial killer rampaging through Ionia, but the reality is a bit more down to Earth and logical. Hush wears the mask to put a bit of protection between himself and the world, and to ensure his breathing is never more labored than it needs to be. Old wounds never heal.

When Hush isn't donning his thick black coat and mask, he's wearing something rather dapper. After all, fashion never really goes out of fashion.

QUOTES

[When picked]: "Don't worry Summoner. Stay out of my way and we won't have a problem."

Rest of quotes WIP

FINAL NOTES (For now...)

So yeah. That's Hush's kit and his base stats along with a few experimental numbers and scalings. I know that the sniper niche is already sort of taken but I wanted to put my own twist on it. Hopefully this idea isn't overly cringe-worthy.

Any help, advice, or critique you have for this idea is appreciated and will definitely be taken into consideration when I move to expand upon the current kit and champ page. The concept isn't very developed as of right now but...I have time till the next CCOS. I'll be adding much more than this during that time period. Best of luck to you all on the Fields of Justice and as always; Stay Frosty.

i like the idea you have, but needs a bit of work. for starters i feel its a bit overloaded (having 4 different passives is quit big) you should maybe word the Patients resource into the passive to reduce the wording:

Passive - the waiting game: When standing still Hush gain's 15 Patience every second and doubling the rate when in Sniper's Nest. Moving disables the Patience gain and he begins to drain 10 Patience per 0.5 seconds he remains moving.

Hush's basic attacks deal** (% Base)** to (70 - 90% Maximum (scaling with level)) bonus damage based on his current Patience. Auto attacking Champions drains 8 Patience (per Champion hit if he is in a Sniper's Nest). Basic attacking minions does not drain Patience.

this i think makes it more clear to the player in understanding the resource. the leading shot mechanic is actually really cool, it offers counter play but with great power. the Q is fine to me and im not to sure he should be able to shred armor with the W, what would the range of the cone be inexactly?

his E passive im not sure on, but i feel you intend for it to work while in Sniper's Nest? if not then the thematic's of the character are broken, as it breaks the core of the character being a sniper.

the ultimate is really powerful since the assassin rework has rolled into the game. i feel it should instead be changed to Camouflage for better balance (since Dusk Blade item 3147 is a powerful thing now), only allowing people to see him when their close (like 500 or 700 units). the damage is quit big, i think you should make it more inline like how Jinx's ult damage scales (low base, medium scale keeping the % missing health you have. i do see it having interesting counter play, but it just seems to really screw the team more than himself, like a bard ult screwing an ally, although it could be fine in the right situation.

over all can be quite a unique concept, although the lore to a character is just as important as mechanics as it can effusive why an ability is a certain way and create unique thoughts for mechanics (although everything here is a unique thought).

hope this all helps.

Loving his preview skin.

(Kidding)

Sniper champions are something I've been 50/50 about, actually having a sniper champion concept of my own way back in the day. They're a hit or miss (pun intended) and really it's hard to nail them on the head without going into boring stereotypes, cliche meshes of call-of-duty inserts, as well as accurately fitting them into the lore and atmosphere of the League of Legends universe.

I like this concept in it's base wireframe, however. It feels somewhat weird to have yet another Piltover sniper but in reality I'm not all too peeved by it.

Let's dig right in.

His passive is interesting. My only question is, is there a cap to his Patience? Otherwise we have the Garen in a bush syndrome from season 1, but far worse. Sitting there early game, just sitting in a bush. Waiting. By the time your enemy ADC walks into the bush you literally just pick them off with one god-shot and obliterate the support. I assume there's a cap, I'd just like to know what that is for reference.

Looks good to say the least.

Q: Interesting, usually a champion's Q is their bread and butter spam. Corki's bombs. Bard's skillshot, Karthus' Q, etc. I like this, though. But I'm seeing a dangerous trend: He's meant to stay in one place, a tactic that usually marks one's gravestone in a game where constant moving is key. It makes pushing odd, and makes him a weird pseudo support that stays back behind his ADC to cover your laner from afar, should you choose to not hold the ADC role. Interesting indeed. I like it.

W: That slow seems horrifying, it makes counterplay incredibly hard. I'd advise something else other than crowd-control.

E: I like the base version instead of the rework, stick with it. It gives him what little movement he needs to survive, I take back what I said about his Q, as these abilities work in tandem very well.

R: Hm.

This is the one thing I'll have to say I'm unsatisfied with. Not only is it a narrow escape if he uses it as an escape method in a gank (10 second stealth for a short 1.75 second channel, + godly movement speed) The damage is alright, I'd lower the AD scaling a smidgen. And giving your opponents any kind of buff is usually a very, very bad idea. You kill one guy, but you could give your opponents the movement speed to get away. It's helping the enemy team, which is something you shouldn't want to do when trying to win against them.

There's a few fixes that need to be touched up on in my opinion, and I'd recommend reworking the ultimate into something that goes with his Q, say an ultimate he can only activate while in Sniper's Nest. Regardless though, I love the flavor and playstyle. Keep it up.

If you'd be so kind, could you check out my concept, Leopold, Inexorable Savant? I'd love to hear your opinion on it. :)

Hey Pal,

though this month I'm not in the contest, I'll write something for you, alright? Neat. Let's get into it.

For the Lore: I'm fine with it. nothing too fancy, makes sense, interesting character. Though I'd say, a man with a scarred lung and arms... he might be a remarkable shooter, but how exactly can he tap into something as his E - Heartbeat, where he is supposed to run faster? I know that's nitpicking, but It is the one thing I just don's see making sense.

Now to the kit. An we start with one of my personal problem with this concept: The passive. Now, I get, what you're going for, the real Sniper if you can say so, but that still does not justify basing a concept on standing around. At least it doesn't for me. See, I was commenting on worse attempts to make standing around rewarding, and while you kind of make it work, it still is standing around. Which makes me think, what are you trying to accomplish? But more on that later. Also I am not quite getting what the Innate thing is supposed to do, please enlighten me :(

While I find Q interesting, there is something off I think. For example I don't know what the red line is supposed to do. I can see, It might have to do something with counterplay, but, come on, 1.2 seconds delay? Think of Lux Ult for a second. That delay is half a second, considering her beam is both broader and stronger. Early on your opponents have plenty of time to walk out of the mean red line, while later on you must consider that not even twitch has an indicator. What might work out is an marked area after the first time they got hurt. Imagine it just like Xerath or maybe Jhin to some extend. You always know, when they cant reach you anymore. But if that would work out for Hush... I don't know, I think it might be better than a laserpointer. I don't know if I like the piercing shot part, given how strong it is in of itself. But on the other hand it is limited through patience cost. Though you know my problem with patience.

The force is strong in the W, but I feel more of a dark side vibe than the light. When I think of it, I see how people get hit by the first shot, are slowed, and maybe know where that shot came from. If they don't have a dash, are conveniently close to Hush's max range or flash at expense, they are in for a lot of pain. I recon you'd build him on AD and crit, since you don't attack that often and every shot must deal the most damage possible. So even given the first, second and third shots aren't crits, they still hurt, like a lot, and since with the second shot there comes the double slow, you probably are in there for the third shot too. That's harsh man. And I don't need to say something about that passive now, do I? Same problem as the passive.

I've gotta say, I like the E. It has this quality of offering you one thing that solves multiple problems. Being close to enemy champions for example. Or dancing the dance of death. Though for that he lacks other movement I suppose. But the active... Nah, it feels misplaced. Removing stacks that easily would make him kind of dull to be honest. Great Hush players could distinguish themselves from the rest just by mastering the in and out that this ability gives. For the execute damage, I am not too sold on that. I can see that this one is supposed to be the "I really want you death"-ability with true damage and percent health damage and all of that, but is it necessary?

I honestly don't know how long Cait channels for her ult. Oh wait. Let me look that up. While I think 2.25 seconds channel might be explainable for a 39% missing health execute (!!) compared to the 1 second channel Cait ult, I don't get why he must retain vision. Cait get's true sight when she Ults and Jhin... Well, since it's a skillshot he can make up lacking vision with skill. But with an execute so potent, you want to target those running away from the fight, not those tanking sunlight and hits in the front rows. So it might be not so clever to do that. Also with that ratios there is a huge problem with counterplay. Because either you stay a little longer in the fight, only to get sniped or you leave prematurely, not getting your things done, but at least you life. What Is a team supposed to do if they can't fight, because as long as your Ult is up Their effective health bar might be almost halfed. And that's not counting those juicy 575 base power. Or the bonus AD. And I didn't even talk about the Camouflage, though here again I'd say that this makes setup a little too easy. Also, as Metal Gear Roses pointed out: Buffing enemies isn't the thing you are looking to do. I get that there is this theme of someone getting shot and everybody else runs, but I don't think that's the way to do it. Think of Darius. How all creeps run away in terror when you Decimate someone with your Ult. Why not trying that? If anybody is looking at the guy who's got shot, the run away from him, feared. At least that's something that would come to my mind.

All in all I'd say you have your same old problems as before: Your Kit is overloaded with all those actives an passives and stances and all of that. I mean besides the Ult Every single one of your abilities has an active and passive effect, and the Ult makes up for it by being two staged. This also makes it hard for me to place him. I can't say if he'd work out too well as a traditional Adc, because while the damage certainly is there, he is just so bound by getting most of his bonuses while standing still. Caitlin still does things, moves around, looks for trades, pokes with Q and all of that. But Hush? Hush want's to sit at his tower, sniping minions. Hush controls his side of the lane, and that is the end of the line. A "No enemies allowed"-Zone where he shots at everyone that comes close, thus also Creating a "No Fun Allowed"-Zone. And besides that, he cant't even do much else than sitting somewhere and waiting. E sticks out like a nice but sore thumb, emphasizing on the one aspect Hush doesn't want to do: Move. And even that movement isn't allowing him to escape properly, since it first has to get started. I total, I just don't see a real place for him on the rift. Though he would certainly have his niche, but rather as an anti siege support. And support in a way much like Annie is a "Support".

Whoa... that took longer than expected. But by know I should know what I am in for when I read through one of your concepts :P Sadly I can't give you something to nag on in return, but I'll consider next month as the month of your revenge. Can't wait :D

Anyways, I can only say, that this is my own humble opinion, redirect criticism or argue where you see fit. And you my friend, I hope you always stay frosty ;)

Hello fugertech!

I read your comment you left on the CCOS a day or so ago, and I would just like to inform you that I have extended the dates on this month's (and now the next's as well!) CCOS. You'll now have over half a month to do whatever it is you need to do to prepare for the final judging.

(P.S., between you and me, I would strongly advise simply pulling Hush and entering a new concept. I gave this guy a lookover again and its a nightmare. I can't go into specifics without sort've giving you an unfair advantage, since I am a judge, but this concept is a mess and would be a nightmare to judge. You now have much more time, so my personal advice would be to just pull this guy and start fresh.)

Hush has been updated. Any new feedback for me before I implement a lore?

fugertech12/12/2016, 7:13:04 PM1 votes

For anyone who's willing to review Hush for me (I'd greatly appreciate it), can you give me a preference for which E (the Rework or the base) you feel is better? I'm trying to see what needs to be changed on it, because while I like the idea I'm not sure which one fits him more mechanically.
