Name: Mordred

Title: the Scorned Saber

Appearance: -Heavily Armored (White/bright armor) -Two-Handed Sword (Same style as armor; white with a jagged appearance)

Roles: -Fighter -Tank

Secondary Bar: -Hate*

Default Range: -Melee

Damage Type: -Mixed

Lore -Open to suggestion, but I had imagined a sort of very prideful, yet childish/teenage girl knight that abandoned the code of chivalry.

-She woke up on the cold stone floor, her body aching, not used to sleeping on the floor. "That damn bastard, it's all his fault!" She screamed to the empty room, punching the wall with all her might, cracking it.

"Should we keep her?" A mother asked the crowned man beside her, while cradling a baby girl. He exhaled deeply. "As much as I would like to, she is a girl, my heir must be male to be accepted by my people." The mother started to cry at the thought of abandoning her child. "It's okay," the king tried to reassure her "I will give her to a friend, he will take care of her." The king took the child from her reluctant mother and handed her to a man standing in the doorway who promptly left with the child.

16 years later "I deserve to be king!" a young girl yelled at the man that had just revealed that he wasn't her true father. Her blonde hair, normally tied in a bun was messily sprawled about. " I am just as capable- No, MORE capable than my father to rule this land!" She screamed in anger, picking up her sword; a bright white holy relic. The man reached for his own sword, but he couldn't move, he was paralyzed by her killing intent. The girl swung her sword, making a deep wound from his right shoulder to his left hip, her once pure sword stained in the blood of an innocent man. "Mordred..." He whispered "I'm... Sorry..."

She could still remember his last words. Him and her father, they are the cause of this. She should have woken up in a comfortable bed in her kingdom. But instead she was stuck here. "Ugh." She grunted "Sitting here isn't going to help anyone." She mumbled to herself, slowly getting up and stretching; preparing to go out into the world and take back the kingdom that belonged to her, at any cost.

Sample Quotes: -Upon Selection: I shall prove myself in battle!

-Movement: There, we travel Take them by storm! Onwards, the battleground awaits!

-Attacking: This is too easy Is this all they can offer?! They are not worth slaying

-Taunt: You think you are worthy to be slain by my blade? Hah! Challenge me, if you wish to prove yourself!

-Joke: Shall we settle for just one, or should we take on their whole team?

Play Style -Mordred plays like a true berserker, taking damage and dishing it back out. Meant for the top lane (and possibly jungle?), she excels at pumping out damage while being able to position herself almost anywhere due to her tanky nature. Even as a versatile fighter, Mordred prefers to take the fight straight to the enemy, soaking up damage for the team and dealing a significant amount back to the enemy. -Mordred's game-play is focused around managing your Swordsmanships and knowing which is the right one for the situation, as a mis-click of your Warding Swordsmanship while chasing an enemy instead of Undefined Swordsmanship will lead to missed kills and snowball potentials. -Mordred is versatile, and that doesn't stop with just her game-play, Mordred players have quite a few build options; they could opt for a more tanky route, giving them a decent amount of Ability Power to ensure your damage is detectable. Or they can go for a more damage-orientated build that rewards you with bonus Armor and high kill potential though out the game. -Recommended summoners: Ignite/Flash, Ignite/Teleport, or Ignite/Smite for kill potential (Exhaust could also help with 1v1s). Barrier/Flash or Teleport/Flash for more defensive play.

Suggested Build: -Ravenous Hydra, Spirit Visage, Mercury's Treads, Bloodthirster, Banshee's Veil, Infinity Edge. This gives Mordred +235 Attack Damage, +135 Magic Resistance, +371 Ability Power, and +71 Armor along with +20% Critical Chance, a spell shield, +32% Lifesteal, some extra health regeneration from Hydra and Spirit, and Tenacity. This gives you a balanced bruiser build, and can be optimized for anyone's play-style!

Abilities:

Passive - Stubborn Assault Mordred gains a percentage of her bonus Attack Damage as Armor 10/20/30%, and a percentage of her bonus Magic Resistance as Ability Power 175/225/275%. Additionally, Mordred gains a small movement speed boost (4/8/16%) when entering a Swordsmanship, but when a Swordsmanship expires, she loses movement speed (10/14/22%), both of these movement modifiers last 2 seconds.

Note that the stats Mordred's passive gives her are counted as bonus Armor and Ability Power; these bonus stats do not stack repeatedly with any of her abilities & that the movement speed slow is affected by Tenacity and Boots of Swiftness, etc.

Q - Undefined Swordsmanship Mordred ceases to use her sword as a melee weapon and proceeds to instead throw her sword with every attack. Mordred also loses 10/20/30/40/50 movement speed for the ability's duration and will gain 4/6/8/10/12% (+0.2% AP) movement speed whenever an auto attack makes contact with an enemy [Changed] Dash towards her auto attack target. this can stack 1/1/1/2/3 times.

These ranged auto attacks work similarly to a mix between an auto attack and a Siver/Gnar Q, as each attack will fly to the target (dealing 50% your total attack damage to targets that are hit along the way) and then return to Mordred (again dealing 50% your total attack damage to targets the sword passes though). The auto attack's target will take 75% of your attack damage on each pass of the sword, dealing 150% damage if both passes hit. The sword's projectile speed is determined by your attack speed, as the sword will return to your hand to be ready for your next auto attack. This ability only drains Hate while attacking, and no Hate will be consumed while not preforming an attack; the more targets that your auto attacks hit, more Hate is drained. Note that while using Undefined Swordsmanship your auto attacks are then classified as projectiles, and will be blocked by something like Yasuo's Wind Wall or Braum's Unbreakable. Also, the movement speed loss from Undefined Swordsmanship is not affected by effects like Tenacity. Apply's melee on-hit effects. For reference, Mordred's attack range is changed from 125 units to 400 units, for a gain of 275 units (value is subject to change).

[Change Note] I decided to change the move speed gain to a dash for a couple reasons; 1) The buff, in game play, was just too boring (and not to mention, redundant, when accounting for the fact that she gets move speed from Stubborn Assault + the move speed loss from being in the stance) 2) This will make Mordred thing twice about using Undefined Swordsmanship, as instead of a flat move speed gain, she now has to dash to the target. This will prevent Mordred from kiting effectively while in this Swordsmanship (Mainly because she isn't meant to kite; she want to jump into the fight) and it will hopefully add a level of mastery to her game play.

[Alternate Q] Flourishing Swordsmanship After receiving a few concerns about Mordred's Q, Undefined Swordsmanship, I decided to make an alternate skill and see which one you guys liked better.

Mordred, at home on the battlefield, passively gains 1/2/3/5/7% of her bonus Attack Damage as Health. When Flourishing Swordsmanship is activated, Mordred loses her passive bonus and instead raises her bonus Attack Damage, bonus Ability Power, Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and lifesteal/spellvamp by 1/2/3/5/7% (+1% per 150 bonus HP). Mordred's auto attacks also deals a small AoE splash damage equal to 35% of her total Attack Damage. Flourishing Swordsmanship is the only Swordsmanship that can stay active during the use of Scorn of Knights.

Hate is drained at a medium rate ( the base ability [without any bonus mana] lasts approx. 7 seconds while not in combat) while inc combat, you will lose .5 seconds of duration every time you auto attack. I'm not too sure about this alternate skill, but it seems like it'd fit her kit just as well as Undefined Swordsmanship. Anyways, tell me which one you like better and why, or if you have any ideas of your own!

W - Warding Swordsmanship Mordred switches to a defensive stance that raises her Armor by 10/20/30/40/50 (+25% bonus armor) and Magic Resistance by 10/20/30/45/55 (+35% bonus Magic Resistance). Every time this ability is activated Mordred heals 25/50/75/100/125 (+0.7% AP) health. In exchange for her defensive gain, Mordred's attack speed is reduced by 15/20/25/30/35%. [Changed] Mordred will lose 10/20/30/40/50% movement speed and 20/25/30/35/40% attack speed.

Just for clarification, the Magic Resistance will apply on her passive, giving her extra Ability Power by the appropriate ratio. In this "Swordsmanship" Hate is constantly drained at a slow rate, that increases dramatically while taking damage from champions.

[Change Note] 1) Warding Swordsmanship offered too much in exchange for a measly attack speed reduction. 2) Again, much like with the Q changes, this will hopefully make Mordred player think about the right Swordsmanship for the right situation. 2.5) The numbers on this are open to suggestion, I don't know if the slow is too much at later ranks.

E - Reckless Swordsmanship Mordred abandons all form to her attacks and sacrifices Armor and Magic Resistance 20/25/30/35/40% for Attack Speed 65/85/105/125/145% (+5% per 50 AP and 30 bonus AD) [Addition] and a movement speed bonus of 5/10/15/20/25% (+5% per 50 AP and 30 bonus AD) that lasts for 3 seconds, refreshing whenever Mordred either takes damage, or attacks an enemy.

While this Swordsmanship may seem rather useless at first glance, it is very helpful when split pushing and you need to quickly destroy a tower or minion wave before the enemy comes to kill you; where you then switch Swordsmanships to give them a nasty surprise.

[Addition Note] 1) Due to all of the self-slows that Mordred has, I felt that she needed something that helped her out in that regard, also makes Reckless Swordsmanship a key part of Mordred's kit.

R - Scorn of Knights Mordred activates her sword, invoking the normally shining blade to turn into a dark and demonic relic. Upon activation, Mordred and one other (optional) target are suppressed, and she channels a powerful strike for up to 2.5 seconds that releases a burst of blood-red Hate upon enemies in a circle around her and a mid-ranged line pointing in front of her dealing 100/200/300 (+40% bonus Attack Damage and +120% Ability Power) in Magic Damage. This damage is increased by 10% for every .5 seconds of channeling. While in the suppressed state, Mordred gains 15/30/45 (+50% bonus Armor) Armor and 15/30/45 (+65% bonus Magic Resistance) Magic Resistance and her target is invulnerable to everything except Mordred's Scorn of Knights for the duration.

Extremely powerful and rather easy to dodge (if you aren't the target). This ability is meant to be a finisher, that has a high chance to finish off your target and a good chance of chunking a few other enemies in the process. Note that while I did say "suppression" my intent was to have things like Clarity, QSS, etc stop the "suppression". I am also considering changing the suppression to a taunt, so the target isn't completely useless during this time, but is instead forced to auto attack Mordred with 150% or 175% damage (the target's attacks will not proc on-hit effects).

So, Tell me what you think in the comments below! Is this a champion that you would like to see? Are there a few things that could be improved upon? Any and all input is welcome and encouraged!

Anything marked by an asterisk is a unique mechanic. Note that nearly everything is open to criticism and that all numbers are subject to change!

  1. "Hate" this concept works in a way similar to mana, except for each of her abilities drain a separate "Hate Bar," one colored differently for each ability. This bar also represents the duration of the ability, once the bar runs out, the ability is deactivated and the bar has to recharge either though combat (only your non-active stances will regenerate Hate) and passive regeneration (Note that the duration of an ability is not the same as the cooldown, although re-activating the same ability will do nothing). For example, if Mordred used her Q ability, a purple bar would appear where mana/energy is and would drain accordingly, and if the ability runs out of Hate you revert back to normal and your Q would regenerate Hate. But lets say that you chose to activate your E while your Q still had 1/2 its rage left, the Q ability would cease to affect you and the rage would regenerate from 1/2 to full while using your E, (as the Hate bars for each ability are different) and your purple Q Hate bar would be replaced by a yellow-green E Hate bar, that would drain accordingly. As a sort of side note, your amount of Hate is increased by mana items, and the passive recharge rate is affected by mana regeneration items, the advantage to building mana lets you maintain your stance for longer, as the amount of Hate you have ties directly to the duration of your abilities.

The "hate bar" idea ia really interesting

Cool concept, but I can't help being a bit confused. First off, her Q is pretty interesting, but have you really thought about what it looks like in game? The projectile is moving extremely fast, dishing out full auto attack damage to every enemy between her and the opposing squishies. There is no way to prevent her from dealing full damage to their entire team at frightening speeds, but it gets worse. While it's already undodgeable due to its tremendous speed, it also deals a total of 150% AD to the poor sap she actually decides to target. SO she effectively multiplies her damage several times over for a duration which we have yet to understand (how quickly does she lose Hate? How much Hate does she have?), which is totally unfair. Keep in mind you're giving ranged DPS to a bruiser/tank. With that in mind, lower the damage. It should deal full damage or less to the target and even less damage to each extra target hit, like 30-40% AD on each pass. Also, make sure you understand her range and the duration of the buff. Because you left these unspecified, we can only guess what horribly unbalance champion awaits us. Her W, E and passive, which all provide passive buffs, are also a bit out of wack. The buffs are tuned too high and debuffs tuned too low, making her feel a bit like a ball of stats. Example: Reckless Swordsmanship should decrease armor and MR by 20/25/30/35/40% (since you suggested it be used outside of combat) in exchange for the insane pushing power she gets. With these many buffs and debuffs, we see another affliction of the ball of stats: uninteresting gameplay. Her passive grants massive armor and AP for little reason, but the activated movement speed buff and subsequent debuff is more or less nonexistent. Outside of her ultimate, all her abilities are "press button and start autoattacking". I can see some similarities to Udyr in this kit, but here is where Udyr went right and Mordred went wrong: activation of abilities does something interesting on Udyr. A shield, a burst of movement speed, an aura of flame, a stun, Udyr feels like he has an impact whenever he changes forms, and he gets to do it all the time. That's fun. Mordred clicks a button and clicks an enemy and waits. That's uninvolved. I won't touch the ultimate for now, since it's her main kit which is most importantly under fire. This concept brings in some new ideas, but falls really flat and fails to capture interesting gameplay. I hope you can improve on this champion :) Reviewer, away!summoner 4
