Idea for Mana-less ADC/Marksman?
Hello there everybody! This is my first post ever on these forums as a whole so forgive me if I'm not familiar with how I should present myself.
Before I begin, I would just like to point out that I am NOT incredibly good at League of Legends (more on the mediocre side with a bad internet connection, in all honesty) but what I AM is incredibly interested in champion design and gameplay, and also being an art student irl got me thinking of my own design and ideas for abilities on what MIGHT work for a mana-less ADC/Marksman.
However, getting straight to the topic, after first watching a while ago and then recently re-watching Jeremy "Gaming Curios"'s video on the possible potential champion, Kadarin, I began thinking about how it would actually be pretty cool to have something that's far from the standard method of a champion's creation with it's own rare or unique mechanic. For example, Graves' and a number of other ADC's preseason update and Jhin as a whole show that Riot is toying with potential and new ways ADC's can be made with interesting and unique mechanics.
Now, for after just some obvious thoughts, here's my actual design for the mana-less ADC/Marksman, and I have taken note and also employ a bit of what Jeremy says in his video, and I recommend watching it beforehand.
I must also note that I am not a professional champion designer, and everything is up for debate and modification, I'm mostly just curious about what others might think of a design like this or similar. the idea for this champ is honestly made to be a little similar to how Gnar plays, where you have to keep track of your abilities so that his heat (or rage, in Gnar's case) doesn't possibly screw you over or cause you to waste his passive.
The overall design of the champ is supposed to be a bit engagey, a bit disengagey, and have some way of sustaining himself so he doesn't have to rely on a squishier support all the time since you'll often want to go in on someone with his Q for a nice trade hopefully, and have a big flashy ult that can be awesome.
And without further ado,
Name: (anything really, could still be Kadarin for all it matters, and I'll be using the name for simplicity) Lore: ^ Base stats: I'm no good with numbers, so let's say he's similar to Jhin in all stats but has the base AD and AD Scaling as Lucian to give an idea. Once again, open for discussion for all this. Note: I don't know what numbers would work for his damage, as this is just hypothetical, but what I want to confirm is that he has very little AP scaling on all of his abilities besides his E and they mainly scale off of AD.
Passive: "Generator": Kadarin's mana bar is replaced with a Heat bar, and his Attack Speed cannot be grown except through level and the amount of heat he has. As Kadarin Auto-Attacks, he gains 5 heat (up to 100) and gains 10 heat whenever he Critically strikes a target. Kadarin requires a certain amount of Heat in order to use his abilities. The more heat Kadarin has, the faster he auto attacks, after using an ability, Kadarin an additional 5 heat on his next Auto-Attack. When Kadarin reaches 100 Heat, after 2 seconds, Kadarin goes into "Overdrive" and gains increased movement speed. If he stays in overdrive for 5 seconds, he enters "Burnout" begins to quickly lose heat and drops below his normal movement speed, and auto attacking doesn't grant any heat.
Q: "Particle Beam/Propulsion": 15 Heat/4 sec. cd/range 850: Kadarin dashes forward a short distance (350 range) and fires a lined skillshot that passes through all enemies hit, slowing them for 0.5 seconds. Kadarin can cast the ability again for 10 Heat within 2 seconds to push himself back (200 range).
W: "Vent": 20 sec. cd: Kadarin vents all of his Heat over 5 seconds, gaining increased movement speed and health regeneration, and pushes all enemy units around him away a short distance on cast. the more Heat he vents, the more movement speed he gets, the more health he heals, and the further he pushes enemies away on cast (up to about 100 units away from his position).
E: "Energy Burst": 50 Heat/8 sec. cd/range 350: Kadarin channels for 1 second and lets out an aoe burst around him, dealing damage and revealing enemies for a short duration, and launches him in the direction of the player's cursor on cast (350 range).
R: "G.T.R.K.T. Particle Incinerator": 100 Heat/150 sec. cd/range 2500: Kadarin roots himself and channels for 5 seconds an incredibly wide (500 range) and incredibly long skillshot that the player can aim during the channel and fires a huge beam that deals physical damage and burns all enemy champions hit and reveals them for 2 seconds.
Keeping in mind that the idea is similar and based off of what Jeremy said in his video about a robot/cyborg like champion making a bit more sense for this type of champion, I was thinking of an ADC or Marksman with a bit of mobility and disengage and a few flashy abilities. Also, when I thought of a robot-like champion just knew his ult had to be a big scary laser with a funny name, and if it seems OP I agree, but I felt that every champ should have something really flashy about them or one of their abilities.. (the idea for the name I must give credit to Paragon's character GRIMM.EXE's ult, called the G.T.F.O. (side note: never played the game but I see the add for that character in specific all the time on youtube))
So yeah, there's my idea on this type of Champion. I'm CERTAIN that there are at least a dozen other threads on this forum that talk about this topic, but I wanted to try and host one for myself and give this a go. Please comment any and all ideas and criticism you might have and as I said, these abilities and ideas are completely up for debate and change, but this was just my initial idea of something that might seem cool for an ADC/Marksman.
