[Champion concept] AD support ninja

Problem: Supports either build AP or build tank stats in order to do damage or buff allies. There is no dedicated squishy AD support (MF, being the closest thing, was designed as an ADC first and foremost). This lack of diversity makes support very unappealing to carry toplane/carry jungle/melee midlane players.

Solution: Make a dedicated support champion who scales primarily off AD. The immediate issue with this is that any AD champ with support-level utility becomes broken as a solo laner, so,

Give the champion very limited/no access to reliable damage, and compensate with more reliable ways to debuff enemies. To prevent them from just building tank, make the debuff strength/duration scale off AD.

So its just AD Nami? No reliable damage =/= no damage at all. This champion should have a way of dealing an impressive amount of damage, but it can't be reliable enough for use in a solo lane, or have the base damage to encourage a tank build.

Ekko was designed as a utility assassin who doesn't necessarily kill targets with ease a la Leblanc or Zed, but has the CC and defensive tools to go in, disable and do some damage, rewind with ult and finish up. Since Ekko was desinged as a solo laner, he had to be able to put up a fight, however, so he couldn't REALLY be a utility assassin. This led to tank Ekko, which in turn led to nerfing base damage/buffing AP ratios, making current AP Ekko a high-damage, low reliability champion. The champion I'm arguing for should take this direction even further.

In order to function as a squishy debuffer without ranged damage, this champion would need to have decent mobility or untargetability options. Once again, there's a need to be careful so as to avoid this champion becoming a solo laner.

Summary thus far No dedicated AD support. Best way to accomplish this while still keeping said champion in the support role is through AD-scaling debuffs, VERY unreliable damage with high scaling but low base, and gated mobility.

My attempt Qi Lan, the Ribbon Dancer

Passive: Upon exiting a brush, gain 75% of bonus AD as movement speed for [2-8] seconds. Additionally, Qi Lan's autoattacks are modified to deal 175% AD initially, yet grant 100% AD to the target as health over 4 seconds. While the target is regenerating health, Qi Lan's autoattacks do 100% AD damage as per usual. Qi Lan's abilities all interact with Sashes

Q: Throw out a Sash in a line. If it makes contact with an allied champion, form a tether between Qi Lan and the allied champion. Tether: Any movement speed from the passive is doubled, and 25/35/45/55% of it is granted to the tethered ally. Qi Lan then swings in a fixed path around the allied champion (radius = sash length, linear speed = current movspeed) for up to one revolution. During this time Qi Lan can reactivate the ability to dash forward 500/550/600/650/700 units, ending the effects of Tether.

W: For 1/1.5/2/2.5/3 seconds, Qi Lan is slowed by 50%, cannot turn, cannot autoattack, and seperates into two independent character models with their own hitbox, with a gap inbetween. 60% of the damage dealt to either model is dealt to Qi Lan's health when the effect ends. Casting Q or E while under this effect duplicates the spell for both models, though the player's keyboard inputs affect both models equally and one cannot be directly controlled over the other.

E: First cast: For 3/4/5/6/7 seconds, Qi Lan flutters a Sash behind them; the sashes' shape conforms to Qi Lan's movement pathing (mathematically like Hecarim/Aurelion Sol tail). Any enemy projectiles which pass through a Sash are slowed down by (40% per 100 AD). Additionally, if the Sash makes contact with an enemy champion, they are slowed by (40% per 100 AD) and are afflicted with Nearsight for the remaining duration. 2nd cast: Reactivate to dash backwards along the path of the Sash.

R: First cast: Channel for 3 seconds, alerting all players with a global audio warning. For the next 6/8/10 seconds, Qi Lan becomes Invisible and moves with 70%/80%/90% increased movement speed. Additionally, all spawned Sashes remain on the battlefield until up to 5 seconds after the effect ends. Autoattacking an enemy ends the effect early. 2nd cast: Reactivate the ability within 5 seconds after the effect ends to tug on all spawned Sashes, constricting any closed loop. Enemy champions caught in a constriction are dealt 300% bonus AD magic damage damage over 3 seconds.

TL;DR Champion concept for squishy AD support ninja who uses allies to move around quickly, trailing special ribbons in their wake which disable enemy champions. Ultimate used to surround a battlefield with ribbons, situationally dealing a ton of damage to squishy enemies who don't avoid getting surrounded. Does well against skillshot-based mage supports and immobile carries; struggles against enchanters and mobile carries. Takes SS as a keystone, since the first auto does a ton of upfront burst, and since movement speed is very important.

The idea and theme are there. I think with a couple tiny changes, she can shine as a good support in League some day.

Some cool ideas here. I'm assuming that sashes are visible during ult invisibility effect, meaning that QL can still be attacked with skillshots relatively easily (albeit as a very fast-moving target), but not AA'd to death instantly.

Would grievous wounds interact with the AA passive? If so, I guess item 3123 would be an early must-buy.

I think I'm most skeptical of the passive overall, since it would seem to lend itself toward executes/kill-stealing more than anything else. But I like the effort to extend supports into this new space.

While this is a good idea you forget two things, one is that a support wouldn't be able to afford AD items on their budget, and two is that assassins and supports are opposites ends of the "class" spectrum. Even if Riot does like this concept they'll probably modify it and make Qi Lan scale off of AP.

Whelp looks like I somewhat got my wish. Rakan is probably the closest thing I'll ever get to a mobile squishy AD support, and I am STOKED!
